Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams (Capcom) By: Kenneth Shelton Onimusha is a new title for the PS2 that combines the classic Fatal Furry style action/adventure game with a shogun landscape and character set. My first impression of this game was not very high, but the more I played it, I must admit, the more it kind of grew on me. While not an award winning game, this game seems like it may find a small niche market with those gamers that like the look and feel of this style of game. Its not too flashy and, from what I could tell, the plot wasnt the greatest, but it had that somewhat addictive feel of an old 8-bit RPG. The character being demoed had somewhat slow movements and was being accompanied by an assisting NPC and they tore through the skeleton style enemies without much difficulty. There was no bloodshed the characters simply spray a purplish color as they are hit and die in a puff of smoke. With mediocre graphics and its crowning feature seeming to only be its possible addictiveness, I cant see this game doing extremely well, but I can definitely say that I have seen worse. |
