Enemy Territory: Quake Wars By: Jestin Jund If you are like me, and were absolutely stunned with the first few screen shots from Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, you will be pleased to know that in person it looks even better. While details were very sparse on the game, E3 attendees were treated to a one minute trailer that made our jaws drop. Sporting the tag " all footage is in game play", Quake wars drops on the screen like a bomb. While the game uses the Doom 3 engine, it's tough to tell that it has any ties. Bright lighting, and tremendous environments separate Quake Wars from it's Doom 3 brethren. From what I have seen, the game looks as though it is set in a future dessert war zone, with a decidedly military character base. There was a strong presence of vehicles, and frantic movement. We didn't see any real combat or actual first person perspective HUD views, but any questions about the environments or setting were cleared up. No release dates were mentioned, but apparently in "2006 things will change". If Activision and id can deliver on these promises, the future looks bright. |
