Company: Activision
Los Angeles, April 13, 2009 – GGL Global Gaming the world’s largest community for gamers, today announced that in just over 2 weeks, more than 20,000 Call of Duty: World at War fans have descended on the social networking and competition platform surrounding the launch of the new Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1, which has sold more than 1 million copies since its release on March 19, 2009. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 team competitions and communities on GGL consist of hundreds of micro-communities formed in just over 2 weeks. Mainstream gamers and enthusiasts are creating teams, engaging in battle, sharing tips and interacting with friends and GGL “frien-emies” from all over the world.

“The response for this title and tournament has been phenomenal and the energy isn’t just about winning a tournament or the prizing, there is real palpable excitement for interaction around the new map pack right now,” said Ted Owen, CEO of GGL Global Gaming. “Hats off to Activision and Treyarch for answering the tasks of creating an absolutely incredible downloadable map pack for what is clearly one of the most successful titles in recent history.”

The team tournament, which offers “Search and Destroy”, “Deathmatch”, and “Capture the Flag” game modes, provides Call of Duty: World at War fans the option to play in three new combat zones including a bombed-out underground train station (Station), a fire-bombed Berlin (Nightfire), and an island village (Knee Deep). The order of finish in the Xbox 360 and PS3 ladders will determine the prizing.

To join the Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 Tournament ladders, participants can log on to and complete the online registration form. All players must be legal residents of the U.S. only, and at least 13 years of age. Registration remains open through the end of the tournament on May 3rd, with all participants getting the chance to win exclusive Call of Duty: World at War gift packs…and more importantly, highly-coveted bragging rights and GGL online achievements.
