The Journey Ahead.
With the release of TRS2006, the Trainz franchise continues to evolve and mature. From the raw beginnings of Trainz Virtual Railroading in 2001, through Ultimate Trainz and Trainz Railroad Simulator 2004, there is broad acceptance that this latest version is the best Trainz product ever. Sales in the first few weeks have been encouraging and localized versions will begin hitting the retail shelves from next month. In the USA the retail stores will release TRS 2006 in January 2006. So there is a great chance to "jump the gun" and order directly from your regional website or our online shop now.

So what lies ahead for Trainz? Over the past 5 years we have developed the world's largest online train fan community. We have more than 150,000 online members and continue to add thousands of new members every month. As long as we are supported by this growing customer base, we will strive to deliver new and better experiences. In the short term, the team will be concentrating on improving TRS2006, localizing into 10 languages and creating new "runtime" versions. The runtime editions are stand-alone routes that will enable us to reduce the entry price for new fans, whilst also having the appeal of an expansion pack for existing customers.

Looking further ahead, our goal is to create a fully professional simulation from a completely new code base, and to branch off a "Lite" edition for a more casual game experience, and the exact details of this "Rail Sim Pro" edition will be released at the appropriate time.. We are also working with international partners on driver training (for commercial railroads) and talking to global publishers about other opportunities that we know will appeal to our customer base, such as a Tranzportation game.

Meanwhile, at some time in the near future, we will reach the grand milestone of 1 million posts to the community forums, a very proud achievement that all started from humble beginnings. This is a marvellous achievement, and you can all be very proud to be a part of this very special community.

Movement at the Station.
As one Trainzer departs, an old favourite returns. Henk (Cafe) Plaggemars has decided to pursue other career goals beyond the world of Trainz and upon hearing this, our old friend Rob (Rob) Shaw will be returning to Trainz after an absence of 2 years. In addition, Lance (prr001) Jago will be taking over management of the regional websites [http://www.auran.com/TRS2006] and the Trainz on the Road program, while Dr John Banks has moved into a new role at MyVirtualHome [www.myvirtualhome.com.au] and "having fun running a new communications/marketing team" there.

In other changes, Greg Lane, Auran's founder and long-time CEO, has taken on a new challenge as CEO of MyVirtualHome [www.myvirtualhome.com.au]. Auran has developed the MVH software over the past 2 years and will continue to develop future editions. Greg will remain as Auran "Chief Creative Officer" and Tony Hilliam takes over the reins as the new Auran CEO.

Please join us in wishing everyone success in their new roles.

Helpdesk Position.
In light of the recent changes in the Trainz Team, a position on the Helpdesk has been left vacant for an enthusiastic person willing to work in Brisbane. If you think you have what it takes, and are eligible to work in Australia, visit our Careers page online at http://www.auran.com/auran/careers.htm to apply.
