London – November 28, 2005 – Capcom today confirmed the following three titles for the PSP™ handheld entertainment system - Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX, Breath of Fire III, and Monster Hunter Freedom. All are due for release in early 2006.
With its three different fighting styles, Street Fighter Alpha 3 has long been a favourite of beat ‘em up fans across the globe and Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX offers even more than before. Featuring a total of 37 characters, some new to the series, and numerous gameplay modes to choose from, Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX, promises to deliver the definitive 2D fighter for the PSP.
In addition to the classic Arcade mode the title includes World Tour mode where players select a fighter and build up that character’s abilities; Dramatic Battle mode in which two characters join forces and go head to head with an opponent or to make things even more challenging R Dramatic Battle mode pits one character against two AI opponents. Naturally Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX takes advantage of the PSP’s multiplayer capabilities offering League and Tournament modes where up to eight players can compete via the PSP’s Ad Hoc mode.
Appearing for the first time on a handheld console, Breath of Fire III is the third instalment of this classic RPG series. Graphically enhanced to take advantage of the PSP’s screen resolution, Breath of Fire III follows the fate of Ryu as he embarks on an epic quest to discover his ancestry and understand the dragon power that has awoken inside of him. The PSP version also includes a bonus Fishing mode at 18 different locations in the game world. Thanks to the Game Sharing function Breath of Fire III owners can also send this Fishing game to their friends to enjoy even if they do not have a copy of the game.
Based on the PS2 title Monster Hunter G, which was only released in Japan, Monster Hunter Freedom expands the Monster Hunter experience with brand new quests and features. The game is visually stunning, with the dramatic environments equally as impressive as the huge monsters that roam them. Just like the home console version Monster Hunter Freedom offers both single and multiplayer missions for up to 4 players via the PSP’s Ad Hoc mode, with objectives such as defeating specific beasts or collecting items and then allowing you to build up your hunter and create new and more powerful weapons and armour.
Created specifically for Monster Hunter Freedom Felyne Kitchen is a new feature where players can train Felynes to cook for them. As the Felynes become more skilled in the kitchen the better the meals they can prepare and the more the player’s statistics will increase. But if you aren’t happy with what they prepare you can always fire them and hire a new batch!
Also new to for the PSP is The Farm, a small piece of land where the hunter can obtain rare mushrooms, mine ore and catch insects allowing them to obtain essential items without having to travel too far from the village. The Farm will also feature some great mini-games for those who want a quick Monster Hunter experience.
Another first for the Monster Hunter franchise is Treasure Hunter mode – a series of missions designed for just 2 players working together to achieve certain objectives. All of the items found or earned in this mode can be kept and used in single player mode.
Planned release dates –
Breath of Fire III – 10 February
Street Fighter 3 Alpha MAX – 24 February
Monster Hunter Freedom – 31 March
