Palm Beach, Florida – December 15, 2004 – DCAD Productions announces the start date of its on-line tournament A Soldier’s War.com (ASW). After 8 months of beta testing, Campaign One will officially commence on January 1, 2005.
ASW utilizes EA Games Battlefield 1942 game engine, Trauma Studios Desert Combat modification along with its own mini-mod to provide players with a unique gaming experience.
The tournament is set in alternative near-future where the world is at war as two competing powers, NATO and the newly reconstituted communist Warsaw Pact battle for global control. In this non-linear experience, the direction of the game play is controlled by the actions of the players, in whose hands lies the fate of the world.
Combining the ideas of Role Playing Game (RPG) and First Person Shooter (FPS), game play is now a 24-hour experience with players participating in training, reconnaissance missions, and combat action on “Area Maps” which rotate between Day and Night settings. The players are able to sharpen their skills on training ranges, practice armored vehicle movements, patrol hostile territory, observe enemy actions in the field, and fight for control of key map areas, all while staying in voice communications with fellow players, building relationships and team spirit.
The combat action intensifies during “Battle Days” with full-scale, divisional-sized, 64-player battles, when the training and team building of the “Area Maps” is put to use. Divisions of both armies engage in massive warfare, employing tactics and teamwork to win territory, pushing back the enemy, leading to final victory.
The ASW mini-mod features new equipment such as the T90 Main Battle Tank, Sukhoi Su-37 “Flanker” fighter, Eurocopter AS 532 “Cougar” helicopter, Kamov Ka-50 “Hokum” helicopter, VSK94, P-90 machine guns, all new custom maps, skins and uniforms. Combat action takes place throughout the globe with maps extending from the icy fjords of Norway, jungles of South East Asia, deserts of the Middle East to the waters of the Pacific Ocean.
The tournament emphasizes teamwork and communications with fellow players, structured, tactical game play where the armed forces work as a group to attain their objectives. The competition is taken to an all new level, as individual skill combined with experienced leadership, cooperation and group effort takes precedence over every-man-for-himself, public-server style of play.
Campaign One starts on January 1st, 2005. Divisions and companies are forming now.
