DesktopGaming.net has just released Bizzy's Spelling Bee, a word puzzle game where the aim is to make words from adjoining letters on a 9x8 honeycomb grid.
The game features three distinct game play modes:
• Classic
A standard game mode with no time limitations. The game gets progressively more difficult on higher levels.
• Free Play
A word puzzle for those who want to relax! Free Play does not include any time limits or penalty tiles, and is never-ending.
• Time Trial
Once you've master the art of finding words in Classic or Freeplay mode, you can take on the Time Trial! Here you have a time limit in which to find "buzzwords". Run out of time and the game is over. Time bonuses can help you on your way, while bombs, rocks and locked tiles will hinder your progress.
The core of the game is built around player profiles. An unlimited number of player profiles can be created, so you can have a profile for each member of the family! Statistics from each and every game you play are stored in your profile, including your longest ever word, highest points scored in a single turn, and the highest level reached.
There are three difficulty modes available. Normal difficulty mode will fill the grid with more common letters, such as E, R, S and T, while Insane mode would be more biased towards less frequently used letters such as K, V, X and Z. Bizzy's Spelling Bee features a built-in dictionary containing over 170,000 words with both English and American spellings catered for.
The game also intelligently monitors how the player is playing the game. Bonuses are awarded for finding longer words, but repeatedly finding short words will cause penalties such as bombs and rocks to appear. However, all penalties can be disposed of by using that tile to make a word!
To ease you into the game, the player is given a gameplay hint at the start of each level. While these start out giving details of basic game functionality, they eventually turn into hints on how best to play the game, and how to make the longest words you can. These can also be switched off once you've got used to playing!
