WELWYN GARDEN CITY, Herts, United Kingdom, March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Following a successful 18-month period publishing PC games in Europe, new British video game publisher Digital Jesters announced today that Bet On Soldier, the first-person shooter for PC that has all of Europe buzzing, will be the company's first foray into the U.S. gaming market, will ship this summer.
"In just over a year, we have managed to publish over a dozen PC titles in Europe," said Terry Malham, commercial director and co-founder, Digital Jesters. "While we are still a young company, we felt it was time to challenge ourselves by reaching into the U.S. market with a top-notch title, an FPS with a different sort of feel than any other game on the market today."
Digital Jesters was formed by ex-members of CDV following the decision by CDV to close their UK office. Between 2000 and 2003 this same team built CDV UK from a start up company into the 10th largest PC publisher in the UK, generating over 2.5 million British pounds Sterling in turnover over the first 12 months of trading. The firm is comprised of a lean, experienced staff that has launched franchises such as Sudden Strike, Cossacks, eJay, Red Faction and WWE as well as enjoyed commercial and critical success in the UK with titles such as TrackMania, Pro Rugby, Chaos League and D-Day.
Bet On Soldier is a high stakes first-person shooter where players need a quick mind along with quick reflexes. The game allows players to do exactly what it promises with its title -- bet on the outcome of encounters with specific enemies. Before entering battle, players wager on which particular enemy soldiers they are going to kill. When they encounter this enemy in the game, a duel will take place. Depending on the outcome, the player will either lose his stake or win a prize calculated according to his opponent's rank, his initial stake, and the length of time it took to win. If a person continues to win, they can upgrade their character, which in turn will help them compete against progressively tougher opponents and battles.
"We only intend on bringing innovative, top-notch titles to the market, and we think Bet On Solider has established itself as a compelling alternative to the barrage of standard first-person shooters that are flooding the market," said Malham. "The title will combine old-time board game excitement with state of the art graphics."
Developed out of France by Kylotonn, Bet on Soldier takes full advantage of the latest in DirectX9 graphics and rendering, fully utilizing pixel and vertex shaders, advanced specular effects, and the Kt proprietary physics engine.
Bet on Solider is scheduled for release in the U.S. this summer. For more information about the game, please visit www.betonsoldier.com. For more information about Digital Jesters, please visit www.digitaljesters.com.
About Digital Jesters
Founded in 2003, Digital Jesters is a British-based publisher of computer and video games. Set up by the duo responsible for launching and establishing the Sudden Strike and Cossacks series of games in the UK, the firm's remit is simple: to source and publish the best games available. The company's commitment to originality resulting in it snapping up the original TrackMania game from French developer Nadeo and DJ's ethos of community development strategy resulted in the game becoming one of the sleeper hits of the year. A tie-in with record-breaking yachtswoman Ellen Macarthur for the firm's second release Virtual Skipper 3 ensured the game received widespread attention among the elusive non-gamer, and firmly placed the publisher on the map. The firm has enjoyed three top 10 PC hits, one of which is from the developers Cyanide, creators of Pro Rugby Manager and now DJ is expanding its operation to cover additional territories. It has also published its own comic book to widespread critical acclaim. For more information, please visit www.digitaljesters.com.
