Wanted! – dtp presents Undercover: Dual Motive’s suspects
Hamburg/Germany: July 03, 2007 – Professor John Russell has a serious problem: The physicist is suspected to have betrayed secrets. He has only 24 hours to prove his innocence.

This is what happened: In Russell’s office, they found documents that the physicist wasn’t allowed to have! It seems that the documents are some kind of explosive. It’s not just the management of the research compound – where Russell is working at – who follows this case. Even British MI6 agents are involved now.

This is no big surprise: It’s the 1930’s, World War II is just about to begin, and obviously, the scientists at the British research facility are working busily on something also the armed forces will able to use.

Every single bit of information that can be gathered at the institute is obviously worth a lot of money – and could get the United Kingdom into big trouble.

In the upcoming Nintendo DS adventure game Undercover: Dual Motives players take over the control over Russell and also Audrey, the secretary of the research compound’s director. Together, they have to prove Russell’s innocence.

When investigating at the institute, they meet various characters – colleagues, scientists and agents. Everyone seems to be suspicious to Russell – soon, he doesn’t know whom he might still trust.

Today, dtp entertainment presents some of the characters of the adventure game:

Professor John Russell is one of the game’s two main characters. PC adventure gamer might already know him from “Undercover: Operation Wintersun”. The 35 year old physicist is not what you would call an adventure game hero. He’s a man of facts, used to distant approach. This and his profound humour help him to solve even the most challenging situations.

Audrey is Russell’s most important ally. The secretary of the research compound’s director believes in Russell’s innocence and is willing to help him. She’s playable character no. 2 and has her very own view of the things in Undercover: Dual Motives. Together with Russell, she will master many challenges.

Sir Williams is in charge of the research compound. He is a fast mover and thinker. He is ambitious and generally knows which buttons to press to get what he wants. He can be quite charming and forthcoming, but also be ruthless and hard. For those abilities, he is admired and feared.

Boy, is he into explosives: Professor Cutter, one of Russell’s scientist colleagues, is always trying to figure out how to blow something up. The why doesn’t interest him at all. As he is a workaholic, he needs something to get him down – as whiskey does the same to his brain as explosives to his lab, Cutter’s preferences are quite clear… Unfortunately, Cutter is quite hard of hearing, as he often is too near to the centre of his explosions.

Professor Bartholomew is the propulsion expert. Nobody quite knows what he’s working on, but as the government is financing his experiments, it must be something big.

She’s a serious woman: Dr Oswald worked hard to achieve the position she is in, and has no time for idle chitchat, romance and other non-work related pastimes. As she is used to intrigues and backstabbing, she likes to nose around and be well informed.

Colonel Travers is the chief of the counter espionage department. He seems to be a tough but fair man, but he knows the game well and he pursues his own agendas and strategies, leaving even his own men to wonder what they are.

Basically, Agent McAllistair is a good agent. His only shortcomings are his small size and the jokes about it – then, he can get really nasty. He likes being an agent and is quite eager to prove that he can run with the best. He is very loyal to Colonel Travers and he is also quite fond of Agent Miller, as he has the placing temper McAllistair lacks.

Agent Miller is what one would call the backbone of the agency – he does what he’s told and doesn’t ask too many questions. Miller is quite happy to work with McAllistair, as he thinks that the little guy is quite amusing in his hectic, over-the-top attitude.

Furthermore, Russell meets a lot more remarkable and very idiosyncratic characters at the research compound. Every single one presents a bunch of reasons to be suspected by Russell. There’s just Albert the parrot who seems to be innocent by his own – but is he really…?

dtp entertainment today publishes some new screenshots and wall papers showing the main characters.

Dual Motives is peppered with inventive puzzles and minigames that take advantage of the capabilities of the Nintendo handheld. In one, Russell tries to gain access to a laboratory. But gaining the attention of deaf Professor Cutter demands an extraordinary solution: Russell assembles a blowgun to shoot little paper projectiles at the Professor, who is immersed in his work. Now it’s up to the player to direct the blowgun with stylus and touch screen and take aim at the moving target, as well as fire the projectiles with a well-dosed blast of air into the DS microphone.

Most of the time though, the player will control the two playable characters – Russell and Secretary Audrey – switching between them at will with the press of a button. In order to solve the game’s puzzles he will have to apply their respective abilities and coordinate their actions.

In the new shots, Russell is exploring the exterior of the former factory grounds that have been turned into an elite research facility, while Audrey is investigating the propulsion labs, one of the three main laboratories of the site. The player directs the character through these locations in classic point & click style with the DS stylus.

Undercover: Dual Motives will be released worldwide by dtp entertainment, starting with German-language territories at the end of August 2007.
