Gametap Announces Deals With Phoenix Licensing and Celeris
Company: GameTap
ATLANTA –(September 21, 2006) - GameTap, the first-of-its-kind broadband entertainment network from Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.), today announced it will further grow its ever-expanding network of video game content through licensing agreements with both Celeris and Phoenix Licensing. These deals will add breadth to an already impressive video games library by featuring Phoenix Licensing’s award-winning adventure classic “The Last Express” and Celeris’ best-selling “Virtual Pool” series among the new additions.

“These agreements reflect GameTap’s continued commitment to providing the best and most inclusive library of gaming content available,” said Stuart Snyder, GameTap’s Senior Vice President and General Manager. “While we currently offer more than 600 gaming favorites on our network, the quality of our offerings is as important as the quantity.”

“The Last Express,” which launches on GameTap today, has received Editor’s Choice awards from Computer Gaming World, PC Gamer, Next Generation, and dozens of gaming websites, as well as being awarded as the “Best New Adventure and Role Playing Game” by Games Magazine. Created by Jordan Mechner, mastermind behind the incredibly popular “Prince of Persia” series, “The Last Express” is an indelible adventure experience.

“We’re delighted to partner with GameTap to bring “The Last Express” to a new generation of broadband gamers,” said game designer Jordan Mechner. “Its immersive real-time storytelling offers players a unique interactive experience that has withstood the test of time.”

Celeris’ best-selling “Virtual Pool” series, which is coming to GameTap later this year, has earned similar accolades, including "Best Sports Game of the Year" by PC Gamer, "Best VR Game" by Computer Player, "Best of Everything: Strategy/Sim Games" by Computer Life and Five Stars from MultiMedia World.

“As we continue to evolve our Virtual Pool series, we wanted to find a way to provide gamers with continued access to our award-winning content,” said Steve Chaplin of Celeris. “Based on GameTap’s extensive catalogue and industry presence, we feel its network is the best vehicle in the industry for showcasing video game content once the launch retail window has closed.”

With these exciting new additions, GameTap further solidifies its place in the industry as the premier destination for gamers seeking to experience a full range of the most popular games.

GameTap has also licensed thousands of games from other publishers including Activision, Atari, Eidos Interactive, G-Mode, Intellivision Lives, Midway, Namco, SEGA, TAITO, Team 17, Ubisoft, Vivendi Universal Games, Codemasters, Cyan, Ironstone, Taurus Media, Electronic Arts, Capcom®, GamesOnline/Interplay, Konami, Riverdeep, SNK PLAYMORE, Strategy First Inc., Take-Two Interactive Software, First Star Software, Dreamcatcher Interactive, Knowledge Adventure and 3000AD and Telegames.
