COLUMBIA, SC – Emergent Game Technologies, a leading provider of tools and middleware for the game development and visual simulation industries, has licensed SpeedTree®RT for use in a comprehensive, leading-edge combat simulation in development for the U.S. Department of Defense.
Emergent’s Gamebryo Element, its flexible 3D game engine and tools, is being used by the company’s newly launched custom engineering unit to create lifelike graphics that simulate combat environments, and SpeedTreeRT is a key component of the effort, said Bennett Hazlip, Emergent’s director of marketing.
“Military officers and analysts are well aware of how important dense, wind-animated trees and plants are to an accurate presentation of battlefield dynamics,†said Hazlip. “SpeedTree was the only tool we could find that met the foliage requirements of a next-generation combat simulation.â€
