Cambridge, UK – 22nd November 2013 - Jagex, the UK’s largest independent games studio and creators of RuneScape, the world's most popular free multiplayer online game, today announced the launch of Carnage Racing on Steam. The game combines racing, stunt driving, explosive combat and 8-way online multiplayer into a single adrenaline-fuelled package to satisfy every kind of racing fan.
Having taken Facebook by storm last year and launching on iOS just two months ago, Carnage Racing is the most turbocharged, hi-octane combat racing game to hit Steam. Set on a tropical island raceway packed with hidden paths, boosts, ramps and warp gates, players must outrace their opponents by pulling off audacious stunts and pummel them into last place with an arsenal of deadly weapons. Once drivers have honed their skills in single player they can go to-head with real opponents in the game’s exhilarating online multiplayer mode, enabling them to take on up to seven other gamers from anywhere in the world.
With each race they compete in, players collect prizes and earn hard-fought cash that will help them gain that all-important winning edge. As they progress through the game, drivers can unlock powerful new cars, or trick out their ride with an array of upgradeable items - from more powerful weaponry and performance modifications to a slick new paint job complete with flaming decals.
“Steam is the logical platform for such an action-packed, fun and addictive racing title,” commented David Cobb, producer for Carnage Racing. “We are quickly racing toward the 9 millionth race milestone and with more than 65 million gamers on Steam, we can guarantee that you’ll never be short of competition.”
Carnage Racing will be available to purchase for £6.99 (GBP), $9.99 (USD) or 8.99 (EURO), however, to celebrate the launch, Jagex are offering a 10% discount if purchased before the 28th November 2013.
