Konami Ships Winx Club: Join the Club

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – May 1, 2007 – Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today announced it has shipped Winx Club™: Join the Club to retail stores nationwide. The first game in the series for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, Join the Club lets players enjoy a fun-filled storyline following the six fairy friends and a selection of fast-paced mini-games as they try to save the world from the evil Lord Darkar.
After completing their first year at the Alfea School for Fairies, the girls of the Winx Club are called in to save the world from a new threat: the powerful Lord Darkar. Aided by his three wicked witches Icy, Darcy and Stormy, Darkar has his sights set on the Codex, a powerful emblem that would grant him incredible powers. It’s up to the Winx Club to put an end to Darkar’s scheme and protect the Codex at all costs!
The single player story mode of Winx Club: Join the Club follows Bloom, Flora, Stella, Musa, Tecna and Layla as they take part in a series of mini-games to prevent Lord Darkar from taking possession of the Codex. From the four main areas of the Cloud Tower, Alfea, Red Fountain and Shadow Haunt, players can access a unique set of mini-games that can be played in any order. Featuring fast-paced and fun activities such as racing, casting spells, obstacle courses and skiing, each of the more than 20 mini-games features its own challenge for players to master.
After each mini-game, players will be able to return to the Alfea Dorms where they can customize their area by planting flowers, decorating their room and selecting special outfits for each member of the Winx Club. In the Dorm, players can also watch video clips from the Winx Club television series, read bios on each member and test their memory with special Winx Club trivia. Using the PSP system’s local wireless capabilities, players can also enjoy mini-games and trade items with up to three other players.
