Summer break? Not in Leipzig! Two events in August prove the opposite: Honky Tonk® music festival meets GC (Games Convention). "Play it’s your nature" is the slogan of the GC, Europe's sole trade fair for entertainment, infotainment, edutainment, from 24 to 27 August. At the Leipzig exhibition centre there will be numerous world and European premieres from the world of computer and video games, accompanied by a giant support programme. For evening action, from 26 August the world of live music takes over – at the Honky Tonk® music festival 55 bands and DJs in 34 locations and six open air sessions will ensure that the party goes on and on. Angela Schierholz (GC Project Director) and Edgar Lahrius-Bergmann (organiser of the music festival) are looking forward to the double header of fair and festival: "Both events are unique in their field, together they’re unbeatable. At the GC the fair visitors can experience the latest in the games sector before heading off in the evening for the anniversary Honky Tonk® music festival, which is being staged in Leipzig for the 20th time in 2006."
At the Honky Tonk® there are a lot of new acts to discover, with 31 bands and DJs appearing at the Honky Tonk® for the first time. You would have to take a very deep breath to name all of them here – so here are just a few examples.
One new act is the Magic Boogie Show in Gasthaus Barthels Hof, with boogie-woogie, rhythm `n` blues and rock `n` roll. It should also be mentioned here that Boogieman Vito is also celebrating his birthday on 26 August. No better reason for turning up to celebrate his birthday AND Honky Tonk®…
