Puppeteers - The New MMORPG by Nect

MMORPG, a genre pursued by only 5 developers in Korea, takes center stage once again with a unique concept. Dubbed “Puppeteers,” this new game was developed by NECT, a new game developer established earlier this year by a group of veteran game developers with more than 10 years experience.
In “Puppeteers,” gamers feel as if they have full control over the characters by becoming a puppeteer. After only 8 months since development commenced, it is now undergoing an alpha test within the company. First open service is slated as early as the end of this year.
One of the major features of “Puppeteers” is moving a part of the character’s body with the mouse to maximize the freedom of action within the game. In conventional games, you can only perform set actions once you press a specific key. “Puppeteers” used a different method, however. The developers enabled characters to have detailed movements according to the motion of the mouse/cursor.
For example, “Puppeteers” features a motion wherein the basic attack involves wielding a weapon from the upper right corner to the lower left corner. When you do this, you can control the flow of the game to your advantage by enhancing the likelihood of hitting the weak point of the enemy by adjusting the angle at which a sword is wielded using the mouse. This feature enables more realistic game play.
Moreover, since neat graphics such as console games and very detailed depiction such as the movement of the character’s eyes according to the location of the mouse cursor are drawing attention, the game is expected to receive many good responses from users not only in the Asian region such as Japan and China but also North America and Europe.
Game developer NECT is set to participate in the export talks of GSTAR 2008 to be held at KINTEX in Ilsan Korea on Nov. 13~16 as part of its efforts to provide global services. It is currently giving continuous feedback to Korean and overseas buyers.
