San Jose, CA June28th, 2007 – OnNet USA announced today that the second annual Greenman’s Charity Tournament, which was held from 4/10 until 4/21 on the Alfheim course, was a great success. OnNet USA held this memorial tournament in honor of a Shot-Online player who passed away from ALS. Greenman was the character name chosen by this player. The event was intended to remember Greenman and also increase awareness about ALS. Â
This year’s event saw almost an eight-fold increase in players who completed the required 18 holes when compared to the event in 2006.Â
A financial donation was also made to the Driving 4 Life non-profit organization in conjunction with the Greenman Memorial Tournament.   "Each year, thousands of people participate in Driving 4 LIfe fundraising golf events around the country. Conducting a virtual event is a unique and great way to raise much needed dollars and awareness for ALS.  Thanks to OnNetUSA, Driving4Life is $2k steps closer to a cure!".Â
“It was great to see such a good response to this eventâ€, said Chris Yamauchi, PM of Shot-Online. Â
About ALS
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks motor neurons in the brain (upper motor neurons) and spinal cord (lower motor neurons). These motor neurons control the movement of voluntary muscles. When the motor neurons can no longer send impulses to the muscles due to ALS, the muscles begin to waste away (atrophy), causing increased muscle weakness. Motor neuron, or nerve cell, death makes it impossible for the brain to control muscles or signal them to move.
