The Numbers Are In: Baseball Mogul Is #1

February 15, 2007 – Baseball Mogul 2007 topped 115,000 units in sales in 2007, according to year-end numbers published by NPD Research. This figure makes Baseball Mogul 2007 the best-selling PC baseball game for the year. In previous years, Baseball Mogul has trailed action-oriented games such as Electronic Arts' MVP Baseball. But 2007 saw continued growth in the "franchise simulation" genre created by Baseball Mogul and Football Mogul, leading to the first time that a non-action sports game has been the #1 title on a platform.
The numbers are also in from the reviewers, who made Baseball Mogul 2007 the highest-rated PC baseball game of the year, according to GameRankings.com. This year's Baseball Mogul 2007 was the first game ever to give the player full control of any historical baseball franchise while also adding the strategic option of playing each game pitch-by-pitch. To achieve this level of realism, Sports Mogul built a database tracking stats for every season from 1900 to 2006, including individual pitch ratings and pitching styles for every pitcher.
"This is the first time we've been able to lay claim to the title of #1 baseball game," said Clay Dreslough, creator of the Mogul games. "Fans of realistic baseball simulations have enjoyed our games for years. It's great to see mainstream baseball fans get as much enjoyment from the game that we worked so hard on."
