CALABASAS HILLS, Calif., March 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- THQ Inc. (Nasdaq: THQI - News) today announced the release of Full Spectrum Warrior(TM) for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, transforming the most comfortable living rooms nationwide into an all guts, no glory war zone. Built for the legions of PlayStation 2 owners hungry for the critically acclaimed and highly successful game originally launched for the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft, the squad-based tactical action combat includes a number of game enhancements and features specific to the PlayStation 2 version -- including an all-new level and Co-Op play for the two bonus levels originally available for the Xbox title. Developed by Mass Media Studios under the supervision of Pandemic Studios, Full Spectrum Warrior has shipped to retailers for a suggested retail price of $19.99.
"Full Spectrum Warrior continues to be one of the most visually impressive games ever launched. It truly simulates the actions and reactions of a squad leader and his soldiers in hostile settings through simple and intuitive controls," said Peter Dille, senior vice president of worldwide marketing, THQ. "Consumer response to Pandemic's modern blend of strategic and authentic squad-based combat continues to exceed our expectations and we're excited to introduce the experience to PlayStation 2 owners."
"The game delivers tactical and strategic squad combat not seen in today's popular military games and carries the genre to a new level of reality and entertainment," said David Todd, president and CEO of Mass Media. "We're thrilled to have an opportunity to work with the brand and inject some new features not available on any other platform, providing more gameplay and story elements to this truly innovative and immersive game."
Those ready for the challenge must flank, suppress, smoke out and ultimately clear out the opposition, leading two infantry teams through a hostile foreign battlefield. But that's not all. Players will also use different methods of route en cover to rescue fellow soldiers under fire, at times entrenched within an inch of their lives. In order to succeed, armchair soldiers will need to rise to the constant pressures of life on the frontlines, while out thinking and out maneuvering enemies through 13 levels of intense combat. If communication skills are sharp, players can also enlist online and team up with a friend for Two-Player Co-Op gameplay, working together for peace and honor.
Since its unveiling, the press have been raving about Full Spectrum Warrior:
"The main themes here are all about planning, patience, and realism and those three factors are never compromised."
"It doesn't happen often. But sometimes a game comes along that's truly different. Full Spectrum Warrior is one of them. A mad cross-breed of action and strategy, Full Spectrum Warrior drops you in the thick of the action."
