88 Flak is a mod for the Freelancer purist whom is looking for a drastic change in gameplay without adding any non-Freelancer ships, factions, or systems; there are a few new systems however the main game is concentrated around the normal systems. The main goal of the mod is to provide the most intense combat possible while keeping everything at an even, balanced level. For instance, instead of linear balancing for ships, Flak adopts a more Team-Fortress style balancing where nothing is better, just different. For instance, while a Light Fighter is very fast, it is limited in firepower and defense capability. A Very Heavy Fighter will be very slow with horrid turning, yet will support impressive firepower and even a Capital Ship gun for long-range sniping purposes (there are long-range cannons available that can shoot up to 8Km away). A Heavy Fighter would fall somewhere in-between the two, etc.
