Today's News
Twelve Interactive today announced they acquired the license to develop a game based on Tarzan from Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc, the company which holds all rights to the franchise. Tarzan The Video Game will be developed for the on Wii, PLAYSTATION 3, Xbox 360 and PC with the help of the Gamebryo game engine, from Emergent Game Technologies. A release date is still to be announced.

Nintendo today announced that Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon will be released across Europe on December 5th. The game is based on Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, which was created in 1990 for the NES console but never released in Europe. A wide range of characters, with unique powers and integrated storylines, adds depth to the game, which features a range of new side stories and several difficulty levels to suit everybody. Using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, players can battle over the internet or against one another in the same room, access a special armoury shop or lend/borrow troops to/from friends.

Slitherine today announced their line-up for the rest of 2008 and 2009. Under the History brand, they will release HISTORY: Great Empires Pharaohs on handheld devices this autumn and HISTORY: Great Battles of the Middle Ages on next generation platforms during spring 2009. Under the Military History brand, the company plans two titles in the Commander series for handhelds: MILITARY HISTORY: Commander Europe at War in February and MILITARY HISTORY: Napoleon Europe at War later in 2009.

Gala Networks Europe has announced that Dragonica, a new MMO which puts the 3D side-scrolling action into an online format, will be released in English, French and German languages via the European gPotato gaming portal during Q1 2009. A mixture of classic 2D side-scrollers and combo heavy action games, the combat system from Dragonica will allow you to experiment with various attack combinations to see the most eye-popping and comical combat animations. In Dragonica, you can own a house and decorate it with furniture, a pet house, a mailbox, or even trophies. We have a couple of new gameplay movies from Legendary, showcasing this game developed by Spark Unlimited and scheduled to hit the store shelves this October, for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Legendary tells the story of Charles Deckard, an art thief who is duped into stealing Pandora's Box. When he opens the box, he releases hordes of beasts thought to be fictional such as werewolves and gryphons into an unprepared modern world. A full scale war between man and myth begins, and it is quickly complicated by the actions of powerful secret societies. As the person responsible for releasing this terror, Deckard's unwittingly become the only person capable of containing it once more and saving civilization from being destroyed by the terrifying creatures of the box.

Activision has released a playable demo of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa Video Game, allowing you to try out this videogame based on the feature film from DreamWorks Animation and scheduled for November 2008. The four famous zoo animals - Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo - and their entire madcap Madagascar crew take players on a whole new action-packed journey to help save the African savannah. Assuming the roles of all their favorite characters, including those crafty penguins, players must work through 12 distinct levels featuring a variety of wild adventures and fun mini-games. In addition to the diverse single-player gameplay, the Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa Video Game delivers an enhanced multiplayer tournament mode allowing gamers to participate in competitions alongside or against friends and family.

Activision has released a new trailer from Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, showcasing the latest installment in the Spider-Man video game series due to hit the store shelves on October 21st, for PC and next-generation consoles. Set in an apocalyptic New York City, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows gives players an unprecedented level of gameplay choices, including for the first time, control over the game's direction and outcome. The all new combat system allows for truly three-dimensional battles that start in the streets, continue up sides of buildings and finish on rooftops. Gamers can instantly switch between Spider-Man's agile red suit and his formidable black suit, choose to ally with Marvel's honored heroes or ferocious villains, pick which character abilities to upgrade, and decide which missions to undertake in order to protect Manhattan from certain destruction.

Candella Systems and Eipix Entertainment have released the intro movie of Pyroblazer, a futuristic combat racing game which will be available for the PC, Wii and PSP later this year. Set amidst the awe-inspiring locations of New Apeiron, players get the opportunity to race through a multitude of environments using a wide selection of anti-gravity craft known as Blazers. In their quest for glory, players can blast their way through the scorched valleys of Gnosis, the deserted cities of Haedra or the densely populated Underdome of Evelads. As the players fight their way through the championship, improved Blazers with better speed, handling and superior firepower become available. Players also have the ability to pick up weapon and ammo upgrades during the race, further enhancing their ability to land the killer blow.

Wii Music is a game where you can play most of the 60-plus instruments with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers. Strum to play guitar, banjo and sitar.
