Battlefield 40k is a total conversion of Battlefield 1942 based on Games Workshops table top war-game - Warhammer 40,000. Set in the future, in the year 40,000 AD. Worlds are at war, the Empire heroically battles the forces of evil with devastating results. Featuring Imperial Guard, Space Marines a race of genetically enhanced â€˜superâ€™ human, battle hardened and clothed in suits of powered armor. The adeptus astartes, or space marines, are the finest soldiers under the emperor's control. These super-human marines were developed by the adeptus mechanicus of mars. The procedure to turn a simple human into one of these fighting machines involves implantation of cybernetic organs and other gene and mental manipulation. The Imperial forces battle the Eldar and Necron. Eldar, an ancient race of elf who embraces technology, whom have developed some of the most advanced technology known to mankind. Immersed in a battle of survival in a galaxy overrun by barbaric usurpers, Eldar warriors are diverse, utilizing advanced weaponry, ultra fast tanks using â€˜Anti Gravityâ€™ technology and mysterious weapons of war.. The Necrons are skeletal warriors whom have lain dormant in their stasis-tombs for millions of years. After ancient portents had been realized a horror from the darkest depths of pre-history was awoken...
