======================================================================== GRAND THEFT AUTO 4 SPECIAL VEHICLE FAQ ======================================================================== Author: Johnny H. H. the 4th (Lancet Jades) Author's Homepage: http://www.evemoreforums.com/forums/index.php Version: 0.30 (completed May 9th, 2008) Sites with permission to post this FAQ: GameFAQs.com Neoseeker.com Gamesradar.com Cheatplanet.com GamersHell.com Supercheats.com Mycheats.com ======================================================== VERSION HISTORY ======================================================== 0.10 Completed May 3rd, 2008. Prototype edition. 0.15 Completed May 6th, 2008. Second incomplete edition. 0.20 Completed May 7th, 2008. Third incomplete edition. Added info on possible spoilers and about sites who wish to use this guide. 0.25 Completed May 8th, 2008. Fourth incomplete edition. 0.30 Completed May 9th, 2008. Fifth incomplete edition. Removed UJ (Unjackable) and vehicles therein from the listing of vehicles for much the same reason I didn't include locked cars in my PS2-era guides: it's pointless. Removed a lot of vehicles that turned out not to be special. ======================================================== ABOUT ======================================================== This guide is to assist those players who enjoy collecting rare or unique vehicles. This guide lists all known proofed, special property, unique, and even rare vehicles (which often have to be unlocked). I'd say more, but I pretty much just summed it up. Yes, this is the same preamble as my other guides. Copy/paste FTW. This guide was written with the X-Box 360 version, not the PS3 version. No differences are known as of yet, however there may be some. This guide is NOT a "rare car" guide. Vehicles that appear rarely, but DO appear in free roam (such as Infernus) do NOT qualify for the scope of this guide. Only cars that have some special feature such as proofing, special paintjob, special features, or can only be acquired via missions are included. CAUTION! This guide may inadvertently contain spoilers of story missions! While this guide's scope does not really involve spoiling anything, due to what is required of it, the potential for small spoilers, such as names or events is present. Just keep that in mind. ======================================================== TABLE OF CONTENTS ======================================================== 1: Terms in the guide 2: Parking Spots and Garages 3: Proofed vehicles (None as of yet) 4: Unique vehicles 4.1 - Laundromat 5: Specially Colored/Featured vehicles 5.1 - Beige Willard (1st of 2) 5.2 - Beige Willard (2nd of 2) 5.3 - Light Blue Marbelle 5.4 - Black and Red Zombie 5.5 - Maroon Flatbed 5.6 - Black Stallion 6: Unobtainable special vehicles 6.1 - CP Beige Willard 6.2 - CP Ruiner 6.3 - CP Light Blue Marbelle 6.4 - CP Black and Red Zombie 7: Rare vehicles 7.1 - Roman's Taxi 8: Unconfirmed vehicles (For now, all are considered unconfirmed) 9: Mission List 10: Frequently Asked Questions 11: Contact info 12: Credits 13: Boilerplate ======================================================== *1* TERMS IN THE GUIDE ======================================================== This is a listing of all the special terms used in this guide. BP - Bulletproof. This vehicle will not take damage from bullets. Windows cannot be damaged, and shots will not count towards the car being destroyed. Unlike the previous GTAs, tires are apparently also immune to being popped by gunfire. FP - Fireproof. This vehicle will not catch fire or otherwise take damage from molotovs. Tires also will not catch fire. This does not prevent the car from catching fire from critical damage. EP - Explosionproof. This car is immune to explosive damage, such as from grenades, rocket launchers, or exploding cars. Does not stop the car itself from exploding. DP - Damageproof. This car cannot be damaged by bashing it around (into other cars, walls, etc.) or by melee attacks. This does not prevent cosmetic damage, or damage to the structure (such as wheel wells). CP - Comprehensiveproof. This combines the qualities of bulletproof, fireproof, explosionproof, and damageproof. Jack - To jack a vehicle means to steal it. This is probably not a necessary entry, but I figured I'd add it just in case. Unique - This vehicle is unique and found in story missions only, or other limited-time availability missions, and thus can be missed altogether. Unobtainable - A vehicle that, for whatever reason, cannot be obtained and/or stored with its properties. Whether it's impossible to even drive, or a garage eats its property, you simply cannot acquire and save this vehicle. ======================================================== *2* PARKING SPOTS ======================================================== Places to store vehicles. When you load a game, all stored vehicles are restored to top condition and health. Even destroyed vehicles will be repaired, so long as you get the carcass of the vehicle into the spot. Even Helicopters may be saved in parking spots. The number in parenthesis is the maximum number of vehicles that can be stored. Although creative positioning of cars can technically fit more, the game will delete vehicles until only that number remains. -Roman's Apartment, Mohawk Ave., Hove Beach (2) -Mallorie's Apartment, Joliet St., South Bohan (2) ======================================================== *3* PROOFED VEHICLES ======================================================== These vehicles all have a special proofing, granting them immunity from one or more forms of damage. NO OBTAINABLE PROOFED VEHICLES HAVE BEEN FOUND YET ======================================================== *4* UNIQUE VEHICLES ======================================================== These vehicles only appear during story missions, and once the game is completed, cannot be acquired without cheating. --------- 4.1 - Laundromat --------- Mission: Hung Out to Dry (Vlad) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: Lancet Jades Strategy: Instead of going to the front of the Laundromat, go around back first. The Laundromat van will be sitting there. Break in and jack it. Be warned, however, that this will fail the mission, but is the only way to obtain this vehicle. NOTE: This vehicle comes in a variety of colors. ======================================================== *5* SPECIALLY COLORED/FEATURED VEHICLES ======================================================== These vehicles all have some special color of feature that the vehicle usually does not have. --------- 5.1 - Beige Willard (1st of 2) --------- Mission: It's Your Call (Roman Bellic) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: Lancet Jades Strategy: This is the car the Albanian loan sharks drive. Smash the window or otherwise attack the loan sharks to fail the mission, then simply drive it back to your apartment's parking space. --------- 5.2 - Beige Willard (2nd of 2) --------- Mission: Bleed Out (Roman Bellic) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: Lancet Jades Strategy: Again, the Albanians use this car. Dardan drives off in this, but once killed you can claim the vehicle yourself. You'll have to drive it and Roman's Taxi back and forth from wherever you claim it to your safehouse if you want to pass the mission, however. --------- 5.3 - Silver Merit --------- Mission: First Date (Michelle) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: Lancet Jades Strategy: Simply keep the car after finishing the mission. --------- 5.4 - Light Blue Marbelle --------- Mission: Uncle Vlad (Roman Bellic) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: Lancet Jades Strategy: Vlad drives this car during the chase. Simply take it back to your parking spot after finishing the mission. Careful, as it starts out heavily damaged. --------- 5.5 - Black and Red Zombie --------- Mission: No Love Lost (Mikhail Faustin) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: (if you're the one who emailed me about the Zombies in this mission, email me again. I'll have your address on file so I'll know who). Strategy: These are the bikes used by the gang in this mission. Simply take one from a fallen gang member after or during the mission. --------- 5.6 - Maroon Flatbed --------- Mission: Rigged to Blow (Mikhail Faustin) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: Lancet Jades Strategy: This is the truck with the bomb. To save it, park it at your safehouse parking spot and shoot at it until it blows up (it should only take 3-4 shots maximum). Quickly go save the game, then reload. The truck should be waiting for you, all shiny and new (even though it was dirty in the mission). --------- 5.7 - Black Stallion --------- Mission: Escuela of the Streets (Mallorie) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: Lancet Jades Strategy: The dealers drive this vehicle during the following scene. After they arrive at the warehouse, get in and drive off. This disappears after finishing the mission, so failing is required to keep it. ======================================================== *6* UNOBTAINABLE SPECIAL VEHICLES ======================================================== These vehicles are unobtainable for whatever reason is listed. This can include any vehicle type from the previous three sections, but as they cannot be acquired permanently, there is no need to put them in those sections. --------- 6.1 - CP Beige Willard --------- Mission: Bleed Out (Roman Bellic) Discovered by: Lancet Jades Strategy: This is the car before the chase with Dardan is triggered. Attacking it will cause Bledar and Kalem to attack you immediately, but it cannot be damaged before the chase. Unobtainable: Before the chase, it is unjackable, and afterwards it loses its properties. --------- 6.2 - CP Ruiner --------- Mission: Ivan the Not So Terrible (Vlad) Discovered by: Lancet Jades Strategy: This is the car Ivan drives during the chase. As his can accelerate far beyond you to keep ahead of you, there is no way to actually claim the car. Unobtainable: It loses its property when he crashes at the construction site. --------- 6.3 - CP Light Blue Marbelle --------- Mission: Uncle Vlad (Roman Bellic) Discovered by: Lancet Jades Strategy: This is the car Vlad drives during the chase. As his can accelerate far beyond you to keep ahead of you, there is no way to actually claim the car. Unobtainable: It loses its property when he crashes at the riverside dock. --------- 6.4 - CP Black and Red Zombie --------- Mission: No Love Lost (Mikhail Faustin) Discoverd by: Lancet Jades Strategy: This is the bike driven by the target up until the rest of the gang joins the fight. Unobtainable: Cannot jack it, and it loses its property after the gang shows up. ======================================================== *7* RARE VEHICLES ======================================================== These vehicles aren't anything inherently special, but are nonetheless unique for various reasons, often requiring completion of a mission or side mission to unlock. These can all be obtained at the end of the game without any problem --------- 7.1 - Roman's Taxi --------- Unlocked: When Roman's Respect stat reaches 100% (Special Ability). Found: Call Roman for a free taxi and it will appear. Missions the car may also be found in: The Cousins Bellic, It's Your Call, Bleed Out, Easy Fare, Jamaican Heat, Roman's Sorrow ======================================================== *8* UNCONFIRMED VEHICLES ======================================================== These are vehicles that are as of yet unconfirmed. They are thought to exist with whatever special properties they are mentioned, but whether they can be obtained as such, or even CAN possess said properties is unknown. Credit will go to whomever can provide evidence they exist. FOR THE MOMENT, ALL VEHICLES IN THIS GUIDE ARE CONSIDERED UNCONFIRMED. CONFIRMING THAT THE VEHICLES LISTED ARE IN FACT UNIQUE AND SPECIAL IS TOP PRIORITY. ======================================================== *9* MISSION LIST ======================================================== Just a rudimentary list of the game's missions. 1: The Brothers Bellic (Start of the game) 2: It's Your Call (Roman Bellic) ~5.1 - Beige Willard (1st of 2) 3: Three's a Crowd (Roman Bellic) 4a: Bleed Out (Roman Bellic) ~5.2 - Beige Willard (2nd of 2) ~6.1 - Unobtainable CP Beige Willard 4b: First Date (Michelle) 5: Easy Fare (Roman Bellic) 6: Jamaican Heat (Roman Bellic) 7: Bull in a China Shop (Vlad) 8: Hung Out to Dry (Vlad) ~4.1 - Laundromat 9: Clean Getaway (Vlad) 10: Ivan the Not So Terrible (Vlad) ~6.2 - Unobtainable CP Ruiner 11: Uncle Vlad (Roman Bellic) ~5.3 - Light Blue Marbelle ~6.3 - Unobtainable CP Light Blue Marbelle 12: Concrete Jungle (Little Jacob) 13: Crime and Punishment (Roman Bellic) 14: Do You Have Protection? A: Email me, and let me know. You will receive full credit for it. Q: [Insert vehicle] doesn't possess a property you said it did! A: Most likely, you did not follow the precise strategy. If you did, and it does not retain its property, contact me and say so, although I personally check each and every vehicle. Q: [Insert vehicle] isn't special, but you still have it listed here! A: Send me the info on where it can be found at any time (especially the end of the game), and I'll adjust or remove it from this guide accordingly. Q: One of the vehicles you listed is one I discovered first, and here's proof! Thief! A: If you have proof you discovered a vehicle first, show it to me and if I determine you really did discover it first, credit will be given. ======================================================== *11* CONTACT INFORMATION ======================================================= THERE WILL BE A LOT OF INFO I NEED, THINGS TESTED, VEHICLES DISCOVERED, AND SO ON. DO NOT HESITATE TO EITHER EMAIL ME OR POST A MESSAGE ON THE GTA4 360 FORUM (NOT PS3). My screenname is LancetJades on GameFAQs. Feel free to IM me on AIM as well. If I don't respond, I'm not ignoring you, I just tend to wander away from my computer at times. I'm still playing through the game, so I do not know of any vehicles in later story missions unfortunately. If you wish to contact me, just email me: lancet jades at g mail dot com (remove the spaces, obviously, and replace the at with the proper sign) Alternatively, IM me at: AIM: Lancet Jades YIM: lancetjades (not on often) MSN: psionicsword@hotmail.com (rarely on) I never check my @hotmail.com address, so don't send mail to it. I don't mind being contacted about this game, so don't hesitate if you have a question or comment. But if you're gonna flame me, it won't work (I'll just have a good laugh and ignore you). I'm a perfectionist, so if you have anything to contribute or correct, please do so. You'll receive full credit (credit goes to the screenname you talk to me from, so if you want another name, you have to specify it). Even if you're pointing out a spelling or grammatical mistake, please do so, no matter how small. Note however, I live in the U.S., and as such, spelling it "color" instead of "colour" is NOT a mistake. If you wish to use this guide on your site, aside from asking my permission, I require you in question to automatically fetch any updates I make from GameFAQs.com yourselves. I only update to GameFAQs.com and if I discover other sites carrying my guides have out-of-date versions, I will ask that it be removed. ======================================================== *12* CREDITS ======================================================== GTA_Loco ~For giving me the inspiration to write this guide and others. Yvl ~Info on the silver Blista Compact in Clean Getaway, even though it turned out not to be special. And the many people who have emailed and IMed me about this game and its vehicles. While you may not have had any actual vehicles to suggest, or they turned out not to be special, I appreciate all of the emails/IMs. ======================================================== *13* BOILERPLATE ======================================================== This document Copyright 2008 John Hoffnagle IV.
