Classes [0300]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay before you send me 500 E-Mails saying "There are no Classes you $#&@!!!"
I KNOW! This is merely a Guide for later sections, instead of me saying
"if your using (Insert Gun) and using (Insert Skills 1,2,3) try (Insert Tactic)
or if you are using (insert Gun) and using ..."
I can instead say, "If you are (Insert Class) then try (insert Tactic)"
This allows both the guide and yourself to be more versatile.

Description - What you have to do
Tips/Tricks - Helpful things to know
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Game Mode: Deathmatch
Rules: A free-for-all match with no Teams.
Defeat other players for points.
Win by having the most points when time ends or when no tickets remain.
Drebin Points: Available
Description: Free-For-All Game Mode where you have to fight for yourself
against everyone else.
Tips/Tricks: To score high aim a little higher for quick headshots.
Knocking out earns you more points and you can combine it with
a Kill for even more.
Traps are very good in this mode as you won't have problems with
Friendly Fire, just don't set them off yourself.
Game Mode: Team Deathmatch
Rules: Red Team vs. Blue Team
Win by fighting alongside your teammates and reducing the other team's
tickets to zero.
Drebin Points: Available
Description: Red vs. Blue Game mode where you will be on either Team and have
to kill members of the other team, at the top of the screen are how
how many times you have to kill or be killed, when it reaches Zero
then the team loses, if time runs out the team with the most
tickets left wins.
Tips/Tricks: If you are not confident or keep getting killed in an area then
trust your teammates, stick with them and either aid them or
combine your firepower to kill the enemy faster.
Use Swat Tactics to advance without getting ambushed and to make
your team stronger.
Traps don't choose there targets, they can Kill you and Teammates
too and they activate Friendly Fire Lock-Out as well.
Game Mode: Rescue Mission
Rules: Battle over the fate of GA-KO!
The attacking team must bring GA-KO back to it's goal to win.
The defending team guards GA-KO.
You can also win by defeating all members of opposing team.
Drebin Points: Availabe
Description: This is a Search and Destroy style Mission, no respawns for either
team, the defending team must protect the GA-KO but if it is moved
it won't return to starting point even if carrier is killed.
Possibly returns after a short time once dropped.
Tips/Tricks: Watch your Map, if the GA-KO is taken dont' foolishly follow the
person who took it, look at where they have to go and cut them off.
Empty Hands make Light Work! When you need to move faster switch to
Grenades, Handgun or Nothing, you will move quicker.
Traps can be a good last defence, but look out for them as they
can kill you and teammates too.
Game Mode: Capture Mission
Rules: Race to capture KEROTAN and GA-KO.
Capture the target, then take it back to your team's goal and protect it
until the timer reaches zero.
If both goals have a KEROTAN or GA-KO, the timer is reset.
Drebin Points: Available
Description: Capture the Flag style only with a difference. Unless there are a
lot of players there will only be one KEROTAN or GA-KO. When you
capture it you will see on your Map a flashing Circle, take the
Kerotan/GA-KO there (Not to your Starting Point!)
Tips/Tricks: Try not to rush the KEROTAN/GA-KO head on, instead get it in
your sights and then shoot anyone who foolishly rushes for it.
Throwing grenades on the target to stop rushers can be foolish, if
a Teamamte is at the target he will get hit. Think before Throwing!
Defend the person with the Target, don't hesitate to throw yourself
in the Line of Fire.
The Base is small, Grenades can be good to disrupt the Carrier.
Game Mode: Sneaking Mission
Rules: One player controls Snake, fully equipped with OctoCamo!
If many players join, one player becomes Metal Gear Mk.II and can
support Snake.
Snake wins if he collects a det number of dog tags.
(To obtain dog tags, knock out or hold up other players and then do a
body search by pressing (Triangle) button)
Other players win by killing Snake a set number of times.
If the time expires first, victory goes to the team which killed more
players from the opposing team.
Drebin Points: Unavailable
Description: For the Most part this is Team Deathmatch, in the mix is Snake
trying to collect Dog Tags. If you are Snake you need to either
get close to a one of the Team Players and draw your weapon to
hold them up (then use Triangle to search them) or use Non-Lethal
attacks to render them uncouncious then pat them to get Dog Tags.
If Snake dies he will lose the collected Dog Tags and have to
start again. The other team have to kill Snake 3 times each (not
Total, EACH!) you can follow your kills at the top of the screen
(Top number is how many of the opposition have been killed under
that is the times your team has killed Snake).
Tips/Tricks: Use Face Camo, it will raise your Camo Index by 10-20% (only way to
get 99% Camo Index)
Snake can be spotted easier if he is in Light (Shadow), if he moves
(Faded) or if he breathes out in cold areas (Steam).
Look out for how many Dog Tags Snake has and when you see a
Teammate has been knocked out look on Map for a Teammate that is
not moving, if you kill him you both reset his Collection and get
one step closer to victory.
Body Searches take a long time, if they are lying down or
uncouncious you can get the Dog Tags faster, however when you pat
down an uncouncious player they get back some Psyche.
Game Mode: Base Mission
Rules: Battle to control bases located throughout the map.
The first team to capture all the bases, or the team with the most bases
when time runs out, wins.
Drebin Points: Available
Description: Domination style game mode. You need to collect bases before the
Opposiition, remember that if you are on a Base they can't capture
and the more people on a tile the faster it is gained. First one to
capture all bases wins
Tips/Tricks: Traps are a good way to stop the enemy from taking back bases.
try to split your team up into Attacking and Defending, Attakcking
tries to take bases and Defending protects them from being taken.
If a base is being taken/gained it will flash on the Map.
Game Mode: Team Sneaking
Rules: A battle between two teams with different gear.
The sneaking team (Stealth-equipped) must eliminate all enemies, or bring
KEROTAN or GA-KO to their goal to win.
The defending team must defeat all enemies or keep KEROTAN and GA-KO safe
to win.
Drebin Points: Unavailable
Description: A cross between Rescue and Sneaking Mission. No Repawning, the
stealth camo is linked, at the tiop of the screen you will see 2
guns crossed over, if they disappear a bar will appear and a timer
during this time you need to get out of sight as you will be fully
exposed, once the bar reaches the middle/timer reaches zero you
will become invisible again. Invisibilty is taken off if shot or
grabbed.
Tips/Tricks: Your Shadow and Gun are always visible, but unnoticable in shade.
Tracers Work Both Ways! When an invisble person fires trace the
bullet back to origin.
The attacking team only has a Mk. 2 so use it to full effect by
aiming for headshots.

TeamPlay [0900]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When playing MGO I find that many people don't know the benefit of working with
there Teammates. Not playing as a Team can also affect the outcome of a Round.
For this section I will discuss the main areas of Teamplay in order to try to
help anyone who is having trouble with playing in a Team.
The Four Areas that you should try to focus on in a Match are:
Your Strengths (What You Can Do)
Your Weaknesses (What You Can't Do)
Your Teammates Strengths/Weaknesses
Your Oppenents Strengths/Weaknesses
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Your Strengths [0901]
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
When you are in a Team Your Strengths are one of the First things you should be
thinking about, it may seem obvious but many people don't seem to know there own
strengths. For instance some people are good snipers but they find they are shot
often by other snipers, this means they have Sniping Skill, but aren't so good
at Counter-Sniping. When you are playing always consider what you are good at.
IMPORTANT: Try to keep in mind that every strength you use reveals to an
opponent what you are good at as well as where you are, if you are
a Sniper in an Open Street (like Midtown Maelstrom) then once you
have fired on an opponent they will know where you are, keep this
in mind and maybe move from one side to another, or be more aware of
being flanked, don't let yourself become complacent just coz you
killed several of the enemy with one thing you are good at, try
to vary your game play to keep your opponent guessing.
Strengths to Consider.
Itchy Trigger Finger Can Start Shooting an Opponent First
Sniping Can Shoot Opponents with a Sniper Rifle
Counter-Sniping Can Shoot Snipers with a Ranged Shot
Running and Gunning Move Whilst Shooting
Grenadier Can Use Grenades to Effect
Ampidextrous Can Switch Shoulder View to Effect
Ambushing Can Surprise Attack Opponents
Hunter Can Chase Opponents Down
Dodger Can Get Away from Attackers
More to Come...
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Your Weaknesses [0902]
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
For everything you do well, you will usually find one thing you are not so good
at, knowing your Weaknesses will help you alot, once you identify what you are
not good at then you can work on solutions to help lessen the impact.
IMPORTANT: Try to remember that even if you can't do something now you can still
Learn it or get better at it later, BUT Not Always! Don't feel like
you are a Failure or that you can't have fun, to let you all in on a
secret I can't shoot a Moving Target in Sniping to Save my Life, Pun
Intended. I just can't lead out a Target effectivly, how do I deal
with it? I don't go for small targets, or I don't pull the trigger,
I aim for the bodyshots or I inform my Teammates if I can, or I move
so I can shoot them from a corner or such.
Weaknesses to Consider.
Reserved Slow to Fire on an Opponent
Sniped Get Shot from Ranged Shots (Usually Head)
Counter-Sniped Get Ranged Shot while Sniping
Stop-Shot You Stop Moving to Shoot
Dud Fail with Grenades
Dsylexic Can't Switch Shoulder View Effectively
Tunnel Vision Prone to Getting Shot from Side (Ambushed)
Prey Get Chased Down by Others
Target Once Targeted you Can't Escape
More to Come...
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Your Teammates Strengths/Weaknesses [0903]
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Now that you have a good idea of your own talents, you should focus on what your
Teammates are capable of doing and what they are not capable of doing, this
section is important sicne many people I encounter who try to lead a Team often
forget that not everyone in there Team is great at doing everything. Nothing
pisses me off then having a self appointed Leader tell me to get on top a
building and Snipe, this isnt' because I am a bad Sniper, I'm just not good a
Sniping at Height, I am much better at Ground Level Sniping.
I combined Strengths and Weaknesses in this section since I feel that you only
need to pay attention to what your Teammates are doing without getting too
involved, whereas with your Own Strengths/Weaknesses you need think about it
more.
Several ways to observe your Teams Strengths/Weaknesses.
Look at Their Title (See Title Section).
Look at Their Weapon.
Observe How they react to Situations.
Keep a Tab on What your Teammates are Killing with or being Killed with.
Ask Them.
Also here are some Team Based Strengths/Weaknesses
Team Player Works With Team to Effect
Team Sniper Sniper Who Covers Advancing Teammates
Team Gunner Advances on Opponents using Combined Power
Swat Tactics Uses Carful Tactics to Advance
Deserter Doesn't Assist Teammates
Rambo Wannabe Tries to Win on Own Against Odds
Careless Handler Hits Teammates and Opponents in Skirmishes
Thief Takes Kills from CQC'ers (For Easy Kill)
More to Come...
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Your Opponents Strengths/Weaknesses [0904]
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The last area to consider is your Opponents, again combined, as it can be a good
way to Counteract or Out Think your Opponents. When you consider your opponents
don't forget that they can change rapidly so only take what you learn about them
into account as a general observation and not solid information.
Several ways to observe your Opponents Strengths/Weaknesses.
Look at Their Title (See Title Section).
Look at Their Weapon.
Observe How they react to Situations.
Keep a Tab on What your Opponents are Killing with or being Killed with.
If they were on your Team and have changed then you can use the Above Section.
Use the above Sections for what Opponents Strengths/Weaknesses might use.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tactics [1000]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay this will be by far one of the Biggest Sections and I will use as much
of the above sections (Mostly Classes) to try to shorten the amount of typing
and to cause less confusion. I have split this section up in two ways to start
with later I will split it further, at the moment I have just Solo Tactics and
Team-Based Tactics, When I have enough Tactics I will further split them into
Map-Based, Rules-Based, Situation-Based and Class-Based.
Remember if you have any Tactics of your own, even small ones send them in.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Solo [1001]
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Okay as the name implies this section is for action performed when you are alone
this could be for several reasons, all your Teammates could be dead, you might
prefer the Stealth Approach that Solo can provide or you might just not be the
typee who works well in Teams so you go in Rambo Style and shoot everything that
moves, whatever the case this section is for all, these Tactics will mostly help
with Deathmatch rules.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Before you read below here is a description of terms used:
Tactic Name - Name of Tactic
Rules - Rules this Applies To (eg. Deathmatch, Capture, Sneaking, etc.)
Class - Class of Character Used in the Tactic
Skills - Skills you Need/May Want to Have to Help with the Tactic
Description - What the Tactic is
Advantages - Advantages to the Tactic
Disadvantages - Disavantages to the Tactic
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Tactic: Retreat (Rolling)
Rules: All
Class: All
Skills: Runner, Narc
Description: This Tactic will be one of the most used Retreating techniques in
this version the aim is to avoid fire while getting away from an
Enemy, use this when you are Ambushed, Under Fire (Works great with
avoiding Sniper Headshots), or when you need to Reload. The Aim is
to Keep Rolling either in the direction of Cover, or Over a Ledge
(be Carful of high falls though) into another area.
Advantages: When you Roll you will have a higher chance to Dodge bullets, Very
Good way to get out of Sniper's Line of Sight.
Disadvantages: While Rolling you can't do anything but Roll, you will be
Vulnerable to Attacks, Landing animation can be slow.
Tactic: Retreat (Grenade Drop)
Rules: All
Class: All
Skills: Quarterback, Runner, Narc
Description: This is a Retreat Tactic which you will need to be carful When and
Where you use it, mostly due to the Volitile Nature of Grenades.
This Tactic is usually used in Ambush and Outnumbered/Outgunned
Situations. When under fire and you have found your way out of the
Enemies line of Fire drop a grenade either in the path of your
Opponent (with Stun Grenades in thier line of Sight), in this way
you can retreat further, or if you are fast enough you can shoot
your Opponent as he is disadvantaged.
Frag Grenades will blow the opponent of his Feet or Kill them.
WP Grenades can set the ground alight halting an Opponents advance
it also acts like a Frag Grenade which also sets Enemies Alight.
Stun Grenades will leave the Opponent Blind and/or Deaf.
Smoke Grenades offer the Most Benefeit, they block sight allowing
you to run away, also they can cause Opponents to Cough if they are
Unlucky (Consider it a Weak Stun).
Advantages: Makes an Opponent more likly to stop following you when you retreat,
Some Grenades can Kill or Create Situations where you can turn the
Battle to your Favour.
Disadvantages: Main problem is Grenades are Touchy, they don't always go where
you want and they don't discren friend from foe and can easily
Effect you, Grenades take time to prepare, throw and then explode
allowing the enemy a chance to shoot you.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Team-Based [1002]
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Again as the name implies this is Tactics you can use when in a Team, this can
men anything from a 2-Man Team to a the Full 6-Man Squad, Keep in mind though
that if you ar
e in a Team that you will have to be carful of Friendly Fire, SOP
Lock-Out can really screw you around if you do get SOP Locked try to get out of
the way before you are shot.
IMPORTANT: When in a Team try to keep in mind that if you are unable to
communicate without stopping play, that you may need to either get a
Microphone or if you can use Preset Messages and Sign Language (when
you are Crouched and hit Salute (Triangle) your Character will point
foward which you can adapt as Move Forward), also when you are in SOP
with a Teammate remember that when you raise your gun your line of
sight appears, try to cross there sight without mimicking it (don't
stand directly behind a Teamamte and face there Direction) instead
try to face to the sides or corners where they can't see, in this way
you can become a lot less prone to being Ambushed from the side, or
flanked.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Before you read below here is a description of terms used:
Tactic Name - Name of Tactic
Rules - Rules this Applies To (eg. Deathmatch, Capture, Sneaking, etc.)
No. of Teammates - Number of Teammates you Need for Tactic
Self Class - Class of Your Own Character Used in the Tactic
Team Class(es) - Class(es) your Teammate(s) Used in the Tactic
Self Skills - Skills you Need/May Want to Have to Help with the Tactic
Description - What the Tactic is
Advantages - Advantages to the Tactic
Disadvantages - Disavantages to the Tactic
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Tactic Name - Corner Check
Rules - Any
No. of Teammates - 2+ (preferably 3+)
Self Class - Any
Team Class(es) - Any
Self Skills - Surveyor, Runner, Monomania, Sixth Sense, Narc
Description - This Tactic is a Must for all Teams, it will require using SOP,
Once in SOP stay with your team and use LoS (Line of Sight, Raise
your gun in SOP and LoS will appear so your teammates no where
you are aiming), now when you approach a corner do one of two
things, if you are behind then let he leading person look around
the corner while you watch ahead of them, if you are in fron then
you will check around the corner, try not ot be directly behind,
preferably put your back to the wall so you are not in the middle
of the person behind's LoS, asfor the person behind you should be
the opposite side (where the corner intersects), this will
minimise Friendly Fire and give you best LoS in most situations.
(if there is a Third he should be looking Behind so they can cover
the Flank, this can be tricky but Practice makes perfect)
Advantages - When using this technique it minimises the chance of being shot
from the side, and with a third person protects against Flanking
enemies.
Disadvantages- With everyone close you suffer from two problems, Friendly Fire
incidents and with everyone together if you all get killed then
the other team can get multiple kills (look out for Grenades).
