~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~-

Welcome to the first FAQ I have ever created.
I've wanted to create a FAQ for gamefaqs for some time,
and now I finally have (or rather, I've started one).
The purpose of this FAQ is to detail each of the dungeons
in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness. This
FAQ is not meant to be a walkthrough. There are other FAQs
for that. This FAQ contains several bits of data for each
dungeon, such as the pokemon and items found in the dungeon.
I collected data from playing Darkness and other sources
and organized the data into this FAQ. Therefore, this FAQ
only concerns Explorers of Darkness, although some of the
information in this FAQ may be the same for Explorers of Time.

        ##II. Format for Dungeon Information
~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~-

NUMBER##. NAME OF DUNGEON
Requirements
# of floors within the dungeon
Special conditions of the dungeon and other unique information

-----Terrain-----
Contained under this heading is Floor size, special tiles in
the dungeon such as water, weather, and other information. I also
mention if there are kecleon markets, monster houses, or buried
items in this dungeon.

-----Pokemon-----
This heading contains information on the enemy pokemon found
in the dungeon, such as Name, Type, Level, Hp, Exp(hit by move), Floors
found on, and the base chance of recruiting them. The level listed is
the lowest level the pokemon is found on. Pokemon levels tend to
increase by 1 as you go deeper into a dungeon, such as on Floors 6 and
10. In dungeons where I could not recruit the pokemon, I may not have
gotten their hp. Each Pokemon Type is abreviated as follows:

Normal->NRM  Steel->STL  Fire->FIR  Bug->BUG  Electric->ELC
Poison->PSN  Grass->GRS  Dark->DRK  Ice->ICE  Fighting->FTG
Flying->FLY  Ghost->GHO  Rock->RCK            Psychic-->PSY
Dragon->DRG  Water->WTR
Ground->GRD

-----Traps-------
Under this heading, you will find a list of all traps found in the
dungeon. Wonder Tiles are included.

-----Items-------
This section contains specific information on the items found within
the dungeon. This includes an organized list of every item found, a
rough estimate of the rarity for each item and item group, rarity of
Coins found in the dungeon, an estimate of the average amount of money
gained per Coins, and an estimate of the average amount of items found
per trip, assuming you get every item.
I gathered this information from 10 trips through the dungeon, although
sometimes more or less trips depending on how many different items I
find. It is possible I missed some items, especially items found in
kecleon markets and monster houses. Regardless, I estimated each
item group's rarity based on the percentages I got for each item group.
In relation to the total, each item group is rated as follows:

Items: Always = 100%
        Extremely Common = 40% +
        Very Common = 30% +
        Common            = 20% +
        Uncommon          = 10% +
        Rare              = 5%  +
        Very Rare = 1% +
        Extremely Rare = 0% +
Kecleon = Only found in kecleon markets
Monster = Only found in monster houses
Buried = Only found in dungeon walls

Any percentages between 50% and 100% will be Extremely Common, but that
higher percentage will be included with the rarity (rounded down to the
nearest 10%).

So, if for example, after 10 trips I found 500 items in a dungeon, and 50
of them were Food Items, I would record them as being Uncommon in this
dungeon. If however, I had found only 49 Food Items, I would classify them
as Rare.

I also put a rarity next to each item within eacb item category, which is
is based off the total amount of items found within that category. Here's
an example:

Berries(9%)=Rare (9% of Total items found)
 Oran(77.78%)=Extremely Common
 Pecha(16.67%)=Uncommon
 Cheri(5.56%)=Rare

------Notes------
Just additional things I want to mention.

Notes:
+In these dungeons, wild enemies have no IQ skills.
+Enemies cannot use or throw items they are holding.
+Enemies within the same dungeon are usually around the same level.
+While going through these dungeons, enemies increase in level by 1 on
 Floors 6, 10, 15, 20, etc.

+Few of these dungeons have traps. Traps don't show up much in dungeons
 with traps in them.

~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~-

Notes:
+In these dungeons, wild enemies have IQ skills now, like Bodyguard and
Brick Tough. They appear to have an IQ of about 3.5 stars in most of
these dungeons. After being recruited, their IQ is reset to .5 stars.
+Enemies can now use or throw items they are holding, such as Reviver
 Seeds and Doom Seeds.
+Enemies vary largely in level now. There will be weak low-level enemies
mixed in with strong high-level enemies.
+While going through these dungeons, enemies increase in level on
various floors. Here is a list of the floors and how many levels the
pokemon have gained by these floors. (Special Thanks to kirby5790)

01F~05F = +0 Levels
06F~09F = +1 Levels
10F~14F = +2 Levels
15F~19F = +3 Levels
20F~24F = +4 Levels
25F~29F = +5 Levels
30F~39F = +6 Levels
40F~46F = +7 Levels
47F~49F = +8 Levels

+Traps will show up much more often and with quite a bit more variety.

+Quite a few new items can be found in these dungeons.
+Items picked up in these dungeons may be sticky.
+All these dungeons have buried items within walls. These items can be
retrieved by Palkia(Absolute Mover), Rock Smashing, or using a One-Room
Orb. Some of these buried items are within walls lining hallways, so
if you are sprinting through a hallway and suddenly stop for no apparent
reason, there is a buried item near you.
+Some of these dungeons have Treasure Chambers on specific floors, which
each require a key to open.

------Notes------
Prepare to starve. This place is devoid of food. Unless you stumble upon
a monster house full of gummies, your belly will descend fast, especially
while traversing the bigger floors found nearer to the end of this dungeon.
Even if you bring your own food items, the fairly frequent grimy traps will
turn those to junk. Hold onto the Oran berries you find here, as you may
need them to keep yourself from fainting while your belly is empty.

Aside from the hunger problems, this dungeon has a fair selection of TMs and
Seeds. You'll find many Orbs here, but not much variety.

------Notes------
Aegis Cave is not a fun place. Each defeated Unown has an estimated 37%
chance to drop a special stone resembling that Unown, such as A-Stone or
F-Stone. To complete the Ice, Rock, and Steel sections of Aegis Cave,
you must have in your inventory the Unown Stones that spell out your
section name at the giant stone found at the end of each section. For
example, you need at least 1 I-Stone, 1 C-Stone, and 1 E-Stone to complete
Ice Aegis Cave. The stones are used up after entering the next section,
so you'll spend time collecting those stones again if you ever come back
to Aegis Cave.
To save time, you may want to bring 1 or more high level Illuminators who
can endure hits from Unown, so that more Unown will spawn and getting the
stones won't take as long. Transfer Orbs may help too.
You'll find Berries all over the place. You may stumble upon a few Reviver
Seeds as well, so keep an eye out for them. If you look hard enough, you can
also find Keys in this dungeon. Sure beats paying 9000 for each of them!

        ----------------------------------------------------------------
        | A. Want to help me complete this section? |
        ----------------------------------------------------------------
I am currently working on finishing the Post-ending dungeons. However,
I expect these dungeons to take significantly more time to finish.
Post-ending dungeons generally have more traps, more floors, and much more
pokemon roaming around. I will also have to start looking for buried items
and key rooms, since those appear in these dungeons. The Zero Isles
especially will be quite an endeavor to complete. However, there is a way
for me to finish these dungeons quicker, and you can help! Here's how:

Simply traverse any post-ending dungeon of your choice, document every item
you find in the dungeon, and email the data. As long as you're playing
Explorers of Darkness, I can use your data to determine the rarity of the
items in the dungeon. If you contribute, I will give you credit in this FAQ.
Here's a step-by-step process of how to help:

1. Acquire an X-ray Specs. Here is a wondermail code for them:
                             @TMN PWQX #R1N Y3PQ SQMY &P#9

2. Enter a Post-ending dungeon and give your leader the X-ray specs.

3. Collect every item on every floor of the dungeon. Record what you get
and how many of each you get. Be sure to record items gained from
monster houses and kecleon markets separately. Buried items and key
rooms are optional. If you find deluxe boxes at the end of a dungeon,
record their contents separately as well.

4. Complete the dungeon. Repeat steps 2-4 for the same dungeon, if desired.
Organize your data and email it to me (See Contact Information). Include
a name for me to credit in my FAQ.

Here is an example:

-----
Marine Resort

[Buried]

[Warp Zone]

I will also accept data gained from Rescues in non-dual dungeons, provided
the person(s) being rescued are on the HIGHEST dungeon floor of that dungeon
(excluding treasure floors and pits), and items gained from the Flag Monster
House are documented in the Monster House category. Also mention the name of
the person(s) being rescued.
Here is another example:

Every dungeon trip you make will be one less trip for me. The more help I
receive, the sooner I can finish this FAQ for your benefit.

        ##VI. Questions and Answers
~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~- ~-

Q: Will you be making a Dungeon Guide for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers
   of Time?
A: I don't have Explorers of Time, so likely No.

Q: Will you be making a Dungeon Guide for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers
of Sky, when it comes out?
A: I intend to buy that game, so yes I'll get working on a dungeon guide for
it when I buy the game.

Q: I found an item in that wasn't on your item list for that
   dungeon! What should I do?
A: Contact me and let me know, and I'll add it to the list. Just make sure
you are indeed playing Explorers of Darkness, and not Time.

Q: How come you did not include the hp of pokemon in some dungeons?
A: I find out the hp of pokemon by recruiting them. If I cannot recruit
the pokemon in a dungeon, then I don't include hp. Beach Cave is the
exception to this, since I just used a wondermail generator to
get myself client-recruit missions to get myself those low level pokemon.

Q: Hold on! If you can't recruit those pokemon, how have you been figuring
out what level those pokemon are on?
A: I have been able to determine their levels by the use of a wonderful item
called a Doom Seed. Thanks to Doom Seeds, which have been extremely
useful in making this FAQ, I can get the level of any pokemon found in an
   unrecruitable dungeon.

Q: What is the best dungeon to train at before the game's ending?
A: Early on, train on the 4th and 5th floors of training mazes in Marowak's
Dojo. Once you have completed Amp Plains and chapter 10, just train in
any story dungeon that comes afterward.

Q: I need a lot of exp and fast! Any advice?
A: If you are still in the pre-ending, see the previous question. However,
If you are in the post-ending, there is a very easy method to gain tons of
exp. Remember those Rollcall Orbs that have been collecting dust in your
storage? Imagine if you could turn every one of those Rollcall Orbs into
a monster house full of exp! How, you ask? Just follow these 10 easy steps!
   1. Make at least 1 pokemon of your team a pokemon with the Illuminate
      ability (Staryu, Chinchou, Volbeat, etc.).
   2. Make sure 1 of your pokemon has a room range damaging move, such as
Discharge, Silver Wind, etc. Link it with another move.
   3. Add 1 or more rollcall orbs to your inventory.
   4. Enter any post-ending dungeon, excluding the zero isles.
   5. Find a low level enemy and lead it to a fairly big room on the floor.
   6. Disable all of your Illuminator's moves, and position him near the low
      level enemy.
   7. Allow the enemy to continue attacking your Illuminator until it stops
      blinking.
   8. Then position yourself near the low level enemy and throw a Rollcall Orb
      at that enemy.
   9. The enemy will then proceed to use that Rollcall Orb to warp every other
enemy on the floor into the same room as your group.
10.Wipe the room clean using your room-range move. Enjoy the experience!

If you brought more than 1 Rollcall Orb, feel free to repeat steps 5-10 as
   often as you wish.

Q: When is the next update coming?
A: Depends. Most Post-ending dungeons are longer than pre-ending dungeons.
The Final Maze, 7 Wonder Dungeons, and Zero Isles will definitely take

1. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time/Darkness Strategy Guide.
It supplied me with a list of pokemon found in each dungeon, as well as
the floors each pokemon is found on. It also supplied me with other
   misc. information.
2. UPokeCenter.com. I used this website to find out the recruitment rate
for every pokemon in the dungeons.
3. Michael Atiles. I used his Wonder Mail FAQ to find out the passwords
for the extra non-story dungeons and x-ray specs.
4. Lee Eric Kirwin. He offered a lot of advice for improving my FAQ. He also
contributed item data gained from 1 trip through Sky Stairway.
5. majesticmystic. He contributed the following item data:
   +3 Trips (Spacial Rift)
   +2 Trips (Concealed Ruins)
   +2 Trips (Mt. Mistral)
   +1 Trips (Lost Wilderness)
6. kirby5790, who contributed information on enemy level growth.

Feel free to let me know of any corrections or additions I should make to
my FAQ. I am currently working on getting the exact percentages for the
rarity of items.

I also post as OgreGunner on the Explorers of Time/Darkness message boards
on gamefaqs. I have a topic for this FAQ on the Darkness Board, so I can be
contacted there as well. You can also view my progress on getting exact item
rarity percentages there.
