    **NOTICE: This guide may only be distributed and/or posted in its
              original format (and, most importantly, UNALTERED in any way).

    If you wish to post or use excerpts from this guide then please ask for
    my permission first before doing so (especially if you work for a

    thing together and that should be taken into consideration.

    And remember.....

       "Respect is everything."

I truly want to thank those who have written to me about this guide even if
you haven't received a response. I tend to read my e-mail late at night and
sometimes I'm too tired to respond right away.

This is mainly because I'm either a) updating my other guides and FAQs, b)
hacking up a console or doing more RGB experiments or, c) playing new games.

This guide uses a Quick Search Feature which takes advantage of the Find
feature used by many web browsers. This feature will allow you to go to any
chapter or section in this guide quickly.

On the left side of some of the chapters, as well as the right side of each
of the major section headers, in the Table of Contents is a four character
code. To access any of those chapters or sections do CTRL-F (PC) or Clover-F
(Mac) to activate the Find feature in the web browser. Then enter the code in
BRACKETS (or at least the left bracket) like this:

[xxxx] or [xxxx

You will notice that most chapters do not have a four character code. They
are accessed a little differently. To access any of these chapters you
activate the Find feature and enter the > character followed by the chapter
number like this:

>KR6 or >ZD12

This feature also works backwards. You will notice that the Table of Contents
has its own four character code. Should you want to quickly go back to the
top of this document input the four letter code for the Table and you will
instantly be back at the top of the guide.

My name is Robert Allen Rusk and I am a hardcore gamer with about 30+ years
of gaming experience. I am an ex-gametester (Broderbund Software, LucasArts
Games, Point Of View Computing) and an ex-arcade attendant (Namco
Cyberstation - Pier 39, San Francisco, CA).

I also own multiple systems such as the Sega Dreamcast, Super Nintendo,
Nintendo 64, Atari Jaguar, PlayStation 1 and 2, Xbox, and Xbox 360.

I currently work at JCPenneys at one of the malls here in San Antonio, TX.
Retail isn't the best job in the world but JCPenneys has given me the job
stability I did not have much of prior to employment there. This also led to
personal stability that allows me to write and maintain the guides I have
built.

I started writing guides in 2003 because I felt it was something I could do
utilizing my writing skills gained in college and gametesting along with my
passion for vidgames.

Over time I have honed my overall writing and organization skills plus my
creative thinking skills. Additionally, I have extended the play value of the
games I have written guides and FAQs for many times over plus I have received
many letters from all over the world.

I am also what one may call an RGB Analog Video enthusiast. I hack most of my
game consoles to try to get the best possible video from them and that
usually involves tapping into the RGB Analog video signals and using them on
the right monitors to achieve my desires.

To this end I became a member of the GamesX.com mod forum and I post on their
"RGB + Video Discussions" forum area from time to time.

In addition, I am a member of the X-Otic Computer Systems of San Antonio
(www.xcssa.org), a group who specializes in Linux, Mac, and other systems. We
are also a group of hackers and electronics enthusiasts.

I am also a regular forum poster at GameFAQs, an occasional poster at
AtariAge, Digital Press, GTA Forums, and Video Game Saga. I am also a member
of The MoFaT (a members only message board set up by "Grand Theft Auto: Vice
City" players who met on the Vice City message boards at GameFAQs).

Outside of gaming, my interests include "Godzilla" (I have been a G-Fan since
the age of ten) and "Red Dwarf" (I own all eight series plus the "Back to
Earth" mini-series on DVD). I am also a long time soundtrack collector with
many titles in my possession.

As far as favorite sports teams go, my teams are the San Antonio Spurs (NBA)
[the local team], the Denver Broncos (NFL) [although I live in Texas, I am
originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado] and the Air Force Falcons (NCAA
Football).

This guide was constructed using TextWrangler on a 1.5Ghz Single Core Intel
Mac Mini. I view my work in Safari to help in seeing how it would look on the
web and correct format errors.

I also play "The Darkness" on a Viewsonic A70 RGB monitor using the Xbox 360
VGA cable. When I do my writing and guide revisions I run my Mac (on a Dell
monitor) alongside the Xbox 360 (on my Viewsonic A70 monitor). This way I can
simultaneously play and make changes to the guide at the same time.

The sound is hooked up to an old stereo box I got from Radio Shack when I
acquired my first Amiga 500 in 1990 and it has served me well considering its
age.

I have completed the "The Darkness" multiple times to get information for
this guide.

Welcome to my guide for the Starbreeze Studios game "The Darkness"! In this
guide you will find a lot of useful information in a highly organized format
that you can use to get the most out of the game. Quotes taken from readers'
e-mail are presented "as is" and may include spelling and grammatical errors.

When I first started doing guides and FAQs, I did not know how well it would
go over and how many people would respond. I wasn't exactly swamped with
e-mail but I do get letters from time to time.

Sometimes people would ask for advice and others would say how cool the guide
is. All it takes is for one person to say how good and useful your guide is
to make it all worthwhile.

I want to thank GameFAQs for creating a place where such documents can be
hosted for the benefit of all gamers. I also want to thank IGN.com,
NeoSeeker.com, TheVGNation.com, GameHelper.com, and many other sites for
their generosity in hosting this guide along with my other work on their
sites.

Finally, I want to thank everybody who has taken the time to download and
read this guide (as well as my other documents).

With that said, let's get down to business shall we?.....

The main emphasis of this guide is to provide a straightforward way to
complete the game as well as acquire all of the unlockable bonuses. This
means activating all of the Side-Quests available within the game and
collecting all of the Collectables.

Although this guide is meant for the Xbox 360 version of the game this can
also be used for the PS3 version even though there are no Trophies to go
after (therefore PS3 owners can safely ignore all of the Achievement
information).

Although the game has three difficulty settings, this guide was written based
on the *EASY* setting. This is so I can focus on obtaining all of the
Collectables, doing all of the Side-Quests, and getting most of the single
player Achievements (Xbox 360).

Two of the Achievements are tied to game difficulty so by doing all of the
collecting and obtaining most of the Achievements on the Easy difficulty
setting then you can focus on straight gameplay on them.

During the construction of this guide I used the following user created FAQs
for additional reference:

  >>"The Darkness Collectables and Sidequests Guide" - by John McKenna.
    *******************************************************************
      I used this FAQ to help me find Collectables that I hadn't found on my
      own. I have also tried to come up with better descriptions on where to
      find and obtain certain Collectables within this guide.

  >>"The Darkness In-Depth Achievements Guide" - by Scott Grohs.
    ************************************************************
      I used this FAQ to help me attain certain Achievements. I have also
      tried to come up with better ways and places to do some of the
      Achievements for this guide.

"The Darkness" is based on an obscure comic book published by Top Cow
Productions. An odd choice for a licensed based vidgame.

But the fact that it was being developed by Starbreeze Studios, the same
studio that did the amazing "The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher
Bay", made this project one to watch.

I eventually received this game as a Xmas present in 2007. I throughly
enjoyed this game, enough to make a guide for it which is what you are now
reading. Just like TCOR:EFBB it has wonderful graphics, very good story
telling and cutscenes (this also includes the scenes that play as the game
loads a new area - a nice touch), and very good music.

But, just like TCOR:EFBB, it is also a little short and easy (even at the
Hard difficulty). In addition, this game was heavily criticized for its
lackluster Multiplayer. Even with these weaknesses "The Darkness" is still a
worthy title to add to one's Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 game collection.

There is also one other thing I should note, and this is mainly for the Xbox
360 version (although I don't know if this happens on the PS3 version also).

As I just stated, the music and sound effects are top notch. However, the
sound *QUALITY* is atrocious.

It sounds like the music and speech was put onto a old cassette tape and run
about 100 times until it became worn. Does anybody know if this is a sound
encoding problem during development or something with the console's operating
system?

I would like to know for future revisions.

Although the manual covers the setup pretty good, I felt that I should

0======0
| Hands \
0=====================================>

  This is not a weapon but it shows that you are disarmed.

0========0
| Pistols \
0=====================================>

  Most of your enemies will drop this dual-wielded weapon (12-round clip)
  when killed. This is mainly used for close combat situations and shooting
  out lights.

  When using the Zoom then the Pistol can be pretty accurate at medium range
  distances. When reloading, you don't reload the Pistol but swap to another
  one you have in your inventory.

0=================0
| Sub-Machine Guns \
0=====================================>

  These dual-wielded weapons are pretty nice in a tight situation. But you
  won't find as many of these as you would the Pistols so save them when the
  going gets tough. In addition, even though they are rapid fire (30-round
  clips), these weapons are not very accurate so it is best to use them in
  close combat.

0===============0
| Combat Shotgun \
0=====================================>

  This is also known as a SPAS Shotgun (often used in the Grand Theft Auto
  games). This pretty powerful weapon (12 round clip) is only good at close
  range and can only fire one shot at a time. This weapon is mainly used by
  the Police.

0===============0
| Tactical Rifle \
0=====================================>

  This is also known as an M-16. This is a nice rapid fire weapon with a
  25-round clip. This is also accurate from long distance when using the
  Zoom. This weapon is mainly used by the SWAT Police.

0================0
| Automatic Rifle \
0=====================================>

  This is also known as an AK-47. Unlike the Tactical Rifle this weapon
  (20-round clip) has a slower rate of fire and is not as accurate from long
  distance when using the Zoom.

0=============0
| Riot Shotgun \
0=====================================>

  If you like Shotguns then you are going to love this bad boy. This weapon
  kind of looks like a Grenade Launcher but this is much better, especially
  in a crowded room.

  Imagine a cross between a machine gun and a Shotgun. This puppy can rapid
  fire shotgun shells from a 64-round barrel (when Fire Right is held down).

  Nice, huh? Too bad this weapon gets overshadowed by the Darkness Guns but
  this is still a nice toy to play with even with the short range. This
  weapon is mainly used by the SWAT Police.

You can use the above Weapons and The Darkness in combination.

When entering a Subway then you will automatically disarm. You cannot use
Weapons when in the Subway system.

In addition, when Disarmed, you can bring out a Weapon by either using Fire
Left or Fire Right. It should be noted that the Weapon you bring out by doing
this will be the Weapon you had last before Disarming.

For example, if the last Weapon you had in your hand before Disarming was the
Tactical Rifle then when you do Fire Right (or Left) you will bring out the
Tactical Rifle. This can be useful when walking into a hostile situation by
allowing you to do a surprise attack.

 \=========================================================================/
           \XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX/

The Darkness is a parasitic creature, "old as time", that is passed down from
generation to generation within a given family line and makes itself known to
the host, which is a first born male, on the host's 21st birthday. And it
cannot allow the host to die until it is the appropriate time.

It is a very powerful being and gives you all kinds of incredible powers. But
it is also a dark and malevolent beast who has consumed many a soul during
its lifetime.

Now to explain its capabilities.....

           /XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX\
 /=========================================================================\
| >GEN13. The Darkness Powers                                               |
 \=========================================================================/
           \XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX/

The Darkness is best used when there is no light. So you need to knock out
all nearby light sources when you decide to use your Darkness Powers.

The Darkness is manifested by pressing Manifest The Darkness. When you do
this, two Demon Heads will appear on both sides of the screen. If your
Darkness Energy is low then the Demon Heads will suck up the darkness to
replenish itself (it looks like they are sucking up a dark mist).

You will see glowing dots on the Demon Heads and they indicate your current
Darkness Energy level. When they are all alight and bright then your Darkness
Energy is full. These lights will also indicate what Darkness power you are
using.

If you walk into a bright area when The Darkness is manifested then you will
hear a sizzling sound. At this point your Darkness Energy will drain. When it
is completely drained then The Darkness will automatically de-manifest and
you cannot use it again until you go back into a dark area.

When you use a Darkness Power then you will use your Darkness Energy. If you
use up all of your Darkness Energy then you cannot use that Darkness Power
again until you replenish your Darkness Energy.

As stated in the Controls chapter, you can Activate Darkness Power without
manifesting The Darkness first. When pressed, you will manifest The Darkness
and use the selected power simultaneously. This action is quite useful when
planning attacks.

When entering the Subway, you will automatically de-manifest The Darkness.
You cannot use The Darkness within the Subway system.

Now to go over your Darkness Powers:

0==============0
| Darkness Mode \
0=====================================>

  When you manifest The Darkness then you automatically enter Darkness Mode.
  It will provide you with the following powers:

    >>Darkness Vision
      ***************
        This allows you to see the Darkling Portals that only appear when The
        Darkness is manifested. This also gives the objects you see in a
        golden glow so you can see in the dark.

    >>Darkness Shield
      ***************
        This provides a shield to protect you from harm. However, it doesn't
        make you invincible so you still need to take cover when in a combat
        situation.

        But it will make you harder to kill. This drains Darkness Energy when
        you take damage.

0==============0
| Devour Hearts \
0=====================================>

  This is one of the most important things you can do. When you kill an enemy
  then you can then Devour the enemy's Heart. This automatically maximizes
  your Darkness Energy.

  Certain enemies will emit black smoke from their mouths when dead.
  Devouring these Hearts will give you new powers and Darklings.

  In addition, you cannot devour Hearts of dead civilians. Only those of
  people that attack you. But, most importantly, Devouring Hearts will
  increase your.....

0===============0
| Darkness Level \
0=====================================>

  When The Darkness first makes itself known, it isn't very powerful at
  first. But with each Heart you devour then you gradually increase your
  Darkness Level.

  There are five levels and you start at Level One. When you gain a Darkness
  Level then you will become more powerful. You will achieve Level Five,
  maximum Darkness Level, at 180 Hearts.

  You must make it a habit to Devour Hearts whenever you can to maximize
  your Darkness Level as quickly as possible. This guide will show you places
  where you can get extra Hearts to speed up the process.

  These Hearts are also *NON-CUMULATIVE*. What this means is that if you
  start an area with 10 devoured Hearts then devour 10 more to make it twenty
  and then die and restart the area, the Hearts devoured will be reset to 10.

  This keeps you from re-doing an area over and over again to maximize your
  Darkness Level early.

  Since I will be attacking and devouring Hearts a lot in this guide I will
  use the shorthand "Devour". This means "Attack the enemy then Devour his
  Heart". There are also a couple of Achievements based on Devouring Hearts.

0==============0
| Creeping Dark \
0=====================================>

  This is the first major power you gain in Chapter One. You will be using
  this power a lot. The lights on the Demon Heads will glow orange when this
  power is selected.

  Creeping Dark is used to scout out areas, stealth kill enemies, and obtain
  hard to reach objects. You use Darkness Energy when you use this power.
  When you run out of Darkness Energy then Creeping Dark will automatically
  retract. It will auto retract if an enemy manages to get a good shot on the
  Demon Head.

  When stealth killing an enemy, just get close to him and press Fire Right
  to rip out his throat. You can also Devour Hearts with Creeping Dark.

  When you Devour Hearts with Creeping Dark then your Darkness Energy will be
  maximized and you can continue using it. You can make Creeping Dark last a
  long time in an area full of enemies if you Attack them then Devour Hearts.

  You can also grab objects, like Collectables, with Creeping Dark. Just go
  to an object and press Use when close enough and prompted.

  In addition, you can do other interactions, like smashing panels and
  unlocking doors, with Creeping Dark. Creeping Dark will automatically pick
  up weapons on its own when close enough to one.

0==========0
| Demon Arm \
0=====================================>

  You gain this power in Chapter Two. With Demon Arm you can move and throw
  large objects, silently destroy light sources, and kill your enemies by
  impaling them. It should be noted that certain enemies cannot be killed
  with this power.

  In addition, the Demon Heads will glow red when this Darkness power is
  selected.

0==============0
| Darkness Guns \
0=====================================>

  You gain this power in Chapter Two. These are very special weapons that
  use Darkness Energy. The Demon Heads will glow green when this power is
  selected.

  The right gun is essentially a handgun and behaves as such. The left gun
  emits a powerful shockwave that can kill at close range. When this power is
  activated then Activate Darkness Power to switch from your standard weapons
  to the Darkness Guns.

  If you are sitting in a dark area then you have near infinite ammo and you
  don't have to reload. This weapon can kill those that cannot be killed by
  normal means.

0===========0
| Black Hole \
0=====================================>

  You gain this power in Chapter Three. With this you can create a powerful
  Black Hole that sucks in nearby enemies and kill them. The Demon Heads will
  glow blue when this power is selected.

  It can also destroy wooden objects. You can detonate it, and create more
  damage, by pressing Activate Darkness Power before it evaporates.

  This will use up all of your Darkness Energy regardless so it is best to
  use this while in a dark area so you can quickly replenish your Darkness
  Energy.

0==========0
| Darklings \
0=====================================>

  Darklings are impish little creatures born from The Darkness. They can
  only be called up from a Darkling Portal.

  These portals are holes of light on the ground with tentacles. You need to
  keep the Darklings out of the light or they will die. You can direct them
  by aiming the Aiming Reticle in the direction you want it to go and press
  Redirect Darkling.

  Listed below are the four Darkling types found in the game:

    >>Berzerker
      *********
        This Darkling is acquired in in Chapter One. The Berzerker will
        attack nearby enemies until killed. This particular Darkling can be
        randomly outfitted with various clothing that you find within the
        game.

        There are a total of eight outfits (six within the game story plus
        two through phone calls). This guide will show you where to find them
        all. There is an Achievement tied to finding the Darkling Outfits.

    >>Gunner
      ******
        This Darkling is acquired in in Chapter One. The Gunner has a
        Mini-Gun which she uses to mow down her enemies. Even if she doesn't
        manage to kill enemies this Darkling makes for a good diversion so
        you can do other things.

    >>Kamikaze
      ********
        This Darkling is acquired in in Chapter Two. The Kamikaze goes up to
        enemies and blows himself up taking them with him.

    >>Lightkiller
      ***********
        This Darkling is acquired in in Chapter Two. The Lightkiller has a
        device that will destroy nearby lights. This device can also be used
        as a weapon against nearby enemies.

Throughout the game you will find flashing pieces of paper and envelopes.
These are the Collectables. They help to open up Extra Content that can be
viewed in the Extra Content option in the Main Menu.

However, picking up Collectables doesn't automatically unlock the content.
You either have to find a Phone and call the Collectable numbers or post the
Collectable letters in a mailbox. In addition, certain Collectables can only
be obtained by doing Side-Quests which are explained later.

There are a total of 100 Collectables that unlock a total of 116 pieces of
Extra Content. This guide will show you where to find them and the best way
to obtain them.

Within the game you will encounter many people. Most of them don't want
anything to do with you. But others want your help with certain activities.

By helping people out then you are activating Side-Quests. Most Side-Quests
are easy and won't take long to complete. You are usually rewarded by with
Collectables. There is also an Achievement tied to doing Side-Quests.

 \=========================================================================/
           \XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX/

Listed in this chapter are all of the Achievements for the Xbox 360 version
of "The Darkness". Even though the PS3 now has Trophies, something that
wasn't around when the game was released, Starbreeze Studios didn't add
Trophies to this game after the fact.

To those who do not own an Xbox 360, Achievements can be considered a
different kind of scoring system. Each Xbox 360 game has 1000 Achievement
Points that can be obtained.

Some can be acquired by simply playing through the game. Others can be
obtained by doing certain objectives outside of normal gameplay. To many
gamers this adds to the replay value of each Xbox 360 game and gives them
bragging rights on Xbox Live where these scores are posted.

One annoyance to Achievements is that, depending on the game, the 1000
Achievement points are split between Single Player and Multiplayer modes. So,
if you do not have the necessary connections to get on-line, then you most
likely cannot get into multiplayer matches to obtain the Multiplayer
Achievements.

Sadly, "The Darkness" is one of these split Achievement games.

Many of the Achievements within "The Darkness" are easy to get. Some require
more work. They are broken down into Single Player and Multiplayer sections:

         there.

  Description: Only for those who are completely in tune with the Darkness.
  Achievement Points: 100 G.
  Notes: You must acquire all five Achievements related to your Darkness
         powers:

           >>Rogue Killer
             ************
               Kill 15 enemies using Creeping Dark.

           >>Ripper
             ******
               Kill 30 enemies using Demon Arm.

           >>Gunner
             ******
               Kill 30 enemies using the Darkness Guns.

           >>Void Bringer
             ************
               Kill 20 enemies using Black Hole.

           >>Legendary Summoner
             ******************
               Summon 50 Darklings.

         When you get all five of these Achievements then you will get this
         one.

         It should be noted that these stats are *CUMULATIVE*. This means
         that if you start an area having Creeping Dark at 10% and you kill a
         number of enemies with it to increase it to 20% and then you die and
         have to restart the area over then you will still have the 20%.

         This means that you can go through the same area several times,
         using Checkpoint Restart, and still increase these stats.

         In addition, you can also keep your stats if you restart Chapters,
         even Chapter One. Also, you can increase these stats by killing
         civilians.

Before I go on let's go over the cast of characters:

0================0
| Jackie Estacado \
0=====================================>

  When Jackie was a young boy he lost his parents and was consigned to St.
  Mary's Orphanage in Manhattan. At the age of 12 he was finally adopted by
  the Franchetti family.

  However, the Franchetti's are also a Mob family and Jackie grew up to
  become a part of it eventually becoming a hitman and enforcer for them. He
  also grew up understanding and respecting the old ways of the Mob, much to
  the dismay of his Uncle Paulie who runs the Franchetti crime family.

0=============0
| Jenny Romano \
0=====================================>

  Jenny was also an orphan growing up at St. Mary's Orphanage. She became
  friends with Jackie during the time they spent together at the Orphanage.
  Jenny is the person Jackie loves. But Jackie has never told her the truth
  about what he does for a living. Sooner or later he will have to tell her.

0==================0
| Paulie Franchetti \
0=====================================>

  Paulie Franchetti is the current Don of the Franchetti crime family. He
  took over when Jimmy Franchetti died thirty years ago.

  Paulie is also a psychopath and parasite. In addition, he has forsaken the
  old Mob ways and made up his own rules much to the anger of the older
  members. Paulie is also Jackie's "father" and the two are always at odds
  over how things should be.

0===========0
| Aunt Sarah \
0=====================================>

  Aunt Sarah is the widow of Jimmy Franchetti. Although she doesn't do much
  within the crime family she is the symbolic figurehead of the Franchetti's.

  She loves Jackie and Jackie considers her the mother he didn't get to have.
  When Paulie took over the crime family most of the members forgot about
  her, except for the older members and Jackie himself.

0======================0
| Captain Edward Shrote \
0=====================================>

  There are many wonderful, brave individuals who help protect and serve in
  the many Police forces within the United States and around the world.
  However, Edward Shrote is *NOT* one of them. He was bent long before he
  became a member of the Police force of New York.

  Shortly after he joined up he met Paulie Franchetti. The two have much in
  common and became friends and business partners. Paulie helped Shrote bust
  up some of Paulie's enemies and that helped make Shrote become Captain.
  Shrote also serves as Paulie's main enforcer using other bent Cops to
  collect protection money and intimidate the weak.

0==============0
| Butcher Joyce \
0=====================================>

  Butcher Joyce is what is known as a Cleaner. A Cleaner enters the scene of
  a Mob hit and scrubs the place down thus removing all evidence. He has been
  working for the Mob for over thirty years. The main reason he has managed
  to stay alive within the volatile power struggles of the Mob is that he has
  never taken sides. Ever.

  But Butcher is a supporter of the old ways and would like to see them
  restored. However, he may have to forgo his neutrality in order for that to
  happen.

With that explained, let's start the story.....

When the game begins, it is Jackie's 21th birthday. However, it is not a good
day so far.

but the money was gone. On top of that Jackie was knocked out by some
bouncer. He is now in the backseat of a convertible heading into.....

When you begin, it is black and you start to hear voices. Pull your Right
Analog Stick either up or down depending on your setup to awaken.

There are two guys, Mikey Cimino and Nino Moretti, in the front seat of the
convertible. They begin to talk about how they didn't get the money for
Paulie and how upset he is going to be. As they continue talking they mention
about going over to Grave's End Construction Site to whack a guy there. They
feel that doing the job would calm down Paulie.

Unfortunately, the Cops find them and begin to chase them. Mikey begins to
drive erratically to shake off the Police. Nino then gives Jackie a Combat
Shotgun and Jackie begins to load it with shells.

Then, one of the Cop cars hits the convertible which sends Nino hanging over
the side. But, before he can get back in, Mikey sideswipes a large truck
which slams Nino's head into the back corner of the truck taking out a large
chunk of his skull, killing Nino in the process.

Jackie then goes into the front seat and you are finally given control. Shoot
out the front windshield. Shortly afterwards you enter the Grave's End area.
You will encounter multiple workers who will shoot at the vehicle but can't
hurt you. This is also where you will get your first chance at an
Achievement:

  >>"Roadkill" Achievement
    **********************
      For this one you need to kill most of the workers inside the tunnel.

      If you set up your controls properly (high X and Y Sensitivity, maximum
      Auto Aim) you can get this Achievement in about three tries (once you
      have memorized the area). This Combat Shotgun doesn't need to be
      reloaded so keep your finger on the trigger the whole time.

      By setting your controls for maximum sensitivity then you can whip the
      gun around quickly. By setting the Auto Aim at maximum then the weapon
      will quickly move to where you can do the most damage to the enemy. You
      need to kill about six of the workers to get the Achievement.

When you have reached the end of the tunnel then you will crash and you will
end up at.....

You will be dazed and on the ground. The game will prompt you to go to your
Journal. Once you do that then you will be able to get up. Go over to Mikey
who is laying on the ground. Help Him and Jackie will drag him to something
he can sit on. Mikey is badly injured (bones sticking out of a leg isn't a
good thing, you know?).

Mikey then pulls out a couple of guns which happens to be his birthday
present to Jackie. You can spend some time talking to Mikey about Sullivan
(the foreman - and target).

When you suggest that they cancel the hit then Mikey refuses and states that
he is feeling good enough to do the hit. But this feeling is all too brief as
Mikey collapses and dies. Bring out your guns and shoot off the lock to open
the nearby door. Right in front of you, on the floor is:

     ==============
  ++[Collectable #1]++
     ==============

Turn right, jump over the crates, and turn right at the corner. You will see
a gated elevator on your right and a stack of drywall ahead of you. Go to the
stack of drywall to find some Pistols then enter the lift. You will also hear
a weird voice inside your head.

After you exit the lift then you will hear a couple of workers talking
amongst themselves. Carefully peek around the edge of the pillar and kill one
of them then go around the pillar and kill the other.

There are Pistols on some drywall to the left of the elevator and on a table
at the right side of the room. Don't forget to pick up the Pistols left
behind by the dead workers. Go through the door and go right. You will also
hear that weird voice again.

Go through the next door and gently creep up the stairs to your left. You
will also get a notice on performing an Execution Move. Sneak up to the
worker at the top of the stairs and perform an Execution Move. In the process
you will also acquire the:

  >>"Up Close and Personal" Achievement
    ***********************************

Killing this worker will alert two more who come out to confront you. Go back
down the stairs a bit and pick them off from there. Once you kill them, come
up and collect the weapons they drop. From here, enter the main building and
go right. Go through the door and go left but stop at the corner.

You should hear a television but there are three workers around the corner.
Peek around the corner and pick them off. After you kill them then you will
hear a helicopter overhead.

Turn around and go back outside then look down the set of stairs you came up
on earlier. Three workers will come up these stairs to confront you. Kill
them, get their dropped weapons, then go back into the main building. Pick up
the Pistols from the dead workers plus the three on the table near the
television set. Go to the lift on one side of the room.

Go up but walk off at the next floor. Turn left and make the jump. Then
follow the walkway until you reach a stack of drywall and a blue trash bin.
On the floor nearby is:

Now head back and jump down to the first floor. There will be three more
workers waiting for you down here. Kill them then call back the lift and take
it up to the top floor. Turn left and go around the corner. Crouch under the
obstacle and turn left.

You will then be taunted by another worker who will open the door ahead. Pick
him off when he peeks his head. After killing the worker then go through the
door, go left and outside. Go right and go up the ladder.

Once at the top then you will see another worker across the way shooting at
you from a window. Pick him off from your position then climb the trash bin
and air conditioners to go through the window. After you go through the
window then turn right and follow the corner and enter the open door to your
left.

Here you will see a television set which will activate when you enter the
room. On it will be Uncle Paulie. He is upset that you are constantly arguing
with him concerning the business. But he has a birthday present for you in
the closet.

However, when you open the closet, you find the dead foreman.....and a bomb

Here you will land in a small room. When you get up, you will be injured.
Head out of the room to regain yourself. It is an option if you want to go
back and face the two gunmen who will shoot at you from above. Go down the
stairs and turn left. As you proceed you will hear that strange voice again:
"Darkness will fall".

Just before you turn the corner you will see a window to your right that
looks into another room. There is a Collectable there but you can't access
that.....yet. Grab the two Pistols on the picnic table and turn the corner.
Go out the door and go right.

You will eventually enter the Cemetery and you will hear a couple of gunmen
talking amongst themselves. Go around the small crypts and ambush them.

After killing them then head into the nearby doorway that leads to the
bathrooms. From the bathroom entrance you can pick off the five additional
gunmen who come to confront you. This will give you additional ammo for your
guns when you kill them.

Now go into the bathroom until you find Frank Rottenberg. Sometimes you can
talk to him, sometimes you can't. If you can talk to him then ask him how to
get out. After talking, or not talking to Frank, leave the restroom.

But, as you near the door, The Darkness finally makes its presence known and
manifests itself. The resulting cutscene shows off the awesome power of The
Darkness and makes quick work of Paulie's Goons.

After that then you are finally given control. Manifest The Darkness then go
and Devour the Heart of the Goon impaled on the fence ahead of you (when he
dies) and the Goon near the small crypt left of the bathroom door.

You will notice that the dead Goon just in front of the bathroom door will
have black smoke coming from it. This is one of the special Hearts that
reveal new powers. When this Heart is Devoured it will give you the ability
to bring up a Berserker Darkling. Call up a Darkling and he will open up the
gate so you can leave.

After opening the gate, this Berserker will attack another Goon hiding behind
a large object. After that Goon dies then Devour his Heart plus the one from
the Goon that was thrown out earlier.

Now turn around and head back through the Cemetery. Remember that window
where you saw the Collectable?

We're heading back to that room. Shoot out the nearby lights, back away from
the door, manifest The Darkness, and use Creeping Dark. Go to the small vent
at the bottom of the door and attack it to dislodge it then enter the room to
collect:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #29]++
     ===============

After acquiring the Collectable then retract Creeping Dark and head back
through the Cemetery and to the gates. After that then turn left and head
forward toward a garage door. You will notice that it is partially open. Use
Creeping Dark and enter the garage where you will find:

     ==============
  ++[Collectable #2]++
     ==============

Now turn left and head toward the subway entrance. But you will hear a
struggle and a maintenance man will be killed. When you go down to him then
you will find a locked gate. You will also be taunted by a Goon.

Go back up and turn left. You will see a small mini building. It has a vent
that will allow you to gain access to where the Goon is. Use Creeping Dark to
enter the vent and attack the fan. Then go inside, Devour the Goon, and get
the key. Retract Creeping Dark and de-manifest.

After that then head into the Subway and in the process you will acquire the:

When you enter the Subway then hang a left to enter Trinity Cemetery Station.
When you do then you will get a page from Jenny who wants you to call her.
Before we do that, however, it is time to do a little exploring of the Canal
Street Station area.

When you enter the Trinity Cemetery Station area, turn left and you will see
a Phone and a Subway Information Terminal. Go behind the Subway Information
Terminal and you will find:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #34]++
     ===============

Head out of the Trinity Cemetery Station area and toward the Canal Street
platform. As you near the corner you will be flagged down by Enzo Scardina.
Talk to Enzo and he will tell you where to find a phone to call Jenny. After
talking to him then head down the stairs but continue straight and up toward
the Lower East Side Station.

When you get past the Subway gates then you should see another Subway
Information Terminal to your right. Behind it is another Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #19]++
     ===============

It should be noted that if you try to go into the Lower East Side you will
find a locked gate with a Police Officer.

Head back and down toward the Canal Street platform. When you reach the
bottom of the stairs, turn right. You should see a Phone but don't use it.
Continue forward to the track and turn right. Continue past the bench and
turn right near the red signal light. In the small hallway you will find a
Collectable on the ground:

     ==============
  ++[Collectable #3]++
     ==============

Continue forward to the next track and you will find a green signal light.
Look to your left and you should see another Collectable sitting just inside
the tunnel:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #88]++
     ===============

After acquiring the Collectable then get back on the platform and head toward
the Chinatown Station area. As you climb the stairs then you will find a man
standing by himself.

Talking to him will give you the option of doing a Side-Quest. Normally I
would wait until near the end of the game to do most of the Side-Quests but
there have been reports concerning not being able to get this Side-Quest late
in the game so I will do his now:

  >>Side-Quest: George Hadel
    ************************
      George is upset that a certain person, Compton Scarr, won't let him
      play his harmonica. You agree to talk to Compton so George can play his
      instrument again.

      Compton Scarr is down on the platform near the Phone leaning up against
      a pillar about twenty feet away from George. After talking to Compton
      then go back up to George to complete the Side-Quest. In return he will
      give you:

           ===============
        ++[Collectable #39]++
           ===============

After completing to Side-Quest then head into the Chinatown Station area. Go
to the left side of the area to find a Phone. Now it is time to call some
phone numbers. First, call Jenny. She will tell you where to find her. She is
in an apartment in Chinatown near the basketball court.

Next, call the Collectable numbers. When you call the first one then you will
receive the:

  >>"Picking Up Stuff" Achievement
    ******************************

And then there is the:

  >>"Keeper of Secrets" Achievement
    *******************************
      As noted earlier there are special phone numbers that will allow you to
      interact with the Keeper of Secrets. You need to dial eighteen special
      phone numbers to complete his calls and acquire this Achievement.

      Someone had posted on the GameFAQs Message Boards a listing of thirty
      five numbers that can be used for this side mission but I only managed
      to find twenty of them within the game. When you use the phone you have
      the option of actually dialing in the number. But you don't need to
      dial the whole number, just the last four digits.

      Listed below are the last digits of the twenty numbers I found that can
      be used to quickly acquire this Achievement:

      1206, 7934, 3947, 4565, 3243, 3840, 6325, 4569, 5723, 1233, 8024, 9898,
      1037, 9562, 1847, 9132, 9985, 6322, 6893, 2402

In addition, there are also two special phone numbers that you can call which
will unlock optional Darkling Outfits:

  >>Special 2K Darkling (555-4263)
    ******************************

  >>European Retailer (Golfer) Darkling (555-5664)
    **********************************************

As you head toward the Chinatown Station exit then you will encounter Nicky
Barruci. He can give you more information on where to find Jenny. After
talking to Nicky then go up and into.....

When you enter the Chinatown area then you will find multiple hitmen waiting
for you above ground. We need to get rid of them first before we can explore.
But, before I go any further, I should point out that this is an excellent
place to get Execution Moves for the "Legendary Executioner" Achievement.

Just run up to the hitmen and perform them. However, even at Easy mode, most
of the time they can kill you after you perform a couple of Execution Moves.
But you can still accumulate them quickly enough to get this Achievement out
of the way if you wish to pursue it.

When you climb up the stairs to ground level then sidestep right to find the
Tourist Information Map. It shows all of the streets in the Chinatown area,
landmarks, and where you are currently at in relation to everything. You will
find these Maps in many places in all of the New York areas and this will
help you find where you are at.

In addition to the Map you should also find posts with street name signs,
usually at the intersections, that will tell you where you are at. You will
also find street name signs on walls at intersections as well. The
combination of street signs and Maps will help you from keeping lost.

Before attacking the hitmen sidestep left from the Map and against the wall
then move forward. After a short distance then you should find a glass case
with some kind of clothing inside. This is one of the six main Darkling
Outfits:

  >>Darkling Outfit #1 - Potato Sack Outfit
    ***************************************

From here, turn left and enter the nearby alley. Turn right at the corner and
proceed to the end of the alley. Creep out and turn right then pick off the
nearby hitmen.

After killing the five hitmen and Devouring their Hearts (plus getting their
dropped Pistols) then blow out all nearby lights and go to the end of Orchid
St. where it meets Harcourt St. Here, near the large container crates, you
will encounter two more hitmen. Deal with them the same way as you did the
others.

Not far from the container crates, near the corner, is a trash bin against
the wall. In the corner next to the trash bin is:

     ==============
  ++[Collectable #5]++
     ==============

After obtaining the Collectable then continue along Harcourt St. where you
will find two more hitmen. Devour them and, at this point, with fifteen
Hearts taken, you should now get an additional Darkness Level.

From here, continue around the corner and back to the Subway entrance. Now go
back to Orchid St. and turn left. Continue forward and when you get to the
corner of Orchid and George streets, you will find two more hitmen. But
before you get there, go to where the blocked off apartment entrance is at,
kill a couple of lights, then activate Creeping Dark.

Now creep up to the corner but don't turn it quite yet. If you stay put you
can listen to some funny conversation between the two hitmen. If you turn to
your left you should see the entrance to Doyers Alley and the back entrance
to the Green Olive Grove Restaurant.

When they're finished talking then go around the corner, Devour them, and
pick up weapons. Then retract Creeping Dark, shoot out all nearby lights at
and inside Doyers Alley, and go back to the corner and down George St.

After you get past the two trash bins and phone booth you should see two
small poles on the right side of the street. This indicates the entrance of a
small L-shaped entranceway for a closed door. By this door is:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #53]++
     ===============

Continue down George St. and Turn right at the corner then go along Victoria
St. while shooting out all the lights you encounter. As you get to the
intersection with Mulberry Alley you should start to hear Jenny call out to
you. Ignore her for now.

Continue down Victoria St. and when you get to the the intersection with
Lester St. then you will find the last two hitmen. Hang back, knock out some
lights leading to the intersection, and use Creeping Dark. Creep up to the
hitmen, Devour them, pick up weapons, and retract Creeping Dark.

Not far from this corner is a closed Newsstand and a Phone Booth. In front of
this closed Newsstand is another Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #91]++
     ===============

Fron here, continue down Lester St. then turn right when you reach Orchid St.
Go forward until you get back to the Orchid and Plum St. intersection. When
you reach the Orchid and Plum intersection again, look to your right.

You should see another entrance into Mulberry Alley. Head into the alley
until you reach a small chain-link fence which should be to your right. Do a
180 around the end of the chain-link fence and you should see another
Collectable ahead of you near the wall:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #90]++
     ===============

After acquiring the Collectable then head back around the fence and continue
through the alley until you hear Jenny's voice. When you do then angle left
at the corner to find the building she lives in. Enter the apartment and go
up to the second floor where Apartment 11 is. Ring the Doorbell and enter her
apartment.

She will surprise you with a cake. Blow Out the Candles and you will be able
to talk to her. You can pretty much tell her anything, including the truth,
and the conversation will end up the same.

She wants you to stay for awhile and tells you that Butcher came for him and
wants Jackie to call. She has the number by her phone. Get the number and
Jenny will ask Jackie to sit with her.

It is also here that you can get an easy Achievement. You need to sit with
Jenny for awhile watching the movie "To Kill A Mockingbird". After about
three minutes, about halfway through the main credits, then you will get the:

  >>"Romantic" Achievement
    **********************

One interesting thing about the televisions that you find throughout the
game. You can actually watch full length cartoons, music videos, and even
movies. If you wanted to you could sit in Jenny's apartment and watch "To
Kill A Mockingbird" in its entirety.

Look right towards the Phone and you should get the prompt that will let you
get up and leave. Go to the Phone and call Butcher Joyce. He will tell you to
meet him at The Green Olive Grove Restaurant (in Doyer's Alley) where he is
doing a cleanup after the chef got killed. You need to go to the kitchen
entrance at Doyer's Alley near Jenny's apartment.

Leave the apartment and, as you reach the door, you will get a nasty page
from Paulie. After you exit the apartment and head towards Victoria St. then
you will see someone getting chased by a couple of Goons looking for Jackie.

Blow out a couple of nearby lights (if you haven't done so already) and use
Creeping Dark to deal with the Goons. After Devouring them then retract
Creeping Dark and de-manifest. Go to Victoria St, turn left at the corner,
and talk to the man you saved, Pete Chen. Explain the Situation and he will
give you:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #44]++
     ===============

Now go forward to the corner of Victoria and George streets. When you do, you
will see a car drive up with a couple of Goons. Stay just around the corner
and use Creeping Dark to Devour them.

Then head down along George St. and to the two trash bins near the next
corner. Either shoot the three Goons at the entrance of Doyer's Alley or use
Creeping Dark to Devour them.

After that, head to the entrance of Doyer's Alley, shoot out the nearby
lights (if you didn't do so already), and use Creeping Dark to go inside the
alley. You will encounter two more Goons.

If you just hang back a little then you will hear some interesting
conversation. Devour them and retract. Another option is to use the Darkling
Portal to spawn a Berzerker, kill the light deep inside the alley, and sic
him on the two Goons.

After dealing with all of the Goons then jump over the railing and to the
kitchen entrance for The Green Olive Grove Restaurant and into.....

Enter the kitchen entrance and follow the short hallway to the kitchen. It is
here where you will find Butcher Joyce who is busy cleaning up after a messy
hit job. While he is talking turn left and you should see a refrigerator
door. Enter the refrigerator and look left at the shelves. Here you will
find:

     ==============
  ++[Collectable #6]++
     ==============

Go back out and help Butcher pick up one of the bodies. Then head back to his
car. After putting the body in the car then you can ask him for various
information and Eddie Shrote and the Chicago Families.

Then Butcher suggests that you take down Paulie before he does the same to
Jackie. He also suggests that you hurt Paulie's business enough to get the
Chicago Families to get rid of Paulie. He says that you should go after Dutch
Oven Harry who is one of Paulie's partners. You need to go through the
Whitefish Alley Pool Hall to get to Dutch Oven Harry.

As the conversation ends, you hear the Cops. Butcher tells Jackie to go back
into the restaurant. When you go back into the restaurant, pull out your
Pistols and shoot out the Light Control Panel which is right next to the
kitchen door.

You will also be threatened by Captain Shrote who wants you to come out with
your hands up. However, he has no interest in taking you in alive. So head
back to the kitchen entrance door and manifest The Darkness. Then use
Creeping Dark and head to the dining room. At this point the SWAT team has
managed to bust through one of the walls and are making their entrance.

Use the Creeping Dark to Devour them. Make sure none of the three SWAT
members get to your position. Since they wield Combat Shotguns they can kill
you before you can fully retract the Creeping Dark.

Two more SWAT members will come through the main entrance. Kill them with the
Creeping Dark before they get to you. After Devouring all available Hearts
then head to the main entrance.

When you get outside, blow out the two lights. When you get closer to the
nearby trash bin then you will be attacked by a Police helicopter so hang
inside the doorway. When it goes away, just stand outside the main entrance
and activate Creeping Dark.

Head toward the Police cars ahead. Devour the Cops so you aren't forced back
too soon. After killing all four Cops then retract Creeping Dark then proceed
out to the parking lot and to the metal archway for the Restaurant.
De-manifest The Darkness for now.

When you get to the Police car near the metal archway then you should see a
Mailbox across the street. To the left of the Mailbox is an alley. Approach
the alley and you will be attacked by a Police helicopter. Enter the alley
but go in just a little bit. At the end of the alley is a chain-link fence
that will close and lock on you and you will be attacked by a pair of Cops.

Just ahead of you is a little nook with a trash bin. Just above it and to the
left is a vent. Blow out the nearby lights and use Creeping Dark to enter the
vent. When you enter the vent turn left and proceed forward. Continue forward
and you will see another vent at the end. But, before you get to the vent,
you will find:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #55]++
     ===============

After obtaining the Collectable then attack the vent ahead and proceed out
and down. Devour the two Cops and then Destroy the Lock to open the gate.
Retract Creeping Dark and go through it. After you get past the gate, stop.
You are now on Bass St. (even though it is nothing more than an over
glorified alley).

Turn right and send Creeping Dark out through the alley and toward Clark St.
(after shooting out any nearby lights). As you near the street then you will
encounter a approaching Police Car and two Cops will exit. Devour them and
this will get you a little closer to obtaining full Darkness Level sooner.

But, before you retract Creeping Dark, there is something else you can do.
Next to the front of the Police car, to the left, is a Tourist Information
Map and a Telephone Booth. Inside this Telephone Booth is:

     ==============
  ++[Collectable #7]++
     ==============

After obtaining the Collectable, retract Creeping Dark and proceed to Clark
St. As you near the street then the Police helicopter will re-appear and
hover to your left. You have to go through the alleys to get to where you
need to go otherwise you will be shot it.

But, by getting the helicopter to move here then you can gain early access to
a Collectable. From here, turn around and go back through the alley you came
from and to the Police cars outside the restaurant. Then turn right and you
should see the top of the Subway stairs. Continue past them and you should
enter a large dead-end area.

On one side of this dead-end area is a short alley. At the end of this alley
is another Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #56]++
     ===============

Now turn around and go through the alley back to Bass St. When you get back
then turn left, go towards the end of the alley, and climb the ladder. Walk
the planks above Whitefish Alley and jump down onto the container crate below
where you will find another Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #54]++
     ===============

As you collect the Collectable then you will see another Cop car approach.
Jump down behind the container crate, and near the Darkling Portal, and use
Creeping Dark to Devour the two Cops.

When you get past the Cop car then you will be at the intersection of
Waterfront St. and Whitefish Alley with the Whitefish Pool Hall to your left.
However, I am going after an additional couple of Hearts for my Darkness
Level.

Head down Waterfront St. a little bit and you will see a Cop car coming from
a tunnel, which leads to Pier 19, ahead of you. It will park at the
intersection and two more Cops will emerge. Go back to the nearby
intersection with Whitefish Alley and use Creeping Dark to Devour the two
Cops.

Then head past the Police car and into.....

You won't need to come here until later in the game but you can get some
extra Hearts here in Chapter One. When you start this area then you will be
at the bottom of an incline. Move forward a couple of steps and a small gang
will appear in the area to your right.

Use Creeping Dark and move it forward toward the gang. There are five of them
and Devour them to claim their Hearts. This will allow you to get closer to
maximum Darkness Power and towards the two Achievements attached to Devouring
Hearts. After killing the gang then retract Creeping Dark.

Now move up to the top of the incline. When you get to the top of this
incline, turn right. You should see a small building to your right. Go past
this building and you will find a small parking lot.

In the parking lot you should see a large moving van. In one corner of the
parking lot you should find a long alley. At the end of this alley is:

opening into larger area. Here you will find a Pistol next to a doorway and a
body in the middle of this area. But the body is of an innocent person and
therefore you cannot get a Heart from him.

Get back onto the main road and head into the Pier 19 area. When you get
there then you should see a large red crane near the edge of the water. Go
past the red crane and to the water's edge. Then turn right and proceed
forward. You should encounter a garage door.

When you enter the main pool hall then go forward and angle right at the

outside. Just as you get outside, and at the top of the stairs ahead of you,
is another Collectable:

     ==============

Head down the stairs to encounter Matty Forehand. Ask About Dutch Oven Harry
and Matty will give you the password to enter his place ("hit me"). After
talking to Matty, look around. You should see a light on the wall to the

Now head to a point on the other side of the alley directly across from the
door. Then use Creeping Dark to knock out the window above the door and creep
behind the door then unlock it. Retract Creeping Dark, de-manifest, and go
through the now unlocked door.

Once inside, go right and enter the main room. On the floor ahead of you is
another Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #97]++
     ===============

And on the wall ahead of you is another Darkling Outfit:

  >>Darkling Outfit #2 - Jungle Outfit
    **********************************

After you obtain the Collectable and Outfit then exit the room and head
toward the blue trash bin ahead of you and to the left. Climb over the trash
bin and into the open area. On the right side of the open area is a set of
stairs leading down to Dutch Oven Harry's hideout.

Before I go any further I should point out that this place is where you can
get three Achievements. Two can only be done here and the third is optional.
Before going up to the door, switch to your Combat Shotgun then back to your
hands. This will help with one of the Achievements.

For starters, go up to the door and it will be answered by Dmitri Mihailov.
Give him the answer he is looking for and he will let you enter and suggests
you talk to Roach.

After getting past him then continue forward and you will encounter Little
Teaford and Bobby Caballero. Just to Bobby's right is a barrel with a pair of
Pistols on top. Continue past them and you will enter the "living room" with
three more Goons (Bill Hagensen, Ernesto Macabeo, Jerry Wodskow).

On the other side of the "living room" is another hallway which will get you

      You need to walk up to Roach without any hostilities and ask about
      Dutch Oven Harry. If you go into the hideout and kill everybody then
      you will not get this Achievement.

When Roach finishes up the phone call then he will then attack you. At this
point you might want to go after the optional Achievement:

  >>"Knuckle, Meet Face" Achievement
    ********************************
      Get behind Roach and use the Fire Right Button to pull out the Combat
      Shotgun then use the Left Fire Button to melee with it and smack Roach.
      After about three hits then you should kill Roach and get the
      Achievement.

At this point you can go ahead and kill the remaining Goons within the
hideout so you can proceed. However, if you want, you can do Checkpoint
Restart and try for the third Achievement:

  >>"Gunslinger" Achievement
    ************************
      This is the only place you can do this Achievement because there are
      only seven Goons in this enclosed controlled area. The important thing
      to know is that, to best get this Achievement, you must properly place
      yourself within the hideout.

      Before you get to the hideout, whip out the Pistols then switch back to
      your hands. This will ensure that you have the correct weapons in hand
      later.

      When you enter the hideout, head straight for the "living room". When
      you enter the "living room", look to your right. You should see the
      wall curve toward a corner with a pallet.

      You need to put yourself in this corner and turn to face the three
      Goons in this room. This will put you in a position to be as close to
      as many Goons as possible (three in this room plus the two you just
      passed).

      Now rotate the camera slightly so you are "aiming" at Ernesto (who is
      leaning against the wall). Push the Right Fire Button to pull out the
      Pistols and the reticle should be close to Ernesto's head. Aim at
      Ernesto's head and kill him with a headshot as the Goons are trying to
      get into position (and start the clock).

      Next, quickly kill Bill and Jerry with headshots as they are trying to
      get up off the couch. Then turn the corner and face Bobby and Little
      Teaford. Shoot at Bobby first since he has a Shotgun. Keep your gun
      high to get headshots. Do *NOT* move forward or you may get yourself
      into potential Execution Moves which will waste valuable time.

      After killing Bobby and Little Teaford then go after Dmitri. Do not go
      forward after Dmitri but stay near Bobby/Little Teaford. Dmitri is the
      wild card here. He is quite tough so it may take several shots to put
      him down unless you get him with a headshot.

      If he manages to shoot out the light control panel near the entrance
      then quickly manifest The Darkness so you can use Darkness Shield.
      Dmitri is the one you may lose the most time with so it is important to
      try for a quick headshot.

      Once Dmitri is down then run toward Roach as fast as you can. When you
      get to him, shoot him up as quickly as possible to get the Achievement.
      If you don't get the Achievement, do Checkpoint Restart and try again.

It should be pointed that if you Devoured every Heart that you have come
across, including the four extra Hearts from the Lower East Side and the five
from Pier 19, then you should move up to the next Darkness Level.

After you have killed everybody in the hideout, collected weapons, and
Devoured Hearts, then shoot out the light control panel near the entrance to
knock out the lights, manifest The Darkness, and head over back to Roach's
body then talk to Harry over the intercom.

It doesn't matter how you answer, two more Goons will appear. One will enter
the hideout with the other just outside. Use Creeping Dark to take down the
one in the hideout and the other outside if you can.

Once both Goons are down, head outside. You will find a fire escape ladder
has been lowered. But there is another Goon on the first fire escape level.
Kill him with a Pistol headshot the climb the ladder and Devour his Heart.

Go up to the third fire escape level and enter the open window. Go to the
lamp on the left side of the room and shoot it out. As you are doing so you
will get another nasty page from Paulie.

From this room, use Creeping Dark to go to the living room of this apartment
and kill the two Goons there. After that, retract Creeping Dark and proceed
into the living room. When you get into the living room, look to your right
and you should see an entranceway into the kitchen. You should see two
Pistols on the table plus one Collectable on the floor:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #57]++
     ===============

Collect everything and head toward the front door. After you open the door
you will see stairs to your left. Two Goons will come down to attack you.
Kill them both and Devour Hearts. Don't go up the stairs yet.

To the right of the door is a blocked off stairwell. But, just below the wall
that blocks the stairwell, is another Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #58]++
     ===============

After that, head up the stairs. Go through the next door to knock down a
Goon. Shoot him and Devour his Heart. Shoot out the lights and use Creeping
Dark to enter the next room where you will find three more Goons. Devour them
then enter the kitchen area.

  **Alternate Method
    ****************
      If you're good at using Creeping Dark then you can stand just inside
      the darkened hideout and use it to clear out the entire building before
      proceeding to Dutch Oven Harry (and obtaining the Collectables along
      the way.

As you get into the kitchen then you will hear Dutch Oven Harry proclaiming
that Estacado is approaching and he is telling Paulie to blow up the
orphanage. The orphanage? He doesn't mean St. Mary's Orphanage does he? This
sounds bad.

As you enter the kitchen area then you should see a whiteboard. On the
whiteboard you will find a crudely drawn plan to blow up the orphanage that
Jackie grew up in. Oh, now this is real bad.

Run up the stairs and to Dutch Oven Harry. But, at this point, The Darkness
takes control and pulls Jackie forward. You will see something explode in the
background and this will cause Dutch Oven Harry to fall over backward and to
his death.

When The Darkness is finished then you will be on a lower platform just above
the subway tunnel entrance. Jump down to the platform below but stay on the
right side to avoid the tracks. When you reach the bottom then you will find
another Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #59]++
     ===============

If you look at Dutch Oven Harry's body you will see black smoke coming from
his mouth. This is one of the special Hearts and when Devoured you will gain
the ability to call up Gunner Darklings. Call up a Gunner Darkling and she
will shoot up an oncoming train which will cause it to stop.

Then head through the other end of the tunnel so you can re-enter.....

As you are going through the tunnel then you will get another nasty page from
Paulie. When you get into Canal Street Station you will also get a page from
Jenny. When you jump onto the platform then head to a nearby Phone.

When you call Paulie he will scream at you that the destruction of St. Mary's
Orphanage was Jackie's fault and that Jackie will never have another day of
peace as long as he lives. When you call Jenny she is upset at the
destruction and that she is heading over to the St. Mary's Orphanage area to
try to help.

But, before you go there, let's go ahead and call the Collectable numbers to
get them out of the way. Then head to the side of the platform where the Next

Before we head to the St. Mary's Orphanage Station let's explore a little.
Turn right and you should see the door to the Men's Room. Enter and head to
the stalls. In the leftmost stall is where you can find another Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #95]++
     ===============

After exiting the Men's Room then turn right and head down the corridor and
to the next track. Directly across the tracks is another Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #10]++
     ===============

After obtaining this Collectable then jump back to the platform. Before
heading to the St. Mary's Orphanage Station I am going to do a couple of
quick Side-Quests here at Fulton St. Station.

Find the Women's Restroom and you should see a woman with a white and gray
jacket hanging around the train tracks nearby. She is Charlene Warburton and
she will wager that you can't pick up all four coins she throws onto the
train tracks before the train comes by. Accept her challenge:

  >>Side-Quest: Charlene Warburton
    ******************************
      She will go to a point between two green poles. Go down the platform a
      bit then jump onto the tracks and turn in her general direction. When
      she throws the coins, they will go in a wide spread. By putting
      yourself in this position then you can get all four coins in one pass
      before the train comes.

      When the coins hit the ground, quickly proceed up the tracks tapping
      the Use Button as fast as you can. If you do this right then you should
      get all four coins. Then jump onto the platform before you are hit by
      the train. If you somehow didn't get all four coins then you will have
      to try again.

      When you have successfully acquired all four coins then talk to her
      using the Use Button and she will give you the following Collectable:

           ===============
        ++[Collectable #42]++
           ===============

After that Side-Quest then head to the opposite side of the platform. Here
you will see a woman with a tan jacket hanging around the track. She is
Ingrid Pulanski and she is upset over the bracelet she lost on the tracks.
Agree to help her:

  >>Side-Quest: Ingrid Pulanski
    ***************************
      Go to one end of the tracks and back enough away from them to make the
      train move. Then jump onto the tracks, move to go against the platform,
      and move forward down the tracks looking for a small flashing object
      which should be just underneath the platform.

      Keep an ear out for the train and jump back onto the platform when it
      arrives. Then back away from the train to get it to move away then jump
      back onto the tracks and continue the search. When you find the
      Bracelet then pick it up, jump back onto the platform, and give it back
      to her.

      It should be pointed out that you can get the Bracelet before you talk
      to her to start the Side-Quest. Then, after talking to her, back away
      for a bit then approach her again to give her the Bracelet.

      As a reward she will give you another Collectable:

           ===============
        ++[Collectable #41]++
           ===============

After this then head up to the St. Mary's Orphanage station to find Jenny and
Jimmy the Grape. They are looking at a television which is tuned to a
newscast from the St. Mary's Orphanage fire. After the newscast ends, Jimmy
pulls Jackie away so he can talk to him.

Jimmy has had enough of Paulie's antics and suggests that someone torch the
money that Paulie has stored for the Chicago Families over in Grinder's Lane.
Jackie wants to do it but he needs the blessing from Jimmy first. Jimmy is
more than happy to give it to him.

Now head back down to the platform and head to the Grinder's Lane Station so
you can enter.....

When you get up the stairs then you should see a man ahead of you. This man,
Frank Mortis, is a little freaked out about the activities inside the
Grinder's Lane Abattoir. He will also tell you of a control box that will
open the gate leading inside the place.

Go along the wall and to the corner. Then just go past the corner and stop.
You should hear a couple of Goons talking amongst themselves. Shoot out a
couple of nearby lights. Then send Creeping Dark over the wall and attack the
panel which will allow the gate to open.

Then find and Devour the two Goons. Retract Creeping Dark and enter the
Abattoir area. Head up the short steps then stop. Shoot out a couple of
nearby lights then send Creeping Dark to the wall ahead of you and up. Then
turn right and go around the corner. You should be above a tin roof and it is
on this roof where you can find another Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #62]++
     ===============

After obtaining the Collectable, retract Creeping Dark then angle right and
under the tin roof. Here you should see three doors. The one on the left is
not functional. The one in the middle is functional and the one to the right
is a Workshop.

Go and enter the Workshop. Here you will find some Gasoline. Take it then
head to the middle door and enter the Abattoir proper. As you enter each
freezer, shoot out lights. When you reach the fourth freezer then you will
encounter three Goons.

Stay in the doorway and pick them off with your Pistols. After you kill them
then go just a little inside the room and shoot out a couple of nearby
lights.

At this point then you will be attacked by two more Goons including one with
Sub-Machine Guns. Pick them off before they can do much damage. After killing
these two Goons then go and devour Hearts and collect weapons then head to
the next door.

When you enter the next room, start shooting out lights. Then a Goon will
come through the door on the other side of the room. Pick him off.

As you approach the door that the Goon opened then you will find another door
to the right. Behind this door is where the money is kept and is being
guarded by three Goons. You can shoot out the window and kill the Goons but I
have something else in mind.

Enter the room that the first Goon came from and to the next door leading to
the cafeteria (shooting out the lights as you go). When you open the door to
the cafeteria then you will find two more Goons. Pick them off from your
position then shoot out lights and Devour Hearts.

Open the door leading to the hallway and you should hear a television. Shoot
out the two nearby lights then send Creeping Dark to the door which should be
left of your position. Open the door and enter. Here you should see a Goon
who is engrossed in the cartoon he is watching. Devour him then retract.

Enter the room to your right and shoot out the light. Down on the floor in
the corner is a vent. Send Creeping Dark to it, attack it to dislodge it,
then send it inside. Go up the vent and you should encounter another
Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #36]++
     ===============

Creep ahead just a little bit and you should enter the room with the money
and Goons. But just ahead of you on the far wall is a flashing panel.

This is an electric cabinet and, if smashed, will open the door and the Goons
will exit and head to your position. Retract Creeping Dark then send Creeping
Dark back into the hallway and cafeteria. Then pick off the Goons as they
either head your way or wander just outside the room they were in.

After killing the three Goons retract Creeping Dark then head back into the
hallway. However, just go straight ahead and to the SECOND door on the right
side of the hallway. Inside you should find a desk just ahead of you. Just
behind the desk is:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #11]++
     ===============

From here, go back through the cafeteria and to the room where the money is
being kept. Set the money on fire then leave the Abattoir area and to the
Subway stairs. But, stop just before you go down the Subway stairs.

If you look at the stairs and then just above them you will see a boxcar-like
structure with three windows. Send Creeping Dark up the wall and then into
one of the three windows of this structure (after smashing out one of them).
On one side of this structure you will find:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #60]++
     ===============

Retract Creeping Dark and look to your left. You should see a chain-link
fence. This leads to the St. Mary's Orphanage area but you can't go this way
from here yet.

Now go back down the stairs into the Subway and head to a nearby Phone. Call
the Collectable numbers then head back to the St. Mary's Orphanage Station.

Here you will find Jimmy the Grape who is struggling to get up. He was
attacked from behind by Paulie and Capt. Shrote. They took Jenny to the
orphanage and Jackie needs to get there quickly to save her.

Go through the now opened Subway door and into.....

When you get to the Subway stairs, stop and listen. There are a couple of
Goons talking. Pull out your Pistols and gently creep up the stairs. Pick off
the one you see to your left and two more will show themselves. Pick them off
from your position then come up and Devour Hearts.

Now let's do a little exploring first before proceeding. Go down the street
and past the entrance to the Orphanage. Then head to the intersection and
turn right where you will find a loading ramp area. Send Creeping Dark under
near where the ramp is to find:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #12]++
     ===============

Now head back to the Orphanage. Just before you get to the main door, stop
and shoot out the nearby lights. Then send Creeping Dark up and to an area
just above the main door. On the small set of steps is where you will find:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #98]++
     ===============

Now, enter the Orphanage. As you enter the place you will be subjected to
memories of your time there. When you reach the bottom of the stairs, go
left. Here, you will enter a classroom. Go up to where the desks are and in
the corner is where you will find:

     ================
  ++[Collectable #100]++
     ================

Now head back to the main door area and go straight through the other door.
Follow the way and you will open a door into the badly damaged room. Turn
right to find the door leading upstairs. When you get upstairs you will
encounter a memory of you and Jenny.

Here, you will also find two doors. Go through the one on the right and you
will be back in the badly damaged room but on the second floor.

There is a Collectable nearby but it is in a room just to the right of this
door. However, you need to jump across the platform ahead of you and then
turn right and jump again. Then jump again to reach the burned beds. Now go
to the nearby door where you will find:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #99]++
     ===============

After obtaining this Collectable then head back the way you came and go
through the other door. At this point, The Darkness will pull you across and
to the next room.

From here, go right and through the door. Then turn left and to the next door
which will start.....

When you get to this door then The Darkness takes control. It covers your
mouth so you can't talk and holds your wrists so you can't get free. Then you
are forced into the next room.

Here, you see Jenny being held against her will by Paulie and Eddie. Paulie
will go on about being hurt and betrayed by Jackie and how he always hurts
those who hurt him. Jackie struggles but can't get free.

Then, in one brutal instant, Paulie puts Jenny's head up against the glass
and kills her with a shot to the head. Noticing that Jackie is helpless
Paulie decides to finish Jackie off. But The Darkness intervenes and scares
off Paulie and Eddie.

The Darkness then releases Jackie. Jackie goes to his knees near Jenny.
Jackie is distraught and finds the gun that Paulie dropped. Then Jackie heads
back to the previous room and to a mirror. Jackie feels he cannot go on
without Jenny. That and the fact that he has a weird creature buried within
him that allowed Jenny to die.

He decides to finish what Paulie tried to do and puts the gun in his mouth.
The Darkness tries to stop him. It says that it is not his time. But Jackie
ignores it and manages to pull the trigger.....

Now switch to your Pistols and kill the German Soldier. When you do then you
will get the:

  >>"Beginnings" Achievement
    ************************

This soldier will emit black smoke which indicates a new Darkness Power.
Devouring this Heart will give you the Demon Arm. Now that you more than one
Darkness Power you use the D-Pad Up/Down to switch between them. After
acquiring the Demon Arm power, take a look around.

The soldier you just killed is wearing a dark uniform and a pointy helmet
with crosses on the collar. This is the uniform worn by German Soldiers in
World War I. But these soldiers here are different. They are technically
undead. If you attack them they will go down. But if you leave them alone for
a bit then they will get back up.

The only way to keep them down is if you Devour their Hearts before they get
back up. This is why your stats for most of the Darkness Master Achievement,
especially Demon Arm, won't go up when dealing with these guys.

Now go back to the three dead soldiers that the German Soldier executed. If
the solider you just killed is German then these fellows are the Allied
Soldiers. But, when you look closely at them, you will see that their heads
appear to be stitched together. Odd.

Okay, go back to the room where you started and grab all of the Pistols and
Rifles you find. Don't forget to grab the two Pistols in the broken crate not
far from where you killed the German Soldier.

Now go past the dead German Soldier and to the blockage not far from him. You
will also find another Pistol just before you get to it. Shoot out the nearby
lights and use Demon Arm to destroy the blockage. It is also recommended to
use the Demon Arm to destroy the lights to conserve ammo.

While you still have the Demon Arm out, take down the German Soldier that
comes from the room just behind the blockage then Devour his Heart to keep
him down. Do the same to the German Soldier approaching from the other end of
the corridor. Go into the room where the first German Soldier emerged to find
additional weapons.

Go to where you killed the second German Soldier and you will find a nook in
the trench. Here you will find a Rifle and some Binoculars. Look through the
Binoculars and you will see a weird looking bird-like creature sitting on a
rock.

After looking through the Binoculars then turn around but don't move. Switch
to Creeping Dark then send it forward and up the trench wall. When it gets to
the top of the trench wall then send it forward over the next wall and you
should see the foundation of a ruined house. Turn right and you should find:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #14]++
     ===============

You may notice that the Collectable looks different than the ones you have
found before. These are envelopes and must be mailed to be unlocked. But you
can't do it in this chapter. Just collect them and we will mail them later.

Retract Creeping Dark, turn right then back up against the wall. The
Binoculars should be to your right. Activate Creeping Dark then send up over
the trench wall. When you get to the top then angle right and go over the
barbed wire fence.

After going over the barbed wire fence then turn left and go up the wall and
over. On the other side is a German Soldier. Devour the German Soldier then
retract Creeping Dark and move forward through the trench and around the next
corner.

As you progress down the next trench section then you will see a bi-plane
crash ahead of you. The crash will also eject its pilot which is another
German Soldier. This soldier is also emitting black smoke which indicates a
new Darkness Power. Devouring this Heart will give you the ability to call up
Kamikaze Darklings.

Call up a Kamikaze Darkling so you can destroy the blockage in the small
tunnel. Then send Creeping Dark into the L-shaped tunnel and Devour the two
German Soldiers in the next room. Retract then go into the small room to get
another Rifle and exit.

As you proceed then you will encounter another German Soldier who comes
around the corner but is taken down by an explosion before he can harm you.
Devour his Heart and turn the next corner. You will find another German
Soldier. Shoot him and Devour his Heart.

When you turn the next corner, you will see a barrel on the ground. Go up to
this barrel and stop. Shoot out the nearby lights then send Creeping Dark
around the next corner. Here you will find two more German Soldiers. Devour
their Hearts so they stay down.

Next, head to where the two now-dead German Soldiers are and stop. You are on
a path that leads out of the Trenches. But there is something I'm going to do
first before going any further.

To the right side of this path is some ruins and four German Soldiers.
Devouring them will give you four addition Hearts getting you closer
to maximum Darkness Level sooner. I recommend using Creeping Dark to attack
them from your current position.

You can also send Creeping Dark ahead from this area and to the bird-like
creature you saw in the Binoculars earlier. This creature is called
Pestilence, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. At the feet of
Pestilence is:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #63]++
     ===============

Retract Creeping Dark and proceed out of the Trenches. Now go left and up a
small hill with a tree. Once past the tree then you will encounter another
ruined house. Beyond this house is a chasm with a bunker on the other side.

However, what I'm looking for is a wooden hatch in the floor of this ruined
house. Once you find it, shoot it out and go down. Here, you will find a
downed German Soldier (Devour his Heart), a Rifle and Pistol, and:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #13]++
     ===============

After that then climb out of this cellar, manifest The Darkness, and proceed
to where Pestilence is. There is a bridge to the right of it that leads to
next area.

However, Pestilence will occasionally emit a powerful sonic emission which
will hurt you. By having The Darkness manifested you can take advantage of
the Darkness Shield and limit the damage Pestilence can inflict. If you
didn't get Collectable #63 with the Creeping Dark then you have to go
up to Pestilence to get it before crossing the bridge.

Once across the bridge, and past Pestilence, then you will encounter two more
German Soldiers. Attack then with your Pistols and Devour them then proceed
forward and do the same to the next pair of German Soldiers you come across.
If you proceed past the nearby barrel then you will find a couple of Pistols.

From here, continue forward and you will find a large bunker. Naturally, the
door is locked. So shoot out the light above it and send Creeping Dark
through the window of the gun bunker to the right of the main door.

Devour the German Soldier you find then proceed into the main room.Devour the
German Soldier you find in the main room and do the same with the other two
in the corridor the starts near the main door. After dealing with them, go
and unlock the main door so you can enter. As you are killing off these
German Soldiers then you will also gain a Darkness Level.

After cleaning out the room of ammo, head to the next door. However, it is
locked so shoot out the nearby lights and use Creeping Dark to go into one of
the small windows above this door. Devour the German Soldier on the
other side and then unlock the door. Retract Creeping Dark and proceed.

From this door, if you go right then left you will find another corridor with
a German Soldier at the end. Devour him.

From this same door, if you go left then right you will find a clear corridor
with a box of explosives at the end. Just at the entrance of this corridor
you will find a Darkling Portal. Call up a Kamikaze Darkling and he will
destroy the box of explosives, which will open a hole in the wall, so you can
proceed.

Oh, before I continue, it should be noted that if you are good at using
Creeping Dark then you can Devour all five German Soldiers and unlock both
doors while still outside.

When you get through the hole the Kamikaze made then turn left. The bunker
you just exited should be to your left. Follow the curved wall of the bunker
to the other side. You should be almost directly across from the hole you
exited from.

Now send Creeping Dark along the wall. Once you get past the first abutment
then look down. You should now see:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #38]++
     ===============

Retract Creeping Dark and proceed away from the bunker area. De-manifest the
Darkness and retract weapons. After awhile then you will encounter more
trenches. However, these are the Allied Trenches and are filled with Allied
Soldiers.

If you look closely at them then you will find they all have heads that are
stitched together. Even more odd is the fact that each stitched piece appears
to come from a different head making them look even more surreal.

At one end of the trenches you will find Captain Eldridge and Corporal
Greenwood. Captain Eldridge will remark that you are with "that other Yank"
in the Village. Corporal Greenwood will point to a tunnel that you must go
through to get to the Village.

As you go down the ladder then you will be warned by The Darkness to stay
away but proceed anyway. Continue forward to enter the.....

As you are loading up this section then you will obtain the:

  >>"No Man's Land" Achievement
    ***************************

After you turn the corner then you will enter a small room with a soldier
playing the harmonica. If you look down from your higher position then you
will see a Collectable on the floor near him:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #15]++
     ===============

Proceed forward from this room and climb up the ladder. When you reach the
top then you will encounter another soldier who somehow recognizes you and
tells you to proceed to the Church. However, before going there, then make a
U-turn going right and proceed down the walkway into a small building. Here,
you will find:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #66]++
     ===============

From here, exit this small building, climb the two small set of stairs ahead
of you, and turn right. Proceed forward past the soldier, down the next small
set of stairs, and stop at the bridge that has a sign that says "Hills" next
to it. Not far from it is another bridge but that leads to Famine, another
one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

From the Hills bridge, turn left, proceed forward, and climb down the ladder.
Turn around and you should see another Collectable on the floor ahead of you:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #65]++
     ===============

Collect that and go back up the ladder. From here, proceed forward, past the
Hills bridge, and stop at the beginning of the second bridge. Just to the
right is a small set of stairs that leads to a destroyed home. Go up these
stairs, turn right, and you should see another Collectable just off to the
left:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #16]++
     ===============

After obtaining this Collectable then go forward and jump over the destroyed
wall to the ground. Then turn right and proceed to the set of stairs ahead of
you. When you reach these stairs then go down and through the door. Then turn
left and proceed into the main room.

Here you will meet Anthony Estacado, your great-great-grandfather. He admits
to letting The Darkness into the family line. He explains that The Darkness
is a living being "old as time" and it needs a living host to survive.

However, Jackie broke the rules and killed himself before his time. So The
Darkness brought him here, into some twisted version of World War I, while it
repairs Jackie's body.

Anthony also tells of a couple of weapons that can be used to control The
Darkness. He also sends Jackie out to find them. They can be found in the
Hills area from a man on a cross.

After talking to Anthony then proceed out of the Church and head to the other
side of the Village to the bridge leading into the Hills. Then cross the
bridge and into the tunnel leading into.....

When you are finished loading then proceed forward a few steps and stop. Look
left about 45 degrees. You should see a platform with an L-shaped pipe across
the room from where you are standing. This platform contains a Collectable.

To reach it, shoot out all nearby lights. Turn to look at the door you came
from then send Creeping Dark up the wall to the right of the door. Once on
the wall, turn right and go along the wall to the platform. Go past the
L-shaped pipe to find:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #87]++
     ===============

Retract Creeping Dark and proceed down the stairs to the lower level. If you
explore this area a bit then you will find multiple weapons laying around.
You will also find a couple of undead soldiers just laying around but you
can't get any extra Hearts from them.

At one end of the lower level then you will find a corridor with a large bell
stuck in it. Use Demon Arm to pull it out and place it inside the nook just
to the right of this corridor. Then follow this corridor until you get
outside.

Beyond the concrete stairs is a large foggy, rainy area. You will also see a
pathway leading to the Hills. Unfortunately, there are a lot of German
Soldiers patrolling this area.

To better navigate this area, here is what I am going to do. The stairs where
you are at is *SOUTH*, the Hills are *NORTH*, the area right of the pathway
is *EAST*, and the area on the left of the pathway is *WEST*.

To deal with the German Soldiers it is best to use Creeping Dark. Send
Creeping Dark down the stairs and to the body near it for a Heart. Then
proceed to the *EAST* to find and Devour German Soldiers.

As you roam around the *EAST* area then you should find a ruined house. Go to
this house and to the fireplace within. Here, you will find another
Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #79]++
     ===============

When you are done with the *EAST* area then proceed to the path to find and
Devour German Soldiers. Then proceed to the *WEST* area to find the remainder
of German Soldiers.

Excluding the free Heart near the path there should be a total of twelve
German Soldiers patrolling this area prior to the Hills. If you get all
thirteen Hearts in this area then you should go past 110 Hearts and up
another Darkness Level. Once you clear enough of the German Soldiers out then
proceed up the path.

Every now and then you will get blasted with a lightning strike. If you have
The Darkness manifested then it will automatically de-manifest. Keep it
de-manifested until you reach the end of the path.

When the path ends and the ground begins to slope up then you are at the
Hills. Proceed up slightly and you should see a path to a bunker to your
left. In the trench for this bunker is another Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #80]++
     ===============

You may also see three additional German Soldier in the lower area ahead
shooting at you. But, for some reason, you cannot get any Hearts from them.
You can attack them with Creeping Dark but you cannot Devour Hearts. However,
they will stay down and won't get back up.

Form the Collectable, go back to where you turned off and proceed up to the
top of the hill. Here you should see a large tree. Manifest The Darkness and
it will be revealed to be The Crucified (which is also Death, another of the
Four Horsemen). Go up to The Crucified and Answer the Question.

After answering his question then you will gain another Darkness Power: the
Darkness Guns. And you will also get the:

  >>"Hills" Achievement
    *******************

Outside of Devouring Hearts the Darkness Guns are the only thing that will
permanently take down German Soldiers. After acquiring the Guns then you can
turn around and head back to the Village. However, if you want, you can go
and acquire additional Hearts.

Go just north of The Crucified and you should be on the other side of the
Hills. You should also see another pathway similar to the one you traversed
earlier.

From the top of the hill, send Creeping Dark down and snag a free Heart at
the beginning of the pathway. All in all, there are a total of eight German
Soldiers patrolling the area north of the Hills. So, with the free Heart, you
can get up to nine additional Hearts and acquire maximum Darkness Level that
much sooner.

If you go down into this northern area to explore on foot you will be hit by
lightning flashes which will transport you back to the Hills. After al of
this then go back to where you entered the level and through the tunnel

Proceed through the tunnel and drop down. When you drop down, turn around to
find a Pistol in a small pipe. After knocking out the lights with the Demon
Arm then you can send in Creeping Dark ahead of you.

You will enter a large dual-level room with three German Soldiers inside. You
can use Creeping Dark to Devour them if you are good enough in using this
Darkness Power. Another option is to go in and use the Darkness Guns on the
Soldiers.

After dealing with the three Soldiers, look around. There is a very large
door on one end of this room. You need to empty the water chamber before
proceeding further. You should also blow out every light you encounter with
the Darkness Guns from this point in the level.

Take the nearby stairs upward. As you near the top you will be attacked by
three additional German Soldiers. Use the Darkness Guns on them as you
approach the top. It should be noted that these Soldiers won't appear until
you get near the top so you cannot use Creeping Dark ahead of you to clear
the way.

After Devouring the Soldiers Hearts, look around. You will see a door that
says "Pumpe". From here, turn right and proceed forward to the wall. After
you stop at the wall, turn right. Then send Creeping Dark forward, over the
railing, and down the wall. As you proceed down you will see:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #17]++
     ===============

After obtaining the Collectable then retract Creeping Dark and proceed
through the "Pumpe" door. After going through the second door then you will
enter a room with four pillars.

Here you will be attacked by three German Soldiers. Shoot out the nearby
lights in the short corridor behind you so you can have enough darkness to
use the Darkness Guns on the German Soldiers from the doorway. An alternate
method is to stay outside and use Creeping Dark to ambush and Devour them.

After dealing with all three German Soldiers then go into the room. From the
second door you will see a small set of stairs leading up to your left. After
you climb those stairs then you should see a small hallway leading to a door
with a rounded top. This is one of the two pump rooms. Go inside and Turn
Valve to release some of the water.

From this pump room, go forward to the other side of the larger room then
turn left. Proceed through another hallway and follow the path to the second
pump room. However, the pump has no power and you must find a way to restore
it.

Not far from the pump is the body of a German Soldier. This one is emitting
black smoke which indicates a new Darkness Power. Devouring this Heart will
give you the ability to call up Lightkiller Darklings. And this will also
give you the:

  >>"Darkling Master" Achievement
    *****************************

Now call up a Lightkiller Darkling and point him to the pump. In the process
of blowing out the nearby lights he will also provide power to the pump. Turn
Valve then exit the second pump room.

Now head all the way back down to the water chamber door and Turn Valve. From
here, enter the large pipe. At the first intersection, turn left. Proceed
forward into the next room then turn left to find another Collectable in the
corner:

From here, turn around and go back to the intersection then turn left. Then
proceed forward and climb the ladder ahead of you. Once at the top, turn

You should hear some German Soldiers ahead. Use Creeping Dark to go ahead and
Devour the three Soldiers laying in wait.

Soldiers and up the ladder. When you get to the top of the ladder then turn

Go forward into the small room and to the next door. Here you will enter a
very large room. Look to your right about 45 degrees and find a higher
platform and a series of stairs. You will also find four German Soldiers up
there. From the doorway, use your Darkness Guns to take them down.

But, before you do that, it is recommended to destroy the two nearby lights -
one directly above the doorway and one on the ceiling just inside the room.
Switch to your Pistols, go inside the room, turn around, destroy the light
above the doorway, then go back inside the smaller room.

From inside the smaller room then shoot out the other light then switch to
your Darkness Guns to take down the German Soldiers. After taking down the
German Soldiers then go up to the platform and Devour Hearts. Then take the
stairs leading to the top level.

As you near the top then you will be attacked by another Soldier. Shoot him
and proceed. When you get to the top of the stairs there will be another
German Soldier in one corner of the room. Shoot him down and Devour all
available Hearts.

  **Alternate Method
    ****************
      Stay in the small room and use Creeping Dark from here to Devour them.
      However, you will have to enter the large room to get all of the German
      Soldiers to appear before attacking them. You can also attack the pair
      of Soldiers at the top level from here.

After the last two Soldiers then find the railing for the stairwell. Follow
it to where it bends left and you will find another Collectable on the floor
near the Darkling Portal:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #18]++
     ===============

Keep The Darkness manifested and open the door that leads outside. When you
do then you will hear a loud explosion that will cause damage to you. Go
outside to find a giant train/cannon (War, it is called - another one of the
Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse).

Now, go to the very front of the cannon, to the pointed end, and look at the
cannon. From here, turn 45 degrees left and you should see a giant gate.
Proceed to the gate and, more specifically, to the right side of it. When you
get there then you should see another Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #27]++
     ===============

Turn around and look at the cannon. Go to the rear of the cannon to find and
kill three German Soldiers with the Darkness Guns. Then climb the ladder and
enter the door into the cannon. Inside there are five German Soldiers, all of
them firing at you.

From the doorway, use the Darkness Guns to take down all five of them while
blowing out all nearby lights. Then enter the cannon and Devour Hearts as you
proceed. When you get through the first door then you should see a large
boiler with a red star on it.

Go down to the lower platform and look at the boiler. You should see a
flashing object on the floor under it. This is another Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #68]++
     ===============

Use Creeping Dark to retrieve the Collectable, retract, and proceed through
and up the stairs. Then follow the path and to the door outside.

  **Alternate Method
    ****************
      Go just inside the door to blow out the nearby light then go back
      outside but stay close enough to keep the door open and sidestep left
      to keep from getting shot then use Creeping Dark to Devour all of them
      and obtain the Collectable.

After you get outside then stop and turn right. Go up against the railing to
your left and use Creeping Dark. Proceed up the very slight incline and stop.
To your right is a seam between two large wall plates. Go straight up the
wall along this seam. Continue all the way to the top of the cannon and you
will find another Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #26]++
     ===============

Retract Creeping Dark and proceed along the way until you reach a hatch at
the front of the cannon. Go down the ladder to find the train controls. You
will be warned by an undead German Soldier but ignore him and Start Engine.

Earlier I came here to kill several gang members for extra Hearts. Now I am
returning to Pier 19 because there are some Collectables that only appear at
this stage of the game. There are a couple of others that will only appear
when we get back here later.

Go back to the main Pier 19 area and to the large red crane. There are also
some smaller container crates nearby. Underneath these crates is a
Collectable.

To get to this Collectable you need to move the crates with the Demon Arm.
However, there are two workers nearby who are complaining about the crane
being jammed. They will also mention the "Santa Maria". This may be of some
interest to you.

These guys are also working for Paulie so, after listening to their
conversation, kill them both and Devour their Hearts (thus giving you two
additional Hearts). Then activate Demon Arm to lift some of the crates and
access the Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #93]++
     ===============

It should also be noted that this Collectable can only be obtained here in
Chapter Three.

After obtaining the Collectable then go past the crane to the water's edge
and turn left. Eventually you will encounter a person sitting at the edge
listening to music (and with a Pistol nearby). He is also sitting on another
Collectable.

You can do three things to obtain it. One, is to send in Creeping Dark and
get it from underneath him. Two, is to kick him into the water so you can
pick it up. Three, and the best way, is to use Demon Arm to impale him, move
him over, and drop him on the ground. Devour his Heart (giving you an extra

After obtaining the Collectable then go back and talk to her. If you talk to

She also notes that the older guys are wanting to help but you need to earn

After the loading screen then go up the steps, out the door, turn right, and
stop at the trash bin ahead. Then turn around and you should see an overhang
with two garbage cans underneath. Switch to your Darkness Guns, shoot out
nearby lights, switch to Creeping Dark, and use it to go to the top of the
overhang. Here you will find another Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #69]++
     ===============

De-manifest The Darkness and, from your spot, turn right and follow the path.
It will eventually come to a dead end. There should also be a service
entrance door. Enter it and you will encounter a cranky Abe Hunter. He will
give you the key to Eddie Shrote's apartment and points you to the elevator.

Go into the elevator and head up. Then head to the apartment door on the left
and unlock the door. However, Shrote sees you and makes a run for it.
Although he shoots at you on occasion you won't need weapons for this
section.

Head left and into the kitchen. From here, go left and enter the living room.
On the far wall you will find some Pistols and another Collectable on a
shelf:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #21]++
     ===============

Go back into the kitchen to find two more Pistols on the table. Then follow
the hallway and to the stairs. Eddie will block it with a bookcase. Use the
Pistols to blow out the nearby lights then use Demon Arm to move the
bookcase.

Switch to the Darkness Guns and head up the stairs while blowing out lights.
You will then enter another living room area which is full of weapons. Pick
them up and proceed.

Eventually you will come up to another room with windows. Eddie has locked
the door outside. And you will be attacked by a Police helicopter. Let it see
you so it can shoot then duck into the hallway. Having the Darkness
manifested will help shield you should you get hit by the machine gun.

Then let the helicopter see you again so it can fire rockets. Again, duck
back into the hallway. The rockets will blow a hole in the wall then the
helicopter will fly off. The hole will allow you to go outside. Take the
ladder down when you get outside. Turn around and blow out the light ahead of
you. Proceed forward to the corner, turn left, and you should see:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #71]++
     ===============

Now jump over the ventilation equipment and to the roof below. Then jump onto
the air conditioning equipment and follow the ventilation duct piping around
the building making occasional jumps as you go. Eventually you will get to
another roof.

You should also hear shouts as you reach the roof. Shoot out the light to
your right and, using the air conditioning equipment (which should be to your
left), attack the Cops across the way using the Darkness Guns.

After you have killed the Cops then you need to jump into the window to enter
the building. Devour Hearts and collect weapons then proceed into the hallway
shooting out lights as you go.

You will enter a smaller room with windows that look out into a larger room
with four Cops inside. From this smaller room use the Darkness Guns to kill
the four Cops then enter the room to Devour Hearts and collect weapons.

      If you're really good with using Creeping Dark then you can stay
      outside by the large air conditioner and use it to go inside and kill
      all six Cops before proceeding.

On one side of the room is a gray door with an Exit sign. Take this door, go
up the stairs and to the roof. When you reach the roof then you will see the
Police helicopter taking off. You cannot destroy this helicopter.

Now, from the entrance of the stairwell, turn around and go behind it where
you will find some pallets and another Collectable:

As you are heading back to Fulton Street Station then you will get a page
from Butcher Joyce. When you finally get back to Fulton Street Station then
head to a Phone.

Butcher comes up with the idea of going into the Turkish Baths, where the
Cops keep all kinds of confiscated goods, and obtain a special suitcase. This
will draw Eddie out of hiding so he can get it back. This will give Jackie
the advantage.

Butcher also tells of the key used to enter the City Hall Station which is a
throughway into the Turkish Baths. The key is found in the Mens Room inside
Fulton Street Station.

So, after talking to Butcher Joyce, call the Collectable numbers that you
have acquired then go to the Mens Room and knock down the Out of Order door
to obtain the key. From the Mens Room, head toward the Grinder's Lane Station
steps but go to the left of them. At the end you should see a lighted map, a
gate, and a man standing next to it.

His name is Mitch Deval and he needs your help in finding his brother. Agree
to help him:

  >>Side-Quest: Mitch Deval (Start)
    *******************************
      He needs you to find his brother who may be somewhere in the City Hall
      Station area. Then come back to him with information.

From here, open the locked gate and follow the path. You should see a metal
railing to your left which ends just as the path begins to curve right.
Continue following the path until you reach the tracks.

But, instead of going forward and to City Hall Station, go onto the tracks
back and follow them back. Just before you get back to the metal railing, at
which point the track curve will end, then stop (you should also hear the
Darkness proclaim "wrong way").

Turn around and look down and you should see the tracks curve. But you will
also see a straight section of track. Follow this straight section and it
will lead you into a very dark area. Unfortunately, you cannot manifest The
Darkness which would have helped you to see better in the dark.

However, this only makes it easier to see the flashing Collectible laying on

When you enter this section then you will proceed along the tracks until you
reach a subway car. There should be a set of stairs leading up near the car.
However, go inside the car to find a glass case. This case houses a Darkling
Outfit:

  >>Darkling Outfit #3 - Roadworker Outfit
    **************************************

And near the glass case is another Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #22]++
     ===============

Now exit the car and head up the nearby stairs. You should enter a room with
two homeless people, one of them being Emerson Darke. They will tell you
about the Turkish Baths being closed up because of Shrote. Proceed into the
nearby passageway and you will be warned about Deval's people.

After you get just around the corner, and not seen by the homeless couple,
then activate your Darkness Guns and shoot out the nearby light. Then switch
to Creeping Dark and send it around the next corner.

Here you will encounter two homeless people. However, they are armed with
Knives. Devour them and proceed forward and around the next corner. Next, you
will enter a larger room. Two more attackers await. Devour them and continue
down the passageway to the next corner.

Around the corner is where you will find another attacker. Devour him
and proceed around the corner. Continue forward through the large room and
into the next passageway. Look to your left and you should see a door with an
upside down star on it. Send Creeping Dark through the door and you will set
off a trap.

Continue around the corner and down the stairs to set off another trap then
go right at the next corner. As you continue around the next corner then you
will set off another trap. Proceed down the long passageway and you find a
pool of water at the bottom of the stairs in the middle of the passageway.
This pool is electrified.

Send Creeping Dark along the wall to your left and proceed to the other side
of the pool area where you will find a couple of wires sticking out of the
wall. Attack these wires to de-activate and proceed forward around the next
corner.

As you proceed then you will set off another trap. At this point you may
exhaust your Darkness Energy and Creeping Dark will automatically retract.
Once retracted then proceed through the passageways and through the upside
down star door. Go down the stairs and to where you activated the second
trap.

Ahead of you should be a pipe. Just behind it, in the corner and on a
grating, is another Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #72]++
     ===============

Now, proceed through the passageways, past the pool of water, and stop just
as you get around the corner. Send Creeping Dark ahead of you.

After you go down a short set of stairs then go right and you should see a
door with an upside down star on it. You should also hear a voice. This voice
belongs to Ernie Deval, brother to Mitch Deval, the person you met at Fulton
Street Station.

Unfortunately, Ernie is a Satan worshipper and is a bit unbalanced. He is
also the leader of the attackers you dealt with earlier. Creep up the door
and attack the vent above it. Creep inside the room and go left. You should
see a padlocked gate. There are several padlocks on it. Attack them to get
the gate to open.

However, after opening the gate, Ernie will attack. In addition, Creeping
Dark will get stuck after opening the gate so you will have to retract and
try again. Send Creeping Dark in again and attack the lock on the door
leading in to the room where Ernie is. Ernie will try to leave the room to
attack you.

Attack him to end his threat. And when you Devour his Heart then you will get
the last Darkness Power: Black Hole. And, in the process, you will earn the:

  >>"Crazy for You" Achievement
    ***************************

Now, enter the room where Ernie was at. Jump up to the upper level through
the gate you opened. In a corner next to the left side of the stairs leading
up is:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #81]++
     ===============

At the top of the stairs is a gate that doesn't appear to have any obvious
ways of opening it. This is where your newly acquired Black Hole power comes
in handy. Shoot out all nearby lights, look at the gate, and activate Black
Hole. The gate should open about halfway up. This is enough to get through.

When you get through the gate then head down the passageway and to a set of
stairs going down. Stop at the top of the stairs and send Creeping Dark down
and around the corner to Devour two more of Deval's followers. Then retract
and continue forward.

As you turn the next corner then you will see a chain-link fence to your
left. Just beyond that is an opening. Look down and you should see some
scaffolding. Jump down to the scaffolding. Look at the wall across from your
and then look to your right about 45 degrees.

On top of the light is another Collectable. Jump on the pipes ahead of you
then walk over to collect it:

From the start, proceed up the stairs shooting out the lights as you go. At
the top of the stairs then you will enter a larger room.

At the end of the room, and inside the next passageway, is a blockade of
various objects. Use Demon Arm and pull the metal barrel away from the
blockade and drop it in the larger room. Then use Black Hole which will
destroy the rest of the blockade.

Go through the now unblocked passageway to a junction. You will see a door to
your left and one to your right. Go through the left one. Proceed through the
large room to the end and turn right. You should go through a doorway and see
a locked gate across from you. From here, look right and you should see a
small area. In this small area is:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #74]++
     ===============

Now go back to the junction and through the other door. Go to the end of the
large room and you should see a bricked up area. Use either Demon Arm, Black
Hole, or the Darkness Guns to destroy it.

Go through the opening and up the stairs. Partway up you should find a bunch
of weapons. At the top of the stairs is a door. When you open the door then
you will enter the baths themselves.

Unfortunately, you will also find Cops here and trigger an alarm alerting
them to your presence. From the doorway, use the Black Hole on the two Cops
ahead of you. When you replenish your Darkness Powers, use the Black Hole on
the Cop across and on the upper level.

Proceed partway into the large bath room and you will be attacked by another
Cop on the upper level. Use the Black Hole on him.

Go into the large room and Devour the Hearts of the two dead Cops. If you've
collected every Heart up to this point, including all of the extra ones, then
you should have 180 Hearts and reached maximum Darkness Level. This will also
get you the:

  >>"One with the Dark" Achievement
    *******************************

Now, you just need 120 more Hearts to get the "Cannibal" Achievement. But PS3
owners do not have to worry about obtaining any more Hearts unless you use
Creeping Dark to explore and attack people.

On one side of this room are two sets of scaffolding - one large and one
small. Use Creeping Dark to get to the top of the small scaffolding to
acquire:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #75]++
     ===============

After acquiring these two Hearts then proceed through the next passageway
into a rounded room. There are more Cops here. Use the Black Hole on them,
Devour Hearts, and proceed to the next passageway which is partially blocked.
Use Black Hole on it to clear it and get rid of a nearby Cop.

Use the Darkness Guns on the Cops that you encounter in the hallway leading
up to the upper level. Then use Black Hole on the Cops on the other side of
the room and Devour the Heart of the Cop you killed earlier when you were
down below.

On one side of the room is a large gap and a board that serves as a bridge to
the other side. Cross it and proceed to the next passageway. This passageway
leads to the changing rooms. There are three more Cops inside. Use the Black
Hole on them and proceed inside the room. There is a door in the middle but I
won't take that yet.

Turn right and you should see another door. This door goes into a short
hallway that leads to the showers. Use Creeping Dark and send it inside.
Devour the Cop inside the showers and open the door behind him that enters
into the sauna. Just inside to the right of the door is:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #25]++
     ===============

After obtaining the Collectable then go back and enter the other door.
Partway through the hallway you will encounter another Cop. Devour him and
proceed. When you turn the corner then you will find a door. This is the
evidence room where the briefcase is. But don't go through it yet.

When you get near the door then go right then left. At the end, by the door,
is another Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #82]++
     ===============

From this Collectable, send Creeping Dark around the corner and through the
evidence room door. Devour the two Cops inside then retract.

After that then look around and you should see a chain-link fence in one
corner of the room. Send Creeping Dark to this part of the room. When you get
to the gate for the chain-link fence area then you will get a prompt to
obtain the following Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #24]++
     ===============

Next, retract Creeping Dark and go into the evidence room to obtain the
briefcase (and a bunch of weapons). Then go out the way you came in.

But, when you get near the large baths room, then you will be attacked by
SWAT. One will rappel in front of you. Use the Darkness Guns on him and then
on the two SWAT across the room.

Proceed to the railing and you should see a Police helicopter overhead. It
will fire on your as you try to get across the room. However, if you aim
yourself near the front of the chopper and use Black Hole then you can bring
it down and earn the:

  >>"Anti Air" Achievement

After that then head back to the plank that leads back to the other side of
the room. When you get to the other side then you will be ambushed by more
SWAT. Find and Devour them for more Hearts. Then head back to the door
leading out. Right behind it is a SWAT behind a Riot Shield. Black

When you get down to the large room again there will be two SWAT at the end.

From the restrooms you should see a set of stairs leading into a larger room.
However, there are a number of SWAT ready to ambush you. Go near the base of

After that then retract Creeping Dark and use the Black Hole from the hallway

that emerge from the door and on the lower area behind the door. Don't go

From here, proceed through the door and then turn right at the bottom of the

Devour Hearts and proceed around the corner.

After turning the corner then you will encounter two more SWAT in the room
where you first encountered Emerson Darke and his friend. Do the same to them
and go down the stairs back to the tracks.

However, just as you get to the top of the stairs then more SWAT will appear
at the bottom. Stay at the top of the stairs and use Black Hole at the bottom
to kill the three SWAT waiting for you.

After clearing out the SWAT then go onto the tracks and head out of City Hall
Station. As you get to the scaffolding then you will be attacked by five SWAT
who'll be at the end of the tunnel.

Go into the Church. Once inside the cathedral itself then you will be
instructed by Capt. Shrote to place the briefcase on the altar. After you
place the briefcase on the altar then Capt. Shrote will turn off the lights
and send in his SWAT force to deal with you.

The best place to be is at the opposite side of the altar. Kneel down, switch
to the Tactical Rifle, and manifest The Darkness. By kneeling down behind the
altar then you will make yourself harder to hit when the SWAT start shooting
and you will have use of the Darkness Shield.

In addition, you will be standing on top of a Darkling Portal. If you wish
then you can send out a Berzerker and a Kamikaze Darkling to attack the
Police when they appear and send out more when they are are killed. This is a
good way to add toward the "Legendary Summoner" Achievement if you wish to

Use the Tactical Rifle on the SWAT at the other end of the cathedral. Kill
all but one then send out Creeping Dark to Devour the Hearts of the four dead

After awhile Capt. Shrote will turn on some large floodlights to make it

Leave the one at the other end alone. Kill the closest SWAT at each side then
two more will rappel down to ground level. Use the Tactical Rifle on them
then two more will rappel down. Kill them then send out Creeping Dark to
Devour their Hearts.

If you thought about using Creeping Dark to go up to the upper level and
Devour the dead Cops for extra Hearts, don't bother. The moment it gets up
there then it will automatically retract.

However, that doesn't mean that you can't get the Hearts of the dead Cops up
there. Thanks to a glitch you can creep along the underside of the floor and
Devour the Hearts from below. Go up under one side then get Creeping Dark to
crawl on the underside of the floor and move around until you get the prompt.
Do the same to the other side.

After acquiring all of the available Hearts, which should put you at about
240 for the game so far, then go back to the altar and kill the last SWAT.
When you do that then Capt. Shrote will throw some flash-bang grenades to
knock you out. When you wake up then you will come face-to-face with.....

Here you will face Capt. Shrote who will then torture you for awhile. Then
one of his cronies will laugh at the mention of "Mother of God" and Capt.
Shrote will threaten him.

After drilling into your face for a few seconds then the drill breaks. Then
Capt. Shrote will go to the other end of the cathedral to fix it. At this
point you will be given several choices on how to talk to Shrote's cronies.

Each time they talk to you they will block the light and allow The Darkness
to get stronger. It doesn't matter what order you do the choices. The last
choice will allow you to use the Demon Arm.

Use the Demon Arm and it will hit the briefcase. This causes the bomb to
explode, killing Capt. Shrote, his cronies, and you.....again.

At this point, fire the cannon. But there is no shell. So now Jackie must go
and find one. Exit the cannon and go down to ground level. When you finish
climbing down the ladder then you should be looking at it.

Now sidestep left and you should see the railing for the stairs behind the
ladder. Beyond it is a crawl-space for the concrete walkway and ramp next to
the cannon. Inside this crawl-space is a Collectable. Use Creeping Dark to
obtain it:

     ===============

     ===============

Now switch to the Darkness Guns and proceed to the area at the rear of the
cannon. Go past the rocks and you will find a path down.

However, you will have to fight several German Soldiers as you go on this
path. Use the Darkness Guns on them as you proceed and shoot out the lamps as
you go. Don't forget to Devour Hearts to get closer to the "Cannibal"
Achievement.

Eventually you will get to the large wall you got past in the cannon. Take
down the four German Soldiers, Devour Hearts, and then proceed through the

Here you will find Anthony again who is currently prepping a tank. You need
to climb onto the tank and use the guns. Anthony will drive.

This part of the game is essentially a rail shooter. You have no control over
where you go, just where you shoot. Every now and then Anthony will point out
where enemy planes will appear.

Shooting down enemy planes is a requirement for another Achievement:

  >>"Take a Look at the Sky" Achievement
    ************************************
      You need to shoot down six airplanes but this isn't very hard to do.
      This is easier if you have the subtitles on since it will make it
      easier to aim your guns in the proper direction before the planes show
      up. Just keep your finger on the trigger and you should be able to get
      this Achievement easily.

In addition to shooting at planes you also have to contend with German
Soldiers, tanks, and pillboxes. Just shoot at the tanks for a few seconds to
blow them up and shoot into the windows of the pillboxes to kill the German
Soldiers inside.

Eventually you will end up at a large bunker and crash inside. The tank is on
its side and you can't get out. Anthony will go to get something to help you.
But he is then attacked by a creature you can't see. He goads it into
attacking him instead of Jackie. However, the creature gets the best of
Anthony and sends him flying.

Then this large creature, called the Shlogg, grabs the tank and lifts it up.
Now you must defend yourself from this creature. Use the guns to shoot at its
ugly face. Every now and then the Shlogg will smack the tank into something
in an attempt to hurt you but keep on shooting.

After about a minute of shooting then you should finally bring down the
Shlogg and end the threat. When you are finished then you will be free of the
tank. The dead Shlogg should be ahead of you. To the left of the dead Shlogg
is a door. Enter the door and turn right to find another Collectable on the
floor:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #83]++

Now exit the room and go past the dead Shlogg. You will find Anthony on the
ground, mortally wounded.

Anthony will talk about The Darkness. He finally figured something out about
The Darkness. It concerns the "light within the Darkness". But, before he can
tell Jackie, The Darkness intervenes and pulls Anthony down into the ground
(don't fall into the hole yourself otherwise you will die).

Just past where Anthony was is a corridor. Follow it to a door. Once through
the door, go left and then enter another door nearby. Go through the hallway
and turn right after you go through another doorway.

Continue forward and through another door. Turn right and proceed forward
through another door. Here you should see a set of stairs. Climb the stairs

Just before you go through the door, switch to the Darkness Guns and shoot
out the light ahead. When you go through the door then you will find a shell
cart. You will also find some walkways above. However, there are two German
Soldiers on the walkways. Use the Darkness Guns on them then Devour their
Hearts.

After that is done then head up the stairs to get on the above walkway. When
you get to the junction, turn right. At the end of the walkway is another
Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #31]++
     ===============

After obtaining the Collectable then turn around and go to the other end of
the walkway. Here you will find the lever that opens the large door so you
leave with the shell. After opening the door then go back down and climb the
ladder on the shell cart. Then press Start Engine to begin.

The shell cart will go along some tracks but this is much shorter than the
tank section you did earlier. You also have the use of a gun but that isn't
of much use here.

Near the end, as you approach the cannon, you will be besieged by six German
Soldiers. When you are allowed to leave the shell cart, go down and head to
the end of the concrete bunker at the rear of the train. Take down the two
German Soldiers nearby with the Darkness Guns as you go behind the concrete
bunker.

Two more German Soldiers will approach your position. Peek around the
concrete bunker and pick them off as they come to you. One more German
Soldier will be on the walkway above. Take him down and head near the front
of the cannon. Take down the last German Soldier here and Devour all Hearts
before climbing up the ladder to get back into the cannon.

Once you get back to the control room then fire the cannon to put a large
hole in the castle entrance. Exit the control room, climb down and head to
the castle.

Just before you get to the wooden bridge then you should see two large
pointed objects with lights to either side of the path. Look to your left and
you should see a Collectable sitting at the base of one of these lights:

Now go to one end of this room to find what appears to be the remains of a
torso head in place with some bars. But just beyond it is a bright light. If
you look closely it looks like Jenny Romano is inside.

Look to your left and you should find a body with its arms at its sides. Go
up to it and Surrender Darkness Guns (and pick up a Rifle). This will take
away one of your powers and adds to the torso. This also pisses off The
Darkness.

Now turn around and go across to another machine. This is an Extraction
Machine. Activate it to take away your Black Hole power and add more to the
torso.

Now head to another Extraction Machine to the right of your position and pick

I am going to start with the Side-Quests here at Fulton Street Station first.
To start, head down the corridor that goes between the two sets of stairs
leading to the St. Mary's Orphanage Station. On one of the benches you will
find an old lady slumped over asleep.

This is Rosie Hazelgrove. This is the woman you were requested to talk to by
Charlie Hazelgrove who you met in the Village in your second trip to
Otherworld:

      Awaken her and give her the bracelet and message. And in return she
      gives you a Collectable:

           ===============
        ++[Collectable #49]++
           ===============

Go to the Mens Room and you will find a gentleman by the corner. He is
'Little Petey' Terrone and this will start his:

  >>Side-Quest: 'Little Petey' Terrone (Start)
    ******************************************
      He wants you to go and deliver a message for Mickey Famiano who is
      arriving at Canal Street Station. He wears a red hat so that will make
      it easier to spot.

Now find Vinny Mortarello who is patrolling around where you found Rosie
Hazelgrove. He is upset that Paulie has replaced the regular "earners" within
the family with some thugs from the West Coast. He wants Jackie to take these
Goons down.

It should be noted that this is a five part Side-Quest and I am going to
combine them with other Side-Quests to minimize travel:

  >>Side-Quest: Vinny Mortarello [Part 1]
    *************************************
      You need to kill a Goon tailing Aunt Sarah. He will probably be near
      her house on the Lower East Side.

When you get this Side-Quest started then take a train to Canal Street
Station.

When you get off the train then go straight ahead to the next set of tracks
and turn left. You should see a man with a red hat standing by a machine. He
is Mickey Famiano. Talk to him to deliver the message from Little Petey:

  >>Side-Quest: 'Little Petey' Terrone (End)
    ****************************************
      Give Mickey the message and in return he will give you the following
      Collectable:

           ===============
        ++[Collectable #50]++
           ===============

Continue forward from Little Petey and you will see a woman sitting on a
bench. She is Dana Cutrone. She complains about her boyfriend stealing her
apartment in Chinatown. Agree to help her get it back:

  >>Side-Quest: Dana Cutrone (Start)
    ********************************
      You need to talk to her boyfriend in Chinatown so you can get Dana's
      apartment back for her.

Now turn around and head up the stairs leading up to the Chinatown Station.
You will find George Hadel who you didi a Side-Quest earlier in the game. But
he is on the ground in pain. As you approach then he gets back up.

He tells you that Compton Scarr has beaten him up and stolen his harmonica.
Help him again:

  >>Side-Quest: George Hadel [Part 2] (Start)
    *****************************************
      You need to recover his harmonica from Compton Scarr. George says that
      Compton has gone to the Lower East Side.

From here, turn around and head to the Lower East Side Station. Along the way
you will encounter Jimmy the Grape. He tells you about the Cops capturing
Petey "Pajamas". Petey is real weak and Jimmy fears that he will spill his
guts about the family:

  >>Side-Quest: Jimmy the Grape (Start)
    ***********************************
      Jackie asks about where he is but all Jimmy can give him is a room
      number: 261.

Now head back to the stairs heading up to the Lower East Side/Trinity
Cemetery stations but sidestep right and get closer to one of the set of
tracks. Go past the stairs, which should be to your left, and you should see
a black man sitting on a box.

As you approach him then he will stand up and give you some smack. Talk to
him to start:

  >>Side-Quest: Terrence Willis (Start)
    ***********************************
      He wants you to get rid of a gang near the Whitefish Pool Hall.

Now turn around and go up the nearby step. You can go to either Trinity
Cemetery or Lower East Side but turn left and head to the Trinity Cemetery
Station instead. You will encounter Enzo Scardina again. He will tell of
Frankie Tieri who is about to run a couple of kilos of drugs for Paulie
through town:

  >>Side-Quest: Enzo Scardina (Start)
    *********************************
      Enzo will give you a duplicate suitcase to use in a switch when Frankie
      stops at Fulton Street Station. Then bring the suitcase back to Enzo.

From here, head up the stairs leading to Trinity Cemetery. When you get to
the cemetery gates you find that they are blocked off and Frank Rottenberg
standing outside. He is upset that he has been thrown out but he is more
worried about the Insulin he was forced to leave behind:

  >>Side-Quest: Frank Rottenberg
    ****************************
      Go back around the corner so he can't see you. Blow out some of the
      nearby lights with the Darkness Guns then switch to Creeping Dark and
      use it to go over the wall and into the bathroom where you met Frank
      earlier in the game.

      Near the sinks is a set of drawers. The Insulin is on top of them. Once
      you acquire it, retract Creeping Dark, de-manifest The Darkness, and
      give the Insulin to Frank.

      And in return he gives you a trinket that, at this time, has no
      particular use.

Now head back down into the subway and toward the Lower East Side. While
still at the bottom of the Subway stairs at the Lower East Side, use Demon
Arm to smash the nearby lights then switch to Creeping Dark. Send it up and
towards Aunt Sarah's place.

Nearby you should see a singular person with an orange jumpsuit. This is
Vinny's first target. Devour him. If you stand still after the attack then
you will hear his backup trying to contact him. This will also complete Part
1 of Vinny's Side-Quest.

Retract Creeping Dark and move to a spot between the Mailbox across the
street from Aunt Sarah's place and the Telephone Booth. You should see the
backup arrive and stop partway up the street.

Use Creeping Dark to Devour the four Goons then retract and de-manifest.
Switch to Demon Arm. Then post the letters you got from your last trip to
Otherworld in the nearby Mailbox. This will unlock more Collectables.

Now head up Thompson St. and turn left at Clark St. As you proceed up Clark
St. a person will emerge from the Bass St. alley. He will then try to attack
you. Activate Darkness Power to hit him with the Demon Arm before he can do
anything. Devour his Heart and proceed onto Bass St.

If you didn't get Collectable #7 from your previous two trips here then get
it now from the nearby telephone booth.

Climb the ladder then jump down into Whitefish Alley. Blow out some lights
with the Darkness Guns and refill your Darkness meter. Switch to Black Hole,
de-manifest the Darkness, and disarm. Stay close to the wall to your left and
proceed to the Whitefish Pool Hall.

When you get there then you should hear some music. Go behind the container
crates to find the gang that Terrence told you about. Since you are disarmed
they won't do anything. One of them may be going back and forth along the
side of the container crates.

Stand near the top of the stairs leading down into the Pool Hall and look at
the gang. Wait for the patrolling member to get close then Activate Darkness
Power to create a Black Hole in the middle of the gang which will also pull
the patrolling one inside.

When the Black Hole runs out then you will also complete Terrence's task and
earn the:

  >>"Bringing People Together" Achievement
    **************************************

After this then go up to the dead gang, Devour Hearts, switch to Creeping
Dark, and send it out into Waterfront St.

Halfway down you should find three Goons. This is Compton Scarr and his gang.
Devour them then retract Creeping Dark. Go up to the dead gang and pick up
the Harmonica. This will complete the main task for George. Now head back
down to the Canal Street Station and back to Terrence:

  >>Side-Quest: Terrence Willis (End)

      He is pleased about your work and tells you that he can help you with
      the Cups Hustler nearby. He also gives you:

           ===============
        ++[Collectable #47]++
           ===============

Walk close to Terrence and he will tell you to distract the Hustler and mark
the cup. After obtaining that piece of advice then walk past him and go
around the corner. Here you should see the Cups Hustler, Lucas Hellinger.

When he finishes talking and you get to do an action then select Distract
Him. Then wait for him to stop talking and then Accept. He will then do his
little game. Select the cup with the mark and Lucas will give you the
following Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #46]++
     ===============

Now take the train going back to Fulton Street Station. Return to Vinny
Mortarello and he will give you your next assignment:

  >>Side-Quest: Vinny Mortarello [Part 2]
    *************************************
      Your next target is keeping an eye on things for Paulie. He can be
      found at Grinder's Lane.

Near the base of the stairs leading up to the St. Mary's Orphanage station
you should see a man standing near an Information Machine. This is Frankie
Tieri, Enzo Scardina's target. His briefcase is sitting on the ground near
him. Get near the briefcase and pull the switch. After that then head up to
Grinder's Lane.

When you get up the Subway steps then turn right. The gate that was there
when you were earlier in the game is now open. Go forward through the gate
and until you reach a pair of trash bins. Switch to Demon Arm and move the
left trash bin to expose the following Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #61]++
     ===============

Now head to the corner of the Grinder's Lane Abattoir. Use Creeping Dark and
go around the corner. There should be a Police Car and five Goons nearby.
Devour the Goons and you will complete Part 2 of Vinny's Side-Quest.

Now turn left and you should see a parking space for a single car. To the
left is a set of stairs. This leads inside the Grinder's Lane Luxury
Apartments.

Knock out the nearby lights and send Creeping Dark inside. Go along the
hallway and you should see a pair of Cops. Devour them then retract Creeping
Dark. Switch to your Darkness Guns and go inside Grinder's Lane Luxury
Apartments. Shoot out the lights as you go.

When you get to the dead Cops, look at the nearby doors. One of the should
say 261. This is where Petey "Pajamas" is located.

Unlock the door and take down the two Cops inside with the Darkness Guns.
Then head into the kitchen and kill Petey "Pajamas". Take the witness
protection list and turn around. On the opposite wall is a Glass Case. Inside
the Glass Case is another Darkling Outfit:

  >>Darkling Outfit #4 - Fireman Outfit
    ***********************************

Now head back to Fulton Street Station and to Vinny. He will then give you
your next assignment:

  >>Side-Quest: Vinny Mortarello [Part 3]
    *************************************
      You need to kill the leader of a gang at the Lower East Side. He also
      likes to keep people awake with is music.

After that then head back to Canal Street Station. Find Jimmy the Grape and
talk to him:

  >>Side-Quest: Jimmy the Grape (End)
    *********************************
      He is pleased with your work but doesn't give you anything in return.

From here, head up to the Trinity Cemetery Station and put down the Suitcase
near Enzo Scardina:

  >>Side-Quest: Enzo Scardina (End)
    *******************************
      In return for completing this task then he will give you the following
      Collectable:

           ===============
        ++[Collectable #51]++
           ===============

After this then head to Lower East Side. While at the bottom of the stairs,
use Demon Arm to knock out the nearby lights then switch to Creeping Dark.
Send it up the stairs and head around to the dead end area near Aunt Sarah's
house.

Here you will see a vehicle with a loud sound system. Go around the back of
the vehicle so you can sneak up on the four Goons. Devour them then retract.
This will complete Part 3 of Vinny's Side-Quest. As an option you can go up
and shoot the sound system to turn it off.

Now head back to Canal Street Station and take a train to Fulton Street
Station. Return to Vinny to get your next assignment:

  >>Side-Quest: Vinny Mortarello [Part 4]
    *************************************
      You need to kill a Goon at Chinatown who is selling drugs to kids at
      Orchid and Plum.

After this then take a train back to Canal Street Station. Head up the stairs
leading to Chinatown Station to meet with George:

  >>Side-Quest: George Hadel [Part 2] (End)
    ***************************************
      Giving him back his Harmonica will get you the following Collectable:

           ===============
        ++[Collectable #45]++
           ===============

Now go up into Chinatown. Stay at the bottom of the stairs and knock out the
lights with Demon Arm then switch to Creeping Dark. Then send it up to ground
level. Continue forward and turn left at the glass case where you got a
Darkling Outfit.

There may be an additional Goon nearby the glass case. Devour him and proceed
into the nearby alley by the case.

When you turn right around the corner then you will encounter your target.
Devour him then retract Creeping Dark and de-manifest. This will complete
Part 4 of Vinny's Side-Quest.

Now go up the stairs and head to the intersection of Orchid and Plum. Head
north and into the Mulberry Alley. Continue until you reach a small
chain-link fence which should be to your right. Stop at the end of the fence
and turn right.

You should see a door. Go through the door to enter a hallway. Turn left at
the corner and head to the door at the end. Knock on the door to confront
Joey Skelton, Dana's boyfriend. Once the door opens then enter the apartment
and to the corner to find a Glass Case that houses a Darkling Outfit:

  >>Darkling Outfit #5 - Lumberjack Outfit
    **************************************

Now turn left and you find another Collectable in the corner:

     ==============
  ++[Collectable #4]++
     ==============

Then confront Joey and take the keys from him. After this then head back to
Canal Street Station and to Dana Cutrone to complete her Side-Quest:

      She is pleased with your efforts and gives you the following
      Collectable:

           ===============
        ++[Collectable #40]++
           ===============

Now take a train back to Fulton Street Station and talk to Vinny again to get
your last assignment:

  >>Side-Quest: Vinny Mortarello [Part 5]
    *************************************
      You need to kill a Goon at Gun Hill who is keeping an eye on Shrote
      (even though he is dead at this point).

Go to Gun Hill and proceed to the back door of the apartments where you
confronted Shrote earlier in the game. As you turn the corner leading to the
back door, stop. Look up and you should see a light. To the right of the
light is an air conditioner.

To the left of the air conditioner is an open window. Knock out this light
with the Demon Arm (do *NOT* use the Darkness Guns or you may bring out Abe
who will confront you). Then send Creeping Dark up into this open window.
Inside the room is your target.

Devour him to complete Part 5 of Vinny's Side-Quest. After killing him then
look on the wall near the video equipment. On the wall is a Glass Case that
houses the last Darkling Outfit:

  >>Darkling Outfit #6 - Construction Outfit
    ****************************************

And acquiring this outfit will also get you the:

  >>"Fashionable" Achievement
    *************************

Retract Creeping Dark, de-manifest, and head back to Fulton Street Station to
talk to Vinny:

  >>Side-Quest: Vinny Mortarello (End)

      He is very pleased with your work and will give you the following
      Collectable:

           ===============
        ++[Collectable #43]++
           ===============

After this then take a train back to Canal Street Station. Then head back up
to Chinatown Station. Not far from the active television you should see a man
with a white sweater leaning up against the wall. He is Alfred Blackmoore.

He complains about a woman who is way behind on her rent. He is reluctant to
throw her out because she is a friend of Jackie. That woman is Dana Cutrone
who you helped out earlier. Agree to help him:

  >>Side-Quest: Alfred Blackmoore
    *****************************
      You now have to evict evict Dana Cutrone from her apartment. Go back
      into Chinatown and to the apartment where you confronted Joey Skelton
      earlier. Take the keys from Dana then return to Alfred to complete this
      task. And in return he will give you the following Collectable:

           ===============
        ++[Collectable #52]++
           ===============

This also completes the last Side-Quest of the game and you will finally earn
the:

When I was here earlier doing a Side-Quest for Vinny I stopped at the corner
near the Abattoir. I am going to stop here again and send Creeping Dark
around the corner.

Devour the three Goons by the cars then enter the door at the far end. When
you get to the end of the long hallway, a Goon will emerge from the door at
the end. Devour him and then go through the door to the Break Room.

Devour the Goon within and then proceed through the smaller room and into the
large room with the tables. Devour the single Goon there then retract
Creeping Dark.

Enter the building and make your way to the large room. Switch to your
Darkness Guns and blow out the lights. Two Goons will enter through the side
door and two more will enter from the door at the end of the room. Use the
Darkness Guns to kill them then Devour Hearts and proceed through the side
door.

Enter the Workshop door, where you got the Gasoline the first time you were
here, and use the radio and Call In The Ship. Then leave the room. But you
will be approached by a car with more Goons. Go back near the Workshop door
and take them down with the Darkness Guns.

      Another option is to head back the way you came. When you get to the

If you have acquired every Heart you have found up to this point then this is

When the screen finishes loading up then you will hear some Goons talking
nearby. From your position use Creeping Dark and Devour the three of them.

Just ahead of them is a covered walkway near the top of the warehouses. There
is a Goon there. If you're good at using Creeping Dark then just send it up
there and Devour him. Or you can use the Darkness Guns to kill him then send
Creeping Dark to Devour his Heart.

Now head toward the crane area and you will see a lot of container crates.
Stay near the back of the crates and pick off the lights with the Darkness
Guns. Then send in Creeping Dark. As you climb on the catwalk you will see a
door ahead of you. Go to the left of the door, climb up the wall, under the
walkway, and back above the railing.

Head to the stairs to your left Devouring any Goon you come across as
you make your way to the Captain. Continue along the hallways and stairs,
Devouring Goons, until you reach the Captain's office. Once you kill him then
you have completed your objective.

If you don't want to use Creeping Dark, then go on the ship and use Darkness
Guns on the Goons as you go up on the ship.

After you kill the Captain then it is time to go and get the Collectables
that are exclusive to this area. When you go onto the catwalk leading onto
the ship you will see a door ahead of you. Go through the door and, at one
side of the room, you will see a set of stairs going down.

Go down the stairs until you reach a larger room. Down below where you
entered will be two Goons. Kill them then go down. Go through the gap in the
container crates then turn right and go through the next gap in the next row
of container crates.

After you have done that, turn around and send Creeping Dark up the container
crates and to an open area just above the gap you went through. Here you will
find a Collectable:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #86]++
     ===============

Go back the way you came. Kill the Goon that is waiting for you on the upper
level in the larger room, climb up, and head to the main deck. When you get
back outside, turn right and head to the front of the ship. You will
encounter another Goon as you approach the stairs.

Kill him then proceed down and under the stairs. Here you will find the last
Collectable in the game:

     ===============
  ++[Collectable #94]++
     ===============

Now, leave the ship. As you do so you will get a urgent message from Aunt
Sarah. They are under attack from Paulie's men. You need to get there ASAP.

When you get off of the ship, head to the red crane and stop. Send Creeping
Dark ahead and to the container crates. There are three Goons at ground level
and another Goon on a walkway on one of the buildings nearby. Devour them
then retract.

  **NOTE: If you used Creeping Dark to kill the Captain and you did not go
          onto the ship then you won't have to deal with these guys.

From here then head to the corner leading back to then entrance of Pier 19.
Near where you found the first three Goons there are four more standing
behind cars. Run up to the large metal conduit box, for cover, and use Black
Hole on the four of them. Another option is to stay around the corner and use
Creeping Dark and Devour all of them.

After they are all killed, de-manifest the Darkness but keep your Pistols
out, Devour Hearts, and head back to.....

Head to the intersection and turn left at Clark St. Head down the street and
you will see a car sticking out from the Bass St. alley. Near the car is a
couple of Goons. Go around the corner and take them down with the Pistols.

From there, proceed down the street and take down the two Goons at the
corner. Go around the corner and head to Aunt Sarah's house. There will be
Goons nearby firing at the house. Kill all of the Goons with the Pistols.

  **Alternate Method
    ****************
      Stop around the corner just before Bass St. and use Creeping Dark to
      take down all of the Goons before entering Aunt Sarah's apartment.

When the area is cleared, proceed inside the apartment. Jimmy the Grape then
will push down a bookcase for cover and in the process will trap you in the
house.

If you go inside the bedroom then you will see an old man, with most of his
limbs missing, loading up weapons. You can stock up on weapons, if you need
to, with him.

Shortly after you enter the house then more Goons will show up in cars. They
will appear in the Olive Grove Restaurant parking lot, near the Subway
entrance, and just in front of the house.

You cannot use The Darkness here. You must use standard weapons. Switch to
your Tactical Rifle, shoot out of the windows and go for headshots to make
quick kills. If you take too much damage then back away and head to the
bedroom until you recover.

Once most of the Goons are eliminated then some more will appear from the
Subway entrance and from the dead-end area. After they are killed off then
you will automatically disarm.

Butcher Joyce will drive up then enter the house and move the bookcase. He
remarks that the Chicago Families will be grateful that you protected Aunt
Sarah. But Paulie has really crossed the line with this attack and that the
Chicago Families will take him down.

Then Butcher Joyce will tell you where he thinks Paulie is hiding. Paulie is
hiding at an old lighthouse he is renovating hoping that Jackie doesn't find
him.

At this point, you will be offered the position of the Don by Jimmy the
Grape. It doesn't matter what answer you give but I always go for the
positive answer.

Then Butcher Joyce will tell you there is a boat waiting for him at Pier 19
that will take him to the Lighthouse. From this point, leave the house and
pick up the weapons the dead Goons dropped. But, before I go to Pier 19, I am
going back down into the Subway and find a Phone.

Call the Collectable numbers one more time and you should unlock the last of
the Extra Content. And you will finally get the:

After that then head back out into Lower East Side then to the Pier 19 area.
When you get to the container crates then you will find some Cops. However,
they are just looking around so you can leave them alone if you wish. Turn

When you arrive here it will be daylight. But look at the sun. You will see
the moon start to move in front of it. Today is the day the eclipse occurs.

But, if you walk by a light, then it will smash on its own. There is
something about the eclipse that gives you additional powers. Maybe this was
what Anthony Estacado was trying to tell Jackie but was not given the chance.

Hang by the boathouse until the sun is completely eclipsed. While you are
waiting, you will be approached by two Goons. Kill them with the Pistol. When
the sun is totally eclipsed manifest The Darkness and head up the stairs.

The Darkness will warn you that the more you kill the closer it gets
to taking full control. Switch to your Darkness Guns and kill the Goons as
you climb up the stairs. When you approach the second Darkling Portal then
you will see a Darkling appear without you summoning it.

Continue climbing up the stairs, killing Goons as you go, until you reach the
top. Once at the top of the stairs, use any Darklings that survive to attack
the Goons and follow the pathway. Use the Darkness Guns to attack the Goons
yourself as you proceed. Call up additional Darklings if you want.

Eventually you will come up to another set of stairs. This leads to the area
directly in front of Paulie's mansion. If you go to the top of the stairs you
will be attacked by more Goons. In addition, multiple floodlights will be
activated in front of the mansion.

Hang back and pick off the floodlights while sending Darklings to distract
and attack the Goons. When enough of the Goons have been cleared, head up and
toward the main door. Use the nearby walls for cover as you approach and kill
the two Goons at the front door.

When you enter the front door then you will activate a cutscene. The Darkness
takes control and attacks Paulie's men. When you regain control again then
you will be on the upper level and a Darkling will attack a Goon ahead of you
then head into the nearby hallway. Switch to your Pistols and kill any Goon
that appears from the hallway.

After awhile then The Darkness takes control again and you will go through
another cutscene. When you regain control you will be outside. Kill the Goons
with your weapon of choice until The Darkness takes control again.

After the cutscene then you will be inside a hallway with a Goon in front of
you. Kill him then proceed. You may notice that you cannot de-manifest The
Darkness. Shoot out the lights and switch to the Darkness Guns.

Peek around the corner and you will see some Goons at the end of the hall.
When they are all killed, The Darkness will take control again.

After the cutscene then you will be on the upper level near the front door
again. Another Gunner Darkling will appear near you. Shoot out the lights,
and head to the other side of the room and position yourself so you can look
down the hallway.

Kill the Goons that appear in the hallway. Also kill the Goons that appear
beneath you and try to come up the stairs. Once this area has been cleared
then head down and into the hallway. Shoot out the lights and get your Gunner
Darkling to go ahead of you.

Turn the corner and you should see some Goons at the next corner. Use your
Gunner Darkling to fire back at them. You should also see a hallway junction
in the middle of this hallway.

You can either kill the Goons at the next corner and proceed forward around
it or turn right at the junction then turn left at the next and head outside
and turn left at the corner. Either path will lead you to the next cutscene.

After the cutscene you will still be in the large room. Look for the
fireplace. To the left of the fireplace is a door. This door leads you back
to the front door.

After you are back at the front door then go up the stairs and take the left
path going up. Once you are upstairs then go through the door in front of you
which is now unlocked.

This will lead you to.....

Follow the hallways until you reach the base of the Lighthouse itself. At
this point you will be taunted by Paulie. Take the stairs leading up then go

This will take you to the top of the Lighthouse. Find and go through the open
door then go left. Switch to your Darkness Guns. When you reach the next door
you then will confront Paulie.

Now open the door but don't go inside. You will see Paulie behind some cover.
Fire a few shots at his head and you will take him down. This will also start
another cutscene. While Paulie is begging for his life you are warned by The
Darkness that, when you kill Paulie, it will finally take your soul.

However, you have *NO* choice but to kill Paulie. If you try to wait for him
to die on his own then Paulie will shoot back at you. In addition, the

Credits and thanks go out to the following:

  >>Starbreeze Studios
    ******************
      For creating another wonderful game based on a licensed property. This
      company should do all games based on movies, television shows, and
      books (standard and comic).

  >>GameFAQs, IGN, Cheats.de, GamerHelper, GamersTemple, SuperCheats,
    TheGenie, and many other guides sites
    ************************************************************************
      For providing a place for writers like myself to publish our work and
      help other gamers while indulging in one of our favorite pastimes.

  >>Apple Computers and Bare Bones Software
    ***************************************
      For making, IMHO, the best computers (especially my Intel Mac Mini) and
      for making the best text programs (BBEdit Lite and TextWrangler) for
      the Macintosh.

  >>MicroSoft and Sony
    ******************
      For putting out the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game consoles.

And finally, my biggest thanks of all goes to you, the reader.
