Introduction

After that disaster we got known as King of Fighters 12, SNK Playmore redeemed itself with the release of King of Fighters 13 which proves that KOF 12 was an incomplete game and KOF13 is the complete version of it as all characters that missed the cut (left out is more like it) from the previous game. If you got the XBOX 360 version of KOF 12, you can see all the character data that went into the making of KOF13.

Why will KOF13 be better? They got a ton of things that'll put KOF12 to shame such as more special moves, EX moves, and the all-too-cool NeoMax moves that'll blow you away.

Story

Magaki was slain by Shion's spear, and Shion vanished into the dimensional rift. Then other members of the group Heidern was tracking suddenly appeared and vanished, as if to mock Heidern and his team. Who are "Those From the Distant Land," and why are they so persistent in their pursuit of the power of Orochi?

Meanwhile, Ash Crimson, having obtained Kagura's power, chose to ignore Elisabeth's cautions and took on Iori Yagami's power.

Yata was defeated, and Yasakani has fallen. Only one of the Three Sacred Treasures remains: the Sword of Kusanagi. However, Kyo Kusanagi suffered a major injury at the hands of Yagami, who had been overtaken by the power of the revitalized Orochi.

Time has passed...

With these recent incidents, it was feared that the next King of Fighters tournament would never happen. However, thanks to an unheard-of amount of promotion by a mysterious party, the KoF will be held on an unprecedented scale. The new mixed martial arts tournament is on the world stage, and the mass media has been giving it coverage like never before.

Fighters all across the world begin to receive invitations... all sent from "R"!

Note: Sans-Culotte reduces damage dealt when active thus SC is noted.

Récompenses: Ash gives his opponent the "claw" then burst flames on them.

Floreal: It's just a forward spinning kick that catches opponents by surprise.

Floreal (Kouhou): Same as above except Ash travels backwards in the process.

Ventose: Sends a green fireball. Weak version looks a green version of Deejay's Max Out from Street Fighter series. The strong version has him doing a slightly bigger fireball. EX version throws the Weak followed by the Strong version.

Nivose: almost like a Flash Kick but it looks similar to Elena's anti-air move from Street Fighter 3. Weak version hits up to 2 times and Strong hits 3 times. The EX version hits 4 times.

Germinal Caprice: Ash dashes across the screen. Weak version travels half the screen. Strong version travels nearly full screen but won't hit if the opponent is at the very end of the screen. EX version is same as Strong version except it hits 3 times.

Génie: Ash blowing a kiss at the opponent that produces a green fireball in a different area of the screen depending on the button pressed. EX version makes him blow a more powerful fireball that hits 3 times on contact.

Thermidor: Not a recomended move to use in the fight. Ash will produce a big round fireball and throw it at the opponent. Not as effective as it used to be before KOF12.

Pluviose: A series of 3 Nivoses. EX version does 4 Nivoses.

San-culotte: Surrounds Ash in a green pillar. It is back to being effective as it was before with charge times being eliminated altogether while active (Ash is surrounded by the green cloak). It consumes 2 gauges and it reduce the damage of other special moves.

Germinal: Same as Germinal Caprise except when it hits, it seals the opponents, super meter and prevents special moves for 8 seconds. It also travels full screen.

Fructidor: Ash grabs the opponet and surrounds both himself and the opponent with a giant pillar of purple flames as Ash laughs hysterically.

Notes

Ash gains the Germinal Caprice and Fructidor. He also regains the Germinal.

Much like Germinal was gained from Chizuru, Fructidor is gained from Iori somewhat.

Jigoku Otoshi: Hangs opponent with cane and drops them.

Sao Uchi: Lunges stick forward.

Dai Kaiten-Geri: A lunging spin kick. Hits twice if close.

Boutakatobi-Geri: Lunging pole vault kick

Sansetsu Kon Chuudan Uchi: Extends stick towards opponent. HP has longer reach, EX hits more times.

Kaen Sansetsu Kon Chuudan Uchi: Adds an extra flame attack to above move.

Senpuu Kon: Billy twirls stick around.

Suzume Otoshi: Anti-air stick attack. LP hits grounded opponents. HP can only hit grounded tall characters. EX knocks them high into the sky.

Kyoushuu Hishou Kon: Leaps in the air offscreen and comes down with a kick. LK hits 3 times, HK hits 4, EX comes out faster.

Chou Kaen Senpuu: Senpuu Kon with flames attached. Billy then shoots the flaming wheel forward.

Dai Guren Rasen Kon: Billy sends a flame snake at the opponent.

Kiyoku no Tsuki: Throws a short range black flame puff. HP version is anti-air. EX hits multiple times.

Hanetsurube no Nata: Ash's Nivose, HK hits twice, EX hits several times.

Kasahazushi no Tsuchi: Saiki teleports and adds an extra hit. EX version adds more hits.

Hiori no Kusabi: Looks like Ash's CD attack. EX version bounces opponent off the wall.

Ura Shichiri: Saiki teleports closer to opponent.

Shichiri Gake: Saiki teleports to differents spots.

Washiba Otoshi: A deadlier version of Hanetsurube no Nata EX + Kasahazushi no Tsuchi EX that ends with an air stomp

Yami Otoshi: Saiki drops on opponent from the hair, twist his heel on their head and kicks them away.

Tokoyami no Fune: Ash's original Thermidor.

Kyoryuu no Ori: Grabs opponent and absorbs their life and adds to his. EX version lasts longer.

Kasumi: Saiki turns into his monster self and fills the screen with black flame

Touche: Grabs opponent and backslaps them.

Un Coup de Pied: A surprise back snapkick.

Etincelles: Swipes at the opponent with white light, Strong version hits twice, EX version hits 3 times.

Reverie-souhaiter: Slides forward through attacks.

Reverie-prier: Slides backwards through attacks.

Reverie-geler: Elizabeth now teleports behind opponent when hit and stun them. The EX version will cause the opponent to double over and stun them longer.

Mistral: throws the opponent high into the air in white light. EX version does lesser damage but tosses opponent higher and can make it easier to combo from it.

Coup de Veine: Elizabeth teleports forward and uppercuts the opponent and knocks them in the sky. The EX version does extra damage.

Noble Blanche: Multi-hitting ball of white light. EX version throws the ball of light and does more damage.

Grand Rafale: Elizabeth dashes and does the Mistral on contact then meets the opponent in midair and hits them with a ball of light that hits many times.

Etoile Filante: A counterattack that when hit with a physical attack in the midst of vanishing, Elizabeth will teleport to the center of the screen and put on an exploding light show.

Notes

She gains the Un Coup de Pied which is a command attack.

Etoile Filante works as a counter but can be executed if Max Cancelled from a Grand Rafale if executed at the point where opponent is launched up.

Suite Shoukou: Duo Lon grabs the opponent and sideheadbutts them.

Maboroshi Mu Ken :a simple finger poker that stretches across half the screen but it is considered a special move instead of a command move. It is can also be used in the air. EX version hits twice and pulls oppenents closer. Air EX does double damage.

Maboroshi Mu Kyaku: Has got to be the most cheapest move in the game. Duo Lon sticks his foot in the ground and it kicks the opponent wherever they stand. The air version is not so cheap. EX version can launch opponent forward or backwards depending on how close they are. Air EX doesn't launch.

Hike Kyaku: A teleport move where Zen goes forward and Ushiro goes backwards.

Suteki Juuryuu: A three-part move that hits 3 times. EX version hits up to 6 times

Hiden Genmu Ju-on Shikon Hafuri: Duo Lon sinks into the ground and if the shadows touch the opponent, they get dragged with them and get spit out by a bunch of souls.

Fuku Mu Ken: Shen Woo grabs the opponent, does two headbutts followed by a massive headbutt.

Fusen Kyaku: a front snap kick

Tenrenken: Has him doing a lunging uppercut. Can be used as a follow up to a Gekiken or a Tamaken but you got to be quick. You can follow it up with a EX Tatsu! Geki Ken. EX version hits twice.

Gekiken: The Burn Knuckle type move except he slides forward instead of lunging. He can charge it up and cause the almost the same amount of damage as his DM version if charged to the MAX. He can fake it or follow it up with a Tenrenken. EX version make Shen invincible.

Fuku Tora Geki: A standing axe handle and the Kanyuu Ryugeki is the follow up upper axe handle swing. EX launches opponent.

Tamaken: A command grab that punches the opponent away. EX version makes opponents crumple.

Tamaken (Hajiki): Reflects enemy fireballs.

Tatsu! Geki Ken: A souped up version of his Gekiken but he does only 20 pts of damage more than the fully charged Gekiken but at least you can charge it up. Normal version can't follow Tenrenken anymore but the EX version still can.

Bakuten: Surrounds Shen Woo with a pillar of flames that can damage the opponent if too close.

Tensho Bakushingeki: Launches opponents with an uppercut followed by an explosion.

Notes

Bakuten is now useful again. It adds damage to all subsequent attacks for a few seconds.

Story

As summer drew near in the northern hemisphere, the southern hemisphere was about to catch its last glimpses of autumn. And even faster than the new season's arrival, a young man was traveling the world. But his journey would soon come to an end.

Nearby a man plied his craft on a bandoneon and cranked out an Argentine tango that was heard in this back alley.The fact that he'd been in this country for over a month but had not yet learned a single step meant that Benimaru would surely mock him, but the young man didn't come here for dance lessons.

He whistled along with the music and made his way up the neon-hued back alley with a hand jammed in the pocket of his leather jacket.

Then... The young man suddenly jumped back.

Kyo Kusanagi: ......

He dropped the knapsack slung over his shoulder and raised his fists. A thin red line of blood materialized on his cheek.

Kyo Kusanagi: ...Who are you guys?

The young man called out in a low voice as he stood seemingly poised to attack the darkness.

Shroom: ...Kyo Kusanagi, I presume?

A tall and slim youth with a mushroom cut emerged from the shadows and adressed the target of his attack with an air of arrogance. Along with him was a short bob-haired girl who huddled unusually close. Both of them had sickly pale skin that stood in stark contrast with their unnaturally dark eyes.

Kyo Kusanagi: I recognize this feeling.

As he looked at the two, the young man--Kyo Kusanagi--gently pressed the wound on his cheek.

Kyo Kusanagi: ...You're part of that whatever group, huh? What the hell do you want with me?

Shroom: ......

The young man did not answer Kyo's question, but sat there and toyed with some sort of string. Kyo squinted to see what the young boy was playing with. It was a black leather eyepatch. When he realized what the item was, the image of a certain one-eyed mercenary veteran immediately appeared in Kyo's mind. If that eyepatch was from where Kyo thought it was, then this young man must be very skilled. The boy's build was much too thin to be that of a martial artist, but Kyo had fought enough to know that his frail, slight body could still hold some extraordinary power.

Kyo Kusanagi: I see, so you're not just a sewer rat. ...Still, what business do you have with me? If you're just gonna stay silent, then get outta my way.

Shroom: Heh. You're full of energy, but that's it.

The young boy mockingly put the eyepatch on his right eye and pointed at Kyo with his right hand.

Shroom: ...This is the first time we've met, but it seems I miscalculated you, Kyo Kusanagi. I didn't think the successor to the "sword" was this weak.

The boy and girl shared a laugh after gesturing at the cut they gave Kyo with their surprise attack. Kyo didn't show any anger in response to their taunts. Instead, he smiled.

Kyo Kusanagi: You're about 100 years too young to be talking smack to me, kid.

Shroom: What--

Kyo Kusanagi: Seriously? You haven't noticed yet?

Now it was Kyo who pointed at the young man. Around his chest, the summer sweater he was wearing had turned to white ash.

Shroom: ...!

The look on the the boy's face tensed up in shock. He now realized that the moment he attacked, Kyo not only dodged, but let out an immensely accurate counter-attack. More importantly, he realized that if Kyo was serious, he likely wouldn't be alive to have this conversation...

The tone of contempt had now completely disappeared from the boy's voice.

Shroom: ...So now I've miscalculated you twice. You are better than I thought.

Kyo Kusanagi: I'm glad that you can see that now.

Kyo rolled his neck and smiled.

Kyo Kusanagi: Then, I guess it's my turn!

Shroom: Wait.

The moment before Kyo started to close the gap, the boy tossed Kyo an object.

Kyo Kusanagi: ...?

A confused look made its way across Kyo's face. A white envelope bearing a red seal with the letter "R" pressed into it... This object was familiar to him.

Kyo Kusanagi: ...Why do you have this?

Shroom: We wanted to make sure you showed up, so we came to hand you this invitation personally. ...But of course, it seems like this was an unnecessary precaution.

With that, the mushroom-haired youth and his silent partner backed away.

"I gave you the invitation, Kyo Kusanagi. The guy you're looking for will most likely be there. ...We'll see how you do."

Kyo Kusanagi: You just shut up.

As the two disappeared into the darkness, Kyo stared at the invitation. He didn't need to break the seal; he knew what was written inside. Kyo stuffed the envelope in his knapsack and smiled.

Kyo Kusanagi: Well, as long as it'll get me fired up. I'm gonna beat that punk to a pulp.

While he waited for the light, Benimaru started up a conversation with Kyo.

Benimaru Nikaido: So, you going to visit Shingo at the hospital?"

Kyo Kusanagi: There's no need for that.

Benimaru Nikaido: How about Chizuru? I heard Yagami visited her.

Kyo Kusanagi: There's definitely no need for that.

Kyo stifled a yawn after he bluntly ended the conversation.Just an hour before, Benimaru and Daimon were reunited with Kyo Kusanagi at the airport. For better or for worse, he was the same as before: standoffish and childish. He left the country to train, but it seems that the only thing that he improved was his physique.

Benimaru made eye contact with Goro Daimon through the back mirror and shot him a knowing smile.

Kyo Kusanagi: ...What?

Kyo shot Benimaru a cold glance from the side.

Benimaru Nikaido: What do you mean, "What?"

Kyo Kusanagi: You just laughed, didn't you?

Benimaru Nikaido: No I didn't.

Kyo Kusanagi: ...Hmph.

As Kyo reclined the passenger seat back, he gazed out the window.

Kyo Kusanagi: ...Hey Daimon.

Goro Daimon: What is it, Kyo?

Kyo Kusanagi: What about your job?

Goro Daimon: I am always a judoka. You don't have to worry about me.

As Benimaru stepped on the accelerator, he chimed in.

Benimaru Nikaido: Goro here is taking a break from his teaching duties until the tournament is over.

Kyo Kusanagi: Hmmm. So I guess you can't lose, for the sake of your students' reputations.

Goro Daimon: Of course I won't. ...It's the same for you, right? None of us can accept being defeated here.

Kyo Kusanagi: ...Yeah.

Greenery zoomed by in a blur in Kyo's view. Kyo smiled weakly.

Kyo Kusanagi: ...Hey, Benimaru, Daimon.

Benimaru Nikaido: What?

Kyo Kusanagi: It's a bit late to be asking, but are you sure?

Goro Daimon: About what?

Kyo Kusanagi: About entering this tournament. I don't know who's holding it, but the guys pulling the strings are those punks."

Those From the Distant Land--Benimaru and Daimon had both have encountered the group in the previous tournaments. They are quite aware of this group's capabilities. Neither Benimaru nor Daimon so much as flinched.

Benimaru Nikaido: Well, I figured as much.

Benimaru said as he smiled cooly.

Benimaru Nikaido: The stronger they are, the more fun the fight will be.

With his huge arms folded, Daimon gave a big smile.

Goro Daimon: ...It WAS a bit late, wasn't it?"

Benimaru Nikaido: Hrm. Late it is."

Kyo Kusanagi: Shut up.

Kyo closed his eyes and sulked. When the young man returned to his homeland, the northern hemisphere was definitely in the heart of summer. The summer heat was warming up their spirits.The same friends, the same summer, and maybe that man will be... That was all it took to start Kyo's fire burning.

Issetsu Seoi Nage: Kyo slams the opponent then drops the elbow on them

Shiki Goufu You: Standing axe kick that works as an overhead.

88 Shiki: Double low kick.

Geshiki Naraku Otoshi: Diving elbow drop.

Yami Barai: Famous ground fireball. The weak is slow and the strong is faster. EX version knocks down.

Oniyaki: is a spiraling uppercut that has a lot of priority. Weak is low and hits twice if close. Strong is higher and hit 3 times if close. EX goes even higher and hits 11 times.

75 Shiki Kai: is a double kick. As in KOF12. There is no need to press the button twice to do both kicks. Stronger one does less damage but launches opponent higher for a combo opportunity. EX does more damage than weak but has juggling properties of the strong one.

Oboro Guruma: His rising triple kick he's had off an on since his KOF debut. The weak is low and hits once and the stong goes higher and hits three times. EX version adds speed and invincibility.

Kototsuki You: Run and slide elbow that if connected, will lift the foe and launch them into the air. EX version is an instant grab when close.

Orochinagi: Kyo raises his fist in a flame and unleashes a massive fireball wave. EX version is more powerful.

Ura 121 Shiki Ama-no-Murakumo: Kyo tosses a fireball that when it connects it sends a pillar of flames at the opponent.

Okuriashi Harai: Goro grabs the opponent and trips them to the side.

Zujo Barai: Upward forearm thrust.

Tenchi Gaeshi: Goro slams the opponent then toss them up in the air. EX lets Goro recover faster to attack opponents on the way down.

Jirashin: An earthquake move. The HP version is a fake. EX version is more damaging and hits crouchers.

Kumo Tsukami Nage: Grabs opponents out of the ground and slams them down. You can slam tall opponents standing on the ground with this move. EX adds upper body invincibility.

Kirikabu Gaeshi: A grab that arcs down then slams the opponent on the other side of the pavement.

Chou Ukemi: A forward roll that avoids damage. EX version is faster and has more invincibility.

Oosotogari: Does a brutal body slam. EX version has more range.

Jigoku Gokuraku Otoshi: Goro slams the opponent multiple times then tossing them away for major damage when they land. EX has more range.

Kyouten Douchi: Counterattack that knocks opponent into the air and Goro gathers energy and creates a giant shockwave that hits the opponent when they touch the ground.

Story

South Town East Island, United States. Pao Pao Cafe main branch. It is hallowed ground for those who their living as fighters.

South Town was, in fact, the birthplace of the famed martial arts tournament "King of Fighters". Pao Pao Cafe quickly became a hot spot for fighters by virtue of offering exciting fights night after night.

The cafe was filled with the melody of the berimbau and the merriment of the customers. It wasn't even dusk, but the place had already begun filling up with customers, who were eagerly waiting for the show to start.

Joe Higashi started to get caught up the excitement and nostalgia of the situation. However, after he looked down at the entrance once again from his 2nd floor terrace seat, his foot abruptly stopped tapping to the beat. Joe exhaled a sullen sigh.

Joe Higashi: Damn those fame-whore brothers...

With his hands jammed firmly in the pockets of his hoodie, Joe looked up at the ceiling.

Joe Higashi: Making the world's fighting super-star, the great Joe Higashi, wait? Who do these small fries think they are big-timing me like that!?

Richard Meyer: Who's a super-star?

The owner of the Pao Pao cafe, Richard, appeared with a big mug of beer in tow. Richard and Joe go back a long way, which is why he was doing a shift as a waiter for Joe.

After he set the beer and a plate of deep-fried alligator in front of Joe, Richard flashed Joe a knowing smile.

Richard Meyer: Terry being late, well, that's old news, but it's rare for Andy to be late. I wonder what the reason is."

Joe Higashi: ...Probably not a good one."

Joe grabbed the mug and chugged the beer.

Joe Higashi, the current and strongest Muay Thai champ in history, Terry Bogard, the legend of South Town, and his younger brother Andy Bogard, a renowned Koppo master... These three formed a team to enter this year's KOF.

The three fighting masters entered the KOF as this team countless times. Despite the fierce competition of the tournament, they've always been a formidable lineup. But in recent years, Joe and Andy had been unable to participate due to personal reasons, which forced Terry to enter with other members. It has been a while since the three fought together.

And yet, Terry and Andy are late for their appointment with their former teammate. Joe has been waiting here for over 30 minutes. That was the source of Joe's annoyance. Joe held his fork backhanded and filled his mouth with the fried alligator pieces.

Joe Higashi: Those blondie brothers... If they're not here in 30 minutes...",

Joe spat out under his breath.

Richard Meyer: Hey Joe, they're here.

Joe Higashi: Huh?

Joe tossed his fork down and leaned over the railing to find a man with long blonde hair and a brunette bombshell. It was Andy Bogard and his self-declared fiancee Mai Shiranui.

Mai Shiranui: Oh! Over there! Hey, Joe!

Mai, took notice of Joe and Richard and began waving happily at them.

Joe Higashi: Tch... Those two flirting with each other in front of me!

After seeing Mai on Andy's arm, Joe gritted his teeth.

Richard Meyer: Hm? What's wrong Joe? You say something?

Joe Higashi: He's not taking this tournament seriously! Look at the fool; he's just falling all over Mai...

Richard Meyere: It doesn't look that way to me... Don't tell me you're jealous of him, Joe.

Joe Higashi: I never said that!

Joe's face flushed red as he slammed his fist on the table. Andy and Mai arrived upstairs.

Andy Bogard: Hello, Joe!

Joe Higashi: Hi!

Andy Bogard: Sorry for being late. The plane was behind schedule.

Andy extended his arm for a handshake, unaware of Joe's irritation. His face bore an earnest grin.

Joe Higahsi: Well... I guess I can't blame you for that...

Hearing Andy's excuse, Joe's anger had subsided some. Joe ignored Andy's extended hand, and instead, thrust a forkful of fried alligator at Andy.

Joe Higashi: ...So, what's with Terry?

Andy Bogard: Huh? Terry's not here yet? ...Hm? Alligator isn't all that bad.

Andy took a seat next to Joe and ordered himself a drink.

Andy Bogard: I'll take a beer too, Richard!

Mai raised her hand as she slid a chair up next to Andy's.

Andy Bogard: Okay, two beers, then?

Mai Shiranui: Oh, and can I reserve this place for a celebration party?

Joe Higashi: Celebration?

Joe tossed Mai's question back with a hint of contempt.

Joe Higashi: ...Hey, Mai. You entering the tournament, too?

Mai Shiranui: Well of course!

Mai produced a white envelope out of her purse and smiled.

Mai Shiranui: Well, you know, it's just not a KOF without me, right? Well, the other girls from the original team decided that we should reunite, so we'll be taking the championship. Sorry boys!

Andy Bogard: She's been like this ever since we got on the plane.

Andy sighed as he looked over to see Mai confidently chuckling behind her fan. Joe finished his beer and smirked.

Joe Higashi: Hey, everyone's free to have their dreams. But here in reality, Joe Higashi and the two funny brothers are the only ones going home with the title.

Richard Meyer: It seems everyone's raring to go after that little break, huh?

Richard laughed cheerfully, as he set down a round of beers for the group.

Richard Meyer: And speaking of the devil, the Legendary Wolf himself is finally here!

Richard gestured behind him, just as Terry climbed the stairs. Mary was accompanying him. Seeing the two side-by-side, Joe's beaming grin faded into a frown.

Terry Bogard: Hey! Everyone's already here?

Terry winked and tipped the brim of his cap.

Andy Bogard: What happened, brother? You're late.

Terry Bogard: I got to South Town last night, but I overslept at the station. By the time I woke up, I was supposed to be here, so I called Mary and asked her to give me a lift.

As Terry nonchalantly explained the situation, Mary gave him an exaggerated slouch.

Blue Mary Ryan: I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't use me as a taxi. I haven't heard from you in ages, and then you call me up out of the blue because you need a ride!

Terry Bogard: Haha, I'm sorry 'bout that. You're a real lifesaver, Mary. Thanks!

Joe Higashi: I-I'm sorry my ass!

Joe knocked over his chair as he stood up and interrupted the conversation. He jabbed an angry index finger at Terry's face and started yelling.

Joe Higashi: Hey, Terry! If you're gonna be apologizing, isn't there someone else you're forgetting!?

Terry Bogard: ...Huh? Are you okay, Joe? Why are you so ticked?

Joe Higashi: I said, apologize, dammit! It's not like this is the first time you've left me waiting for you--

Andy Bogard: Hey... Did any of you hear this rumor...

Andy sidestepped Joe's rage, and cut in with a serious look on his face.

Andy Bogard: I heard that Raiden and Hwa Jai are entering this tournament with Kim.

Joe Higashi: Raiden and Hwa Jai... Yeah, I've heard that rumor. But I wonder if Kim's actually planning on reforming those two.

Terry Bogard: Hey, if they're strong, then I don't have any complaints. As long as I can get in a good fight.

Andy Bogard: That's what I expected you to say, Terry.

As if to make up for lost time, a lively conversation spontaneously emerged from the evening. The friends stayed animated until Terry had a sudden realization.

Terry Bogard: ...Is that the reason you're all wound up? You and Hwa have history, dontcha Joe?

Joe Higashi: Wha!? Who you callin' nervous!?

Terry Bogard: Uh, you? You've been on edge this entire time.

Joe Higashi: You... Cut the crap!

Joe completely snapped and flipped the table in front of him.

Terry Bogard: What the heck!? You drunk already or something, Joe!?

Joe Higashi: You shut up! First I'm teach you that nobody disrepects Joe, and then you're gonna apologize!

Terry Bogard: I don't really get what's going on here, but... OK! Let's check each other's strength before we get to the tourney!

Joe Higashi: Wipe that grin off your face!

Joe and Terry both leaped over the railing and landed in the center of the battle stage on the first floor. The crowd immediately went wild after seeing the two famous fighters take to the stage with such panache.

Joe Higashi: Damn you two! Hooking up with ladies in front of me...!

Terry Bogard: What was that? I can't hear you over the crowd!

Joe Higashi: Argh! Nothing!

Joe threw off his hoodie as he studied Terry rocking into his fighting rhythm. Terry looked as cheerful as ever, and Joe could feel that familiar fighting spirit well up.

"A friend's a friend, but we need to settle this for good before the tournament starts. We can't be an effective team if we're wondering who's the strongest."

The thrill of the impending fight had instantly sobered Joe up. Though the fight had arisen from disrespect and rage, standing in front of a powerful rival provided Joe clarity of purpose.

Despite their differences in personalities, when all is said and done, Joe can't deny that he's just a simple man who lived to fight just like Terry did.

Terry Bogard: Let's Fight! Here I come, Joe!

Terry suddenly darted right in front of Joe. Joe sensed immediately that Terry's skills hadn't waned in the least, and he could no longer contain his excitement.

Joe Higashi: Yeahhhhh!

Joe responded by dashing towards Terry and uncorking his own punch.

Joe Higashi: I'll show you... When we win the championship, I'll be the one getting the women! Those cheers are gonna be for me, the legendary Joe Higashi!

Rising Upper: Just has him standing up with an uppercut.

Power Wave: Terry's ground fireball that travels the whole screen. The weak is slow and the strong is fast. EX is slower but hits 3 times.

Burn Knuckle is a diving fist across the screen. EX travels the whole screen.

Crack Shoot is a spinning kick that can hit once if weak and twice if strong but if the opponent is airborne it can hit three times. EX knocks down.

Rising Tackle: A charge move that has him spin upside down as he rises with his fist extended. The weak is low and the strong is high. More hits and has some invincibility.

The Power Geyser: creates a huge explosive geyser from the ground. EX has more range

Buster Wolf: Terry lunges forward with a fist then blast them away. EX version, is invincible and hits up to 6 times.

Trinity Geyser: Terry pounds the ground and sends a wave of explosions across the screen.

Kakaekomi: Andy tosses the opponent to the other side.

Hirate Uchi: A simple palm to the chest.

Hishoken: Throws a sonic boom like fireball. Weak is slow and strong is fast.

Shoryuudan makes Andy spin his arms on his way up. Weak is low and strong is high. EX version does a Shoryudan that stays on the ground first before doing another one that leaps into the air.

Zaneiken: A dashing elbow that knocks down on contact. Weak goes 1/2 screen and strong goes almost full screen. EX has faster recovery time.

Kuuhadan: Has Andy leaping feetfirst at the opponent. Weak has a low arch and hits up to 3 times and high goes up at a steep angle and can hit up to 4 times. EX Version is an even steeper angle and hits 6 times.

Breaking: Stops the Kuuhadan in midmove and Andy rolls forward. It must be done during the beginning. Usually when one hit is landed.

Choureppudan: A souped up version of his Kuuhadan. EX version hits much more times.

Geki Hishouken: It is now a super move. He does a Hishouken that stays in place and hits multiple times.

Chou Shinsoku Zan'eiken: Deadlier Zan'eiken.

Bakuretsuken: His multihit moves we punches the opponent rapidly. He can finish this off with an uppercut. EX version travels forward.

Ougo no Kakato: An axe kick with added flame effects. EX version lets you recover quicker.

Screw Upper: Joe creates a massive hurricane that hits anyone up to 3 steps away from him as it stays in place there. EX version travels forward.

Bakuretsu Hurricane Tiger Kakato: Joe does his EX Bakuretsuken, followed by some Hurricane Uppers, a vertical Tiger Kick, and ended with a midair Ougo no Kakato.

Screw Straight: Joe will wind up and throw a straight punch with the effects of the Screw Upper attached to it.

Notes

Joe uses his left arm to throw weak Hurricane Uppers, and right arm to throw strong ones. It's almost like saying "If your right-handed, your left hand might not be up to par."

Tomoe Nage: just what it says, Ryo falls back and throws the opponent over him.

Hyouchuu Wari: Overhead chop

Joudan Uke: An upper parry.

Gedan Uke: A lower parry.

Ko Ou Ken: Throws a short range fireball that knocks down. HP version moves forward slightly. EX version has faster recovery time.

Kohou: Leaping uppercut. Weak is low and Strong is high and hits twice. EX has wider range.

Hien Shippukyaku: 2 hit spin kick. The strong version can add an extra kick to it. EX version can let you follow up especially with the Zanretsuken.

Zanretsuken is a multiple hit move that rapidly punches with inner hand and finishes it with a outer hand. LP ends with straight punch, HP ends with an uppercut that launches upwards. EX version hits 21 times and launches opponents upwards.

Haohshoukoken is a massive fireball.

Ryuuko Ranbu lunges forward and beats the shit out of the opponent if it hits. EX version has invincibility.

Shin Tenchi Haohken is his a deadlier version of his Tenchi Haohken with an added explosion.

Notes

The only notable change is that he uses his stands that he used in Art of Fighting. I guess you can count the extra effects on his Tenchi Haohken thus the "Shin" before it.

Strike Arch: This is her axe kick. It no longer knocks down on contact but it's still an overhead.

Baltic Launcher: Leona creates a forceball that hits multiple times. Strong version makes the ball travel forward. EX version can counter low attacks.

Moon Slasher: Still works the same. Just got a graphical upgrade. EX version is faster and adds invincibility.

Earring Bakudan: Not as effective. In fact, Athena's Psycho Reflector can now "reflect" it. EX version makes it come out faster and makes it damaging.

Grand Saber: Leona runs forward and if she is close enough while running up to the point of where she skids, she will slash at the opponent. Weak runs half screen and strong runs almost full screen. EX version is faster and hits twice.

X-Caliber: Leona leaps to the air and throws an X-shaped projectile. Weak acts like the 99' version where she then jumps back, Strong acts like the 97' version where she stays with the projectile on the way down and EX version acts like the 99' version but the X will stay put for a few seconds for multiple hits.

V-Slahser: Leona leaps into the air and dives at the opponent. If she connects, she makes a V-shaped slash. EX version will be more powerful and come out faster. Leona's hair turns red.

Slash Saber: If Leona runs into the opponent, she will run back and forth slashing the opponent many times.

Psychic Throw: Athena launches the opponent into the air with her mind and they take damage upon landing.

Phoenix Bomb: Has Athena leaping with a diving elbow and knee. The Kuuchuu Phoenix Bomb is the version done in air.

Psycho Ball: Athena's fireball that she throws at the opponent. Weak is slow and strong is fast. EX version is slow and hits multiple times.

Psycho Sword: A leaping uppercut with Psycho Power attached to it. Weak is low and strong is high. EX version adds invincibility and speed to it.

Psycho Reflector: Provides a front barrier in front of Athena. If the opponent hits it then it will shoot a fireball back at them in return. It can also throw back projectiles. EX version will send a fireball of its own in addition to a reflected projectile.

Psycho Teleport: Athena will teleport forward with a dash. EX version makes it possible to perform on wakeup.

Phoenix Arrow: An aerial rolling meteor towards the opponent. The stronger version ends with an extra kick. EX version adds more hits and faster recovery if blocked.

Super Psychic Throw: Launches opponent into the air. Athena uses her psycho barrier for the job instead of her hands. EX version allows for a follow up.

SCB provides a psycho barrier around Athena. It is invincible against attacks but Athena is vulnerable when it wears off when left untouched or blocked. It will dissipate immediately when it hits or gets blocked. EX version adds more hits but can't be done in air and it also pulls the opponent to Athena.

Psycho Medley 13: Athena zips through the air hitting the opponent as she changes into her numerous costumes and ending with a bunch of Goddess Athena's in Knight armor throwing Psycho Balls at the downed opponent.

Hasei Shitsukuu Zanryuu: Just like Shikkuzanryuu Kyaku only its a finisher to the Ryuutouda series.

Chokyuudan: Kensou's projectile which he can throw again as a special move. EX version is faster and eats fireballs/

Shikkuzanryuu Kyaku has Kensou run up and leap at the opponent. If he connects he blows the opponent away with his feet. Weak runs half screen and strong runs almost full screen. EX version leaps from where Kensou stands for the attack.

Ryuuboku Tsudzumi gets in close and rapidly punches the opponent in the gut. EX version lets him keep punching without tiring out.

Ryuuga Kusai: Slides low then rises with a helicopter kick. EX version has added invincibility.

Ryuusogeki: Comes downward with a flying punch. EX version hits multiple times on the way down.

Shinryuu Choukyuudan: throws a massive fireball at the opponent. EX version throws a red one that comes out faster.

Shinryuu Seikouken: Deadlier version of the Ryuuboku Tsudzumi that hits 49 times.

Seigan Senki Hakkei: Choukyuudan and Andy's Geki Hishouken put to gether.

Notes

Gains the Baku Karuri, Hasei Shitsukuu Zanryuu and Shinryuu Seikouken.

Hwa Jai is the only new character as far as being playable in the arcade. Just like in Fatal Fury, he has his own version of Joe's Moves but the Dragon Kick is a ripoff of Adon's Jaguar Kick from Street Fighter Alpha instead.
