Tobe's Vertical Adventure is a retro styled 2D platformer. If you enjoyed 
platforming games during the NES generation, you'll enjoy this wonderful 
homage. The goal is to complete each level with the highest score and to do 
that, you have to collect all of the treasures, animals, and complete each 
level as quickly as possible.

To beat each level, you have to make your way to the bottom of each level and 
open the large chest. When you open it, you will see a bar with a marker moving 
across it quickly. You have to try to open it in the middle. You will open it 
regardless of where you make the marker stop, but the closer to the middle, the 
better time bonus you will receive. It will be either 0, 10, or 15 seconds. 
After you open the chest, you will be given a time limit and have to return to 
the beginning of the stage. You will notice some blocks that don't appear as 
clean throughout the game, these will crumble during this escape portion of a 
level. 

You will also see lanterns throughout the game. These lanterns will act as 
checkpoints. If you simply touch a lantern, you will see it begin to glow. At 
this point, if you die, you will return to the lantern instead of the beginning 
of the level.

You can pick which character you want to play as. You can make mostly all the 
same moves. Tobe is faster while running but Nana can double jump. You can also 
play co op and perform special co op moves. 

As you collect animals, you will be given upgrades, refer to the list below for 
more details:

10 Animals Rescued     - Maximum HP increased by 1
$300 Collected         - You can now hold 1 more rope
Complete World 1 Act 4 - You can now revisit Mystic Cave anytime you want!
$600 Collected         - You can now hold 1 more balloons
Complete World 2 Act 4 - You can now revisit Frozen Cavern anytime you want!

Float down on your balloon until you hit the ground. You will notice this is 
more of a tutorial level than anything else so read the signs to learn how to 
perform the basic moves in this game. Run to the right and jump onto the next 
platform to collect three treasures. Continue to the right while collecting 
more treasures until you reach a vine hanging down from the ceiling.

Climb onto the vine and climb down to reach the lower platform. Run to the left 
while collecting some treasures and jump over the gap while running to clear 
this gap. If you fall down here, run onto the plant to the right to bounce back 
up to the platforms above. Collect more treasures until you fall down a couple 
of platforms to the left. At the bottom, jump onto the platform to the left and 
collect some more treasure. Run off the screen to the left and you will appear 
on the right side of the screen.

Jump onto the platform to the left and grab the rope. Throw it up to the right 
and climb up the rope. Swing across the vines along the ceiling and grab the 
animal to the right. Now drop down and run to the left, press down before you 
hit the wall to roll to collect some more treasures and another animal. Fall 
down to the left. 

Grab the balloons to the right. Jump to the vine hanging from the ceiling to 
the right. Climb up it and grab the animal to the right and treasures to the 
left. Fall off the left side of the veins so you will be back on the platform 
that had the balloons. Hang onto the right edge of this platform and drop 
straight down to collect the treasures as you fall. This will be just short 
enough of a drop to not die.

Run to the right and open up the chest for some treasures. Now jump off the 
platforms to the left and collect some more rope. Grab some more treasures to 
the right and fall down the platform to the right. Collect all of the treasures 
and the animal here before you open the large chest to the left. Once you open 
the chest, you will begin the quick escape of this level.

Jump onto the platform to the right and then onto the platform directly to the 
left. Grab the two treasures here. Jump onto the platform to the right and open 
this chest for some more treasure. Climb up the vine to the right and then up 
the next vine to the right. Jump onto the platform to the left at the top of 
this vine and open the chest when you reach it for some treasure. Climb up the 
vine to the right and run off the screen to the right to appear on the left 
side of the screen. 

Climb up the vine, jump onto the platform to the left. Now jump onto the 
platform to the right above you and then onto the platform to the left, grab 
the rope there. Throw the rope up and climb up it to rescue the final animal of 
this level. Now drop down to the lower platform and jump to the platform to the 
right. Climb up the next vine to reach the higher platform to the right. Sprint 
and run over the large gap and climb up the vine to the far right. Jump onto 
the higher platforms to the left and then grab the chain to complete this 
stage.

World 1 Act 2

Grab the treasures to the left and jump over the enemy. Grab the rope and then 
run to the right while you collect some more treasures. Sprint to the right and 
jump onto the wall to the far right. Wall jump to the left for a treasure there 
and then wall jump onto the platform to the right for the animal. Slide down 
the three sets of walls to the right with the treasures on them.

Run to the left and grab the three treasures on the wall. Now back away and 
sprint back to the left wall. Roll under it. Grab the treasures and animal 
here. Jump on the enemy and bounce onto the higher platform with the chest, 
open it for some treasure. Jump to the treasures to the right and drop back 
down to the left. Fall off the platform to the far left.

Collect the animal, treasures, and balloons. Slide down the wall to the right 
and collect the treasures along the way. Run to the left to run off the screen 
and appear on the right side of the screen, you will collect some treasures and 
rope along the wal. Throw a rope onto the ceiling along the left wall and climb 
up it. Jump onto the platform to the right to pick up some treasures and an 
animal. 

Now drop down onto the platform below. Stand on the switch between the 
waterfalls and watch the wall to the left raise. Wait for it to lift all the 
way and sprint to the left. Jump and climb the rope you threw quickly. Jump 
through the door before it closes. Collect the treasures here and open the 
chest. Throw a rope at the ceiling and climb up it, grab the animal on the 
platform to the right.

Slide down the wall to the left to collect some more treasure. Run to the left 
to collect some more treasure and some rope. Now run to the right and jump on 
the enemy to stun it. Throw a rope at the ceiling and climb up it to the 
treasures and large chest. Open it to start the escape to the top. Run to the 
far left and wall run onto the higher platform. Jump to the right and open the 
treasure chest.

Jump onto the platform to the right and then to the platform to the left. Run 
to the far left wall and wall jump onto the higher platform. Jump on the enemy 
to bounce onto the higher platform with the treasure chest you already opened. 
Jump onto the platform to the right and you will bounce on the plat and reach 
the higher platform. Land on the platform to the left and run all the way to 
the left. Jump onto the higher platform when you can and grab onto the chain to 
complete this stage.

World 1 Act 3

Run and jump to the platform to the right, grab the two treasures there. Now 
jump to the next platform for some balloons. Sprint and jump to the right. Once 
you jump, use your balloons and float down while collecting some treasures as 
you land on the platform with the switch. Activate the switch to open the door 
below. Fall down to the ground and rescue the animal. Sprint to the left and 
roll under the wall.

Collect some rope and run to the left as you grab some more treasures. Make 
sure your sprint to avoid the falling stone on the ceiling, it will look like a 
spiked rock. Fall off the platform and roll under the wall to the right. Jump 
onto the platform above and to the left for some more treasures and an animal. 
Jump back down to the right and jump on the enemy to stun it. Run to the right 
for some more treasures and activate the checkpoint when you run off the screen 
and appear on the left side of the screen.

Slide down the wall while collecting the treasures here and grab some rope. 
Jump down below and stun both enemies as you collect the treasures here. Run to 
the right and collect some more treasure. Wall run up the next wall and grab 
the balloons to the left. Now jump back to the right and slide down the right 
wall for some more treasures and activate a checkpoint.

Sprint to the left, avoid the falling rocks, and jump onto the vine. Climb up 
it and across to the left. Flip the switch to open the door below. Now jump 
back on that vine and climb down it. Stun the enemy and open the chest and 
collect the treasures here. Run to the right and collect some more treasures. 
Climb down the vine when you reach it. Jump to the platform to the right and 
stun both enemies. 

Run off the screen to the right to appear on the left side of the screen. Throw 
a rop to the left of the animal. Climb it and rescue the animal. Jump back down 
and climb down the rest of the vine that you came from. Approach the chest to 
the right to make the rocks above fall. Open it after the rocks fall. Now run 
and wall run up the left wall for some treasures. Wall jump to the right and 
then to the left to reach the higher platform. Collect all the treasures and 
open the big chest.

Jump to the left and jump over both enemies as you run off the screen to the 
left to appear on the right side of the screen. Jump onto the vine and climb up 
it. Jump over the enemy to the left and onto the plant. The plant will bounce 
you high in the air so you can climb up the vine. Swing across the hanging 
vines to reach the platform to the left. Run off the screen to the left to 
appear on the right and rescue the animal. Roll under the wall for a 
checkpoint.

Wall run up the wall to the right and jump onto the platform to the left. Jump 
over the enemies and jump onto the two platforms to the right to collect a rope 
and an animal. Fall off the platform to the left and open the chest here for 
the rest of the treasure in this stage. Throw a rope up and climb it to reach 
the platform the animal was on. Jump up the platform above and activate the 
checkpoint.

Jump over the enemy as you run to the left. Jump onto the next platform you 
reach and climb to the top of this area. Jump onto the left platform and climb 
up it. Now jump onto the platform to the right so you can jump onto the higher 
platform to the left. Jump onto the rope above to complete this stage.

World 1 Act 4

The enemy to the left of where you land that will jump up and down. Jump over 
the enemy and rescue the animal on the left edge of this platform behind the 
waterfall. Jump on the enemy to bounce onto the platform to the left. Collec 
tthe treasures and balloons. Fall off the platform to the left and collect the 
treasures while avoiding or stunning the enemies here. Drop off the platform 
and slide down the left wall to collect the treasures. Just ignore the animal 
and chest to the right for now because you can grab it easily on the way out. 
You will activate the checkpoint when you land. 

Stand on the switch to the right until the door below opens all the way. Run 
off the platform to the right and grab the rope. Now run all the way to the 
left and make it under the door before it closes. Run and jump to the left 
wall. You will wall run up it and onto the top of the platform to collect some 
treasures. This will be the next checkpoint.

Throw a rope up to the right and climb up it. Jump onto the vine and rescue the 
animal at the top while collecting the treasures. Climb down the vine and jump 
off the platforms to the left for some health and a treasure. Fall off the 
platform to the right and land on the enemy. Grab the treasures to the right. 
Now jump onto the vines and climb across to the right. Grab the treasures and 
animal on the next platform. Jump to the next platform for the checkpoint.

Flip the switch here to open the gate below. Jump onto the lower vine to the 
left and climb down it. Stun this enemy and sprint to the left. Roll under the 
short wall. Jump onto the platform for a chest full of treasures. Now drop back 
down to the right and roll under the wall again. Drop down to the left side of 
the spikes. Jump to the animal to rescue it and jump back towards the spikes. 
Jump over the spikes and run off the screen to the right to appear on the left 
while collecting some treasures. Open the chest and drop down, run off the 
screen to the left to appear on the right. Run to the left while collecting all 
of the treasures and avoiding the falling rocks from above. Open the large 
chest when you reach it.

You will see a set of spikes appear below. It won't start rising at first but 
it will after a few seconds so start getting out of here early. Begin by 
throwing a rope up just to the right of the chest. Climb it and jump onto the 
openning to the left. Jump onto the plant to the left to bounce up to the 
higher platform. Avoid the enemy and run off the screen to the left to appear 
on the right side of the screen. Jump onto the platforms here and grab the 
treasures while activating the checkpoint.

Jump onto the vine to the left and then to the platform to the left. Now jump 
onto the platform directly above the vine that you were just on. Climb up the 
vine and jump onto the platform to the left. Run and jump to the platform to 
the left to activate another checkpoint. Jump to the right and stun the enemy. 
Open the chest and rescue the animal. Roll under the wall on the right and jump 
up the platforms here to collect all of the treasures. At the top, jump on the 
enemy to reach the rope to complete this stage.

World 2 Act 1

Jump onto the platform to the right. Avoid the enemy while collecting the 
treasures and balloons here. Now fall back to the left and sprint to the right, 
roll under the wall and grab onto the chain. Jump to the platform to the right 
to rescue the animal. Run off the screen to the right and you will appear on 
the left side of the screen. Avoid the floating enemy as you jump to the 
platform with the switch, use it. Jump to the platform to the right and open 
the chest while avoiding the icicles that will fall from directly above it.

Now jump back to the platform with the switch and fall to the left while 
avoiding the floating enemy to grab some treasures on the way down. Avoid the 
enemies and run to the right. Grab the treasures before you fall off the 
platform. You will activate the next checkpoint when you drop down. Run to the 
left and hold up as you fall off the platform and in front of the chain. You 
will grab it. Move to the left and pick up the treasures along the way.

Open the chest on the next platform for some more treasures. Do the same for 
the next chain to the left while avoiding the floating enemy. At the end of the 
chain, run off the screen to the left to appear on the right. Slide down the 
left wall for some treasures. Fall down for some more treasures. Run off the 
screen to the right to appear on the left side of the screen and you will 
activate another checkpoint.

Shimmy across the chain to the right until you reach the chest. Avoid the 
icicles above the chest and open it. Now jump down to the left so you will grab 
the treasures as you drop and grab the second chain. Grab the rope to the left 
and run to the right. Jump and wall run up the platform with the large chest on 
it. Collect all of the treasures and skip the chest for now. Sprint and jump to 
wall run up the platform to the right for the animal. Now jump back to the 
large chest and open it.

Jump to where the rope was to the far left and drop to the lower platform. Grab 
some more treasures and rescue the animal. Roll under the wall to the right and 
grab the chain. Shimmy to the right and jump back to the platform where the 
large chest is. Jump to the platform to the left. Grab the treasures and wall 
run up the left wall to reach the chain. Shimmy across the chain to the right 
for some treasures and an animal. 

Run off the screen to the right to appear on the left and activate the 
checkpoint. Shimmy across the first chain and wall run up the platform to the 
upper right. Jump onto the chain and shimmy to the platform to the left. Throw 
a rope straight up and climb it. Jump up to the platform to the left and grab 
the treasures. Run off the screen to the left and appear on the right for somre 
more treasures and another animal. Drop down the platform and land on the left 
platform below.

Continue up the short platforms here and wait for one of the enemies to reach 
the right side of this platform. Jump on the enemy and bounce onto the platform 
to the right. Jump up the platforms to the right and climb up the chain. Jump 
to the platform to the left and sprint to the rope. Jump onto the rope to the 
left to complete this stage.

World 2 Act 2

Collect the treasures to the right as you shimmy along the chain. Jump onto the 
platform above for the rope to collect. Run off the screen to the right to 
appear on the left side of the screen. Collect the treasures here and roll 
under the wall to the right. Grab the balloons on the platform below. Shimmy 
along the horizontal chain below to collect all of the treasures there while 
avoiding the floating enemy.

Climb down the vertical chain now and jump to the chain to the right. Jump to 
the right of the spikes and open the chest for some treasures. Jump to the 
platform to the right and just hang there for a second while the icicle drops. 
Once it falls, collect all of the treasures and the animal here. Jump back to 
where the chest was and drop down to the right. Collect the treasures here. 

Fall to the right and collect some more treasures and activate the checkpoint. 
Jump over the spikes to the left and climb down the chain. Fall to the right of 
the spikes below the chain and rescue the animal. Roll under the wall to the 
right and jump over the gap. Collect the treasures here and open the chest for 
some more. Jump back to the door to the right and go through it to appear in 
the lower door.

Run to the right and collect some more treasures. fall off the platform to the 
right and run to the left. Jump to the chain and climb up it. Rescue the animal 
to the left. Jump over the next gap. Collect all of the treasures while being 
careful of the falling icicles and open the large chest to begin the escape 
sequence of this stage. 

Fall down to the right and roll under the hole to the left. Grab the chain and 
collect the treasures here. Climb up the chains to reach the platform to the 
left. Run off the screen to the left to appear on the right side. Jump across 
the gaps and climb the chain in the middle of the screen. Avoid the two 
floating enemies as you climb up the chain. Jump across the chains to the left 
at the top and open the chest to the left. Shimmy across the horizontal chain 
to the left to collect some treasures.

Climb up the chain to the far left and jump across the chains to the right. 
Stay along the highest platform you can and you will reach another checkpoint. 
Jump onto the left platform above and run to the left. Avoid the enemies as you 
collect the treasures to the far left. Run off the left side of the screen and 
collect the treasures and open the chest on the right side of the screen. 

Jump onto the platform to the left for some more treasures and then onto the 
platform to the right. Grab some more treasures and an animal. Jump up the next 
two platforms above you and grab the treasures on the second platform. Run off 
the screen to the right to appear on the left for some more treasures. Jump 
across the platforms to the left and wall run to climb onto the chain above. 
Climb it and fall down the platforms to the right for the last treasures and 
animal. Jump back up the platforms and onto the rope at the top to complete 
this stage.

World 2 Act 3

Start off by collecting the treasures to the left and the right of where you 
start. On the elevated platform you have to jump on to the right before the 
drop, you will see two black lines in the background. The wall will collapse as 
you run in front of this section of the background so slowly approach it to let 
it drop without crushing you. Fall off the platform to the right for some rope 
and more treasures.

Fall down to the left and grab some more treasures. Drop past the chain while 
avoiding the floating enemy. Jump and grab the treasures just below the chain 
and run to the right. Throw a rope to the right of the animal and climb up it. 
Rescue the animal here. Fall down and enter the door to the left. You will 
appear at the very top of the stage. Grab the treasures just to the left and 
stand on the switch until the door to the left opens. Sprint to the left and 
roll under the door before it closes. 

Jump onto the platform to the left and run off the screen while collecting some 
treasures. Open the chest on the right side of the screen and run back off the 
screen to the right. Jump onto the platform to the upper right and collect the 
treasures and animal here. Drop down to the left and sprint towards the right 
wall. Roll under the wall while collecting some more treasures. Grab the 
balloons to the left and stand on the switch to the right as you jump to 
collect some treasures. 

Sprint to the right and avoid the floating enemy. Run off the screen to the 
right while collecting the treasures. Do not slow down or you will be hit by 
the collapsing walls on the left side of the screen. Roll under the door before 
it closes and you will hit the next checkpoint. Grab the treasures here and run 
off the screen to the left while avoiding the enemy and collecting some 
treasures. Jump to the left of the floating enemy and drop down to the second 
chain while collecting the treasures on your way down. 

Now drop to the next chain and grab the rope to the right while avoiding the 
icicles. Shimmy along the chain to the left that you just came from to collect 
the treasures here and jump to the platform to the left. Collect more treasures 
and jump onto the chain to the left. Run to the door to the left for some more 
treasures. When ready, enter the door. Slide down the wall just to your left to 
collect the treasures here and wall jump to the rope to the left. Jump back 
onto the platform you just came from and stand on the switch to open the door 
to the left.

Jump to the left and grab onto the rope along the ceiling to swing to the next 
platform. Run under the door before it closes. Fall down to the lower platforms 
for some health, treasures, and an animal. Slide down the left wall to collect 
thre treasures on the way down. Grab all of the treasures around the chest and 
then you should open the chest to begin the escape sequence of this stage. 

Jump to the rope to the right and climb up it. Jump to the platform to the left 
at the top and open the chest for some treasures just past the door. Enter the 
door. Jump to the right and shimmy along the rope to the right. Fall down the 
right side to the platform with the animal and treasures. Jump back onto the 
rope that you just came from and climb the platform to the right. Jump over the 
enemy as you run off the screen to the right.

Keep moving to the right and activate the checkpoint. Jump onto the rope and 
jump to the platform to the upper left for the last animal of this stage. Enter 
the door to the right to appear back on the top of the screen. Stand on the 
switch to the left to open that door to the left. Run and roll under it. Open 
the chest just to the left for the last treasure of this stage. Now jump onto 
the platform to the left and then onto the platform to the right. Jump onto the 
rope to the right to complete this stage.

World 2 Act 4

Run to the right and collect the treasures. You will see two ice blocks appear 
quickly on the small platform to the right. These blocks will always be there 
and you can stand on them whether you can see them or not. Jump onto the 
platform to the right for some balloons. Sprint and jump off this platform to 
the right so you jump off the screen. When you are as high as you can be, 
activate your balloons and float to the animal in the upper left corner. 

Float down to the left with your balloon and grab the treasures as you run down 
the platforms to the right. Grab the treasures on this chain and activate the 
checkpoint. Avoid the floating enemy and fall to the right for another 
treasure. Shimmy across the rope to the right and jump onto the platforms for 
some treasures. Watch the ice blocks that appears and jump over the ice blocks 
along the right side of the screen, grab the treasures and animal there. 

Fall down to the right and run off the right side of the screen. Roll under the 
wall when you're on the left side of the screen for some more treasures. Fall 
to the right and stand on the switch. Run to the left while collecting all of 
the treasures here and the animal while avoiding the two enemies. Roll under 
the door before it closes and jump over the gap. Run off the screen to the left 
and grab all of the treasures and rope here. Now run back off the screen to the 
right and climb down the rope for a checkpoint.

Watch the ice blocks here and jump across all of the platforms as you move to 
the right side of the screen collecting the treasures. Just make sure to always 
keep an eye on the floating enemy. At the chain, drop down and move to the left 
for the switch, activate it to open a lower door. Now climb up the chain and 
across the horizontal chain for the treasures and animal to the right. Drop to 
the right and grab the balloons. 

Now fall to the left and grab the rope, run to the right and off the screen 
while collecting treasures. From here you can just keep running to the right 
until you reach the large chest. Collect all of the treasures and then open it. 
The escape sequence will now begin and just like the previous final stage of 
the last world, you will see spikes that begin to rise as you race to the top 
of the stage.

Jump onto the chain to the right and climb up it. Jump to the next platform to 
the right at the top and run off the right side of the screen. Drop down to the 
right and throw a chain up next to the animal. Climb up it to rescue the 
animal. Drop back down and run across the ice blocks to the right and jump onto 
the platform. Climb onto the platform to the left at the top and run along it 
until you run off the screen to the left. Jump up the platforms here and onto 
the platform above you to the right of the area with all the ice blocks.

Run off the screen to the right to appear on the left side of the screen. Climb 
up this rope. Jump to the platform to the left at the top. Run off the screen 
to the left and jump onto the platform to the left over here. Jump onto the 
chain and reach the chest on the platform above you, open it. Run off the 
screen to the right here and you will appear on the left. Jump onto the ice 
blocks here and jump onto the platform to the left. Jump to the platform above 
with the checkpoint.

Continue to move to the right here until you reach the chain. Jump onto the 
platform to the right and open the chest. Collect all of the treasures to the 
right while avoiding the floating enemy. Jump to the platform to the upper 
right for the rope. Run off the screen to the right for some more treasures and 
a chest, open it. Roll under the wall to the right and land on the platform to 
the right. Jump to the right and onto the chain. Shimmy to the left of the 
chain and jump onto the platform to the left. Run off the screen to the left to 
appear on the right side for the last few treasures. Jump onto the rope at the 
top to complete this stage.
