Capcom has announced that that the first of the Downloadable Content packs for Mega Man 9 is now available via WiiWare and will be releasedon XBLA following on October 7 th and PSN on October 9th. In Mega Man 9, you relive the Mega Man experience with classically inspired bosses, each with their own unique weapons and weaknesses (press 'read more' for details). VSTEP today announced that the Dutch version of Ship Simulator 2008 Collector's Edition is now available via their website, with the English version coming this Friday, October 10th. 2K Sports today released the first details on the music soundtrack for NBA 2K9. The list includes names like N.E.R.D, Santogold, Gnarls Barkley, The Pharcyde, and Beastie Boys with an exclusive track by DJ UNK, along with an original recording by The Cool Kids titled 2K Pennies. Fans can now listen to and purchase individual songs from the NBA 2K9 soundtrack through the new 2K Beats channel.
Eidos Interactive today announced an agreement with Microsoft for the release of two downloadable chapters in the continuing Tomb Raider adventures of Lara Croft. Containing up to six hours of new gameplay and content for Tomb Raider: Underworld, the chapters will be available exclusively on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360. Tomb Raider: Underworld – Beneath the Ashes and Tomb Raider: Underworld – Lara’s Shadow will deliver two very different single player gameplay experiences. Tomb Raider: Underworld – Beneath the Ashes takes place after the Underworld story has finished and will feature an incredible new environment to explore, additional secrets to unlock and different enemies to fight. Tomb Raider: Underworld - Lara’s Shadow will introduce players to a new kind of playable character and create a unique Tomb Raider experience. A demo for Tomb Raider: Underworld will be available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace this month.
Square Enix today announced the debut of the Final Fantasy XI Players' Collection, a new series of collectible accessories designed exclusively for fans of Final Fantasy XI. The first item in this collection is the Tidal Talisman, which you are now able to pre-order (if you are located in UK, France or Germany). A metallic pendant that surfaces only rarely from excavations of Olduum burial sites in the western reaches of Aht Urhgan, the talisman depicts the great sea serpent worshipped and feared by the ancients, coiled around the great stone pillars that were said to have held up the heavens. Scholars of prehistory in Aht Urhgan hypothesize from observation of other burial goods that this ornament was worn by high ranking diplomats in the ancient Olduum civilization. Priced at £24 or €30 depending on country of purchase, the Tidal Talisman necklace will be available for pre-order until 09:00 (GMT) 17th October only.
