Eidos Interactive today announced an agreement with Microsoft for the release of two downloadable chapters in the continuing Tomb Raider adventures of Lara Croft. Containing up to six hours of new gameplay and content for Tomb Raider: Underworld, the chapters will be available exclusively on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360. Square Enix today announced the debut of the Final Fantasy XI Players' Collection, a new series of collectible accessories designed exclusively for fans of Final Fantasy XI. The first item in this collection is the Tidal Talisman, which you are now able to pre-order (if you are located in UK, France or Germany). A metallic pendant that surfaces only rarely from excavations of Olduum burial sites in the western reaches of Aht Urhgan, the talisman depicts the great sea serpent worshipped and feared by the ancients, coiled around the great stone pillars that were said to have held up the heavens. Scholars of prehistory in Aht Urhgan hypothesize from observation of other burial goods that this ornament was worn by high ranking diplomats in the ancient Olduum civilization. Priced at £24 or €30 depending on country of purchase, the Tidal Talisman necklace will be available for pre-order until 09:00 (GMT) 17th October only. Lexicon Entertainment today announced they will publish Caveman Rock for Nintendo DS and Wii during Q1 2009. Caveman Rock is a casual time puzzler in which the player has to fire coloured rocks via the DS touch screen or the Wii mote to a targeted position. Vicious Cycle Software today announced that the new version of its game development engine, Vicious Engine 2 (Ve2), will be used for the first time in Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3. Eat Lead is a third-person shooter with a sense of humor featuring all of the next-generation improvements to Ve2’s rendering and animation systems, including overhauled lighting and shader technology, advanced audio and AI and enhanced physics and path finding. The engine will be widely available to developers in 2008, but the company is also currently looking for early adopters who are interested in evaluating Ve2.
