The PS3™ system is powered by the Cell Broadband Engine™, a revolutionary microprocessor that leapfrogs the performance of existing processors giving the PS3 system supercomputer-like power and performance that up until now, game developers have only dreamt about. Every PS3 system is equipped with a built-in Blu-ray™ Disc player so users can enjoy high-definition gaming and movies. Blu-ray offers developers unprecedented storage capacity so they can fully express their creativity and pristine picture quality at 1080p, the highest-definition resolution available today. The PS3 system supports a broad range of displays from conventional or standard TVs to the latest full HD (1080i/1080p) flat panel displays.

The PS3 system also comes standard with Giga-bit Ethernet and a pre-installed upgradeable Hard Disk Drive (HDD) so users can download a variety of content as well as access on-line games and services over the network.

The PS3 system features the new SIXAXIS™ wireless controller which was built by refining the popular PlayStation® controller, the de facto standard in gaming with several hundred million units sold worldwide. The new SIXAXIS controller features breakthrough technology and a highly sensitive motion-sensing system so users are able to maneuver the controller as a natural extension of their bodies in real-time and with high-precision.

The PS3 system is backwards compatible so users can still enjoy virtually their entire
PS one™ and PlayStationĂ’2 computer entertainment system games as well as their CDs and DVDs.
