FOUR ORIGINAL STORIES IN STORY MODE
Wu Kingdom
Having suffered a terrible loss to Orochi, the officers of Wu, including their leader Sun Jian, were taken as prisoners-of-war. Orochi then forced Sun Ce, son of Sun Jian, into suppressing a Resistance Army, on pain of the execution of his father. Ma Chao would lead the Resistance to Mt. Ding Jun; from there they would launch their campaign. To save the people of Wu, Sun Ce will go into battle to suppress the brave rebels...
Wei Kingdom
Most of the great armies of these two periods fell to destruction before the might of Orochi. The news of the death of Cao Cao, Lord of Wei, was reported, and it was left to his son, Cao Pi, to take up the leadership of the clan. Eager for control of Wei, Orochi dispatched Da Ji, his strategist, to take an offer of alliance to Cao Pi, which he ultimately accepted. Cao Pi, now employed by Da Ji, must suppress any resistance to Orochi…
Shu Kingdom
Entire army divisions fell before the might of Orochi's forces. The Shu army, too, fell to defeat, and the whereabouts of many of its officers were unknown. Captured by Orochi and held prisoner beneath Ueda Castle, Zhao Yun was driven to despair by the loss of Liu Bei. Yet hope came with the unexpected news that he was still alive. With renewed inspiration, Zhao Yun would plan his escape, and soon encounter an unexpected ally…
Samurai Warriors
Another demon was waiting and watching as Orochi seized control. He bore witness to the destruction and decided that it was his destiny to lead the bravest warriors against Orochi. This other demon was the manknown as the Demon King, Nobunaga Oda. With Orochi holding control over nearly the entire new world, those forces that remained outside his influence were scattered and factionalized. However, Nobunaga would now attempt to unite these forces…
ATTACK CATEGORIES
In the game, each of the characters belongs to one of three Attack Categories (Power, Speed, and Technique). Each of these Attack Categories features a different Special Attack. Awareness of these different offensive strengths will be a vital step towards victory.
Each Attack category has its own “special attack” plus “unique action: and an “enhanced skill”.
“Special Attacks” are performed by pressing the R1 button.
“Unique actions” are performed by pressing the “Jump” or “Charge Attack” buttons.
“Enhanced skills” do not require any action by the player.
Attack Category: Power
The Special Attack for each warrior in the Power Category (PWR) is the “Power Attack“. This inflicts significant damage or provides a strength boost, but depletes the Musou gauge. These warriors possess an Enhanced skill called “Hyper Armor”. This protects them from normal and arrow attacks while on the offensive.
Attack Category: Speed
Warriors in the Speed category (SPD) are adept at “Combination Maneuvers,” which can be deployed consecutively from ordinary attacks. Speed warriors have the Unique actions, “Aerial Thrust” (which propels them through mid-air), and “Aerial Escape”, (which allows them to jump up and away in mid-attack).
Attack Category: Technique.
The Special attack for Technique warriors (TEC) is called “Enhanced Strike.” By pressing the R1 button in place of the triangle button in any combination, the effects of the attack will be multiplied, in exchange for using up the Musou Gauge. Additionally, “Counter Strike” can be used by
pressing the R1 button directly after taking damage. This produces a powerful counterattack in exchange for using up the Musou Gauge.
CHARACTERS
A grand total of 77 characters from the Dynasty Warriors (DW) and Samurai Warriors (SW) series of games are included as playable characters. Yoshimoto Imagawa, Goemon Ishikawa and Kunoichi were omitted from SW2, but will reappear in this game as playable characters. There are also two new un-lockable characters Orochi and Da Ji.
NEW! TEAM BATTLE SYSTEM
The game introduces a new three-person tag team format to the Warriors games. Players will form a team using any three available characters. At any given time, one warrior will be engaged in battle, while the other two are recuperating, restoring their Life Meters and Musou Gauges. In battle, the player can rotate to a different character in real-time by pressing L2 or R2.
Well-timed character switches will be the key to success on the battlefield. The game is over when one of the three characters is defeated.
WEAPONS AND THE NEW WEAPON FUSION SYSTEM
Players can collect weapons by taking the treasure boxes that appear in battle. Each treasure box can hold up to three weapons- one for each of the team members.
Different effects can be applied to a weapon, of which up to 8 can be applied at any given time. Effects include fire, lightning strikes, increased attack range, and much more. “Growth Points” earned in combat can be used to improve these weapon effects.
With the new Weapon Fusion System, players can combine weapon attributes from different weapons to enhance the abilities of a weapon. Weapons can be fused any number of times. However, there is a limit on the strength of each weapon.
