Opening of the Mouth Well as far as I'm concerned E3 is officially in full swing, even though it doesn't "officially" start until tommorrow. Gamespot has an interview with Kojima about the new Metal Gear. IGN has a huge first look at DX2. There have been a plethora of press releases and news items about "X Live," Microsoft's network plans for the Xbox, so many that I won't even bother listing them. I've seen new shots for the new Mechwarrior game, the new Tomb Raider, and read an interview with Gabe Newell, of Valve Software, about their plans for a new version of COunter-Strike, with exclusive content, for the X Live network. I am going to gush for a little while. Yesterday I noticed on Penny-Arcade a link to a game I had never heard of called Zanzarah. I checked it out and the graphics looked great and the gameplay premise sounded interesting. As Tycho said: For the uninitiated, Zanzarah is a 30/30/30 combination of Magic: The Gathering, Quake One, and Pokemon. The remaining ten percent acts as a reservoir for cream. It's nuts, and the production values (especially on some of this audio!) are through the roof. I finally decided to download the demo and I almost balked. 200 megs is a lot to ask for to just download a demo. I'm sure glad I did. Tycho wasn't kidding. THe production values for this game are amazing. Everything drips a certain visual style and flair that 95% of games lack. Don't get me started on the audio. It's so good I don't even know what to say. All this and the show doesn't start until tommorrow?!? Comment on today's "OotM" (and tell everyone what you want to see at E3) here. -Anubis
Insider stuff: E3 tommorrow. Excited yet? I plan on not budging from my computer tommorrow unless I really have to. to be honest, you should only be concerned with a couple of people's opinions of what goes down at the show. Penny-Arcade, of course, those guys are hardcoe gamers. Jsaon Bergman over at the Shack will offer up some honest opinions as well. And for a general all around wrap up it is hard to beat Blue's. I'll try and pull together all the really, really sweet stuff into one update, so if you just want to see the best fo the best, stay tuned in here at GH3D.
