Darkmatter Development has released the third developer diary, offering more details about
Star Apocalypse, a space strategy game which will be 100% realtime (press 'read more' for details). Players will start with an underdeveloped system, and need to expand in order to survive. The universe will be filled with systems, nebula's and asteroid fields. Due to the innovative Stellar Manipulation feature, players will have the ability to open new parts up in a map, destroy entire parts or recreate entire parts. This technology allows these conversions: (black hole -) star - nebula, asteroids (+ nebula) - planets, accessible - unaccessible. Star Apocalypse will be released for free in December 2007. The game is using
Irrlicht engine which can render rougly 550.000 polygons without much lag (a 11 FPS rate).
