Mark Tritschler is back with his daily "rumours". Today's topics are Half-Life 2 Possibly Delayed, PSP Specs revealed, Bad Vibes For Microsoft (again...), No Show for Phantom Console, 3DO Up For Grabs and more. Read full article for details and feel free to post your comments.
Half-Life 2 possibly delayed Gamespot quotes a representative of Vivendi Universal that Half-Life 2 (no matter Valve repeating a good number of times that everything will be ready by September 30th) will be delayed until later on this year. If the above is true (although we've got no confirmation of the above news), we should still be able to experience the game before Christmas. *crossing fingers*
Bad vibes for Microsoft Microsoft has just settled a lawsuit filed by Immersion for patent infringement, for use of its haptic, or touch, technology. This is the technology you find in the Xbox game controlers which make it "rumble" during games. Microsoft settled by spending $26 million to licence the technology which ends this legal battle between the two companys. Immersion's haptic technology is used in a variety of devices, including mobile phones, PDAs, medical equipment and automotive gear. In video games, for example, haptic technology will make a controller vibrate in a specific way when a virtual machine gun is fired or when safe is picked. Immersion alleged that Microsoft and Sony were using its tactile technology, without a licence, in their Playstation and Xbox games consoles. LumiCON PS2 Controller to come soon Mad Catz has announced its new PlayStation 2 controller - the LumiCON. Set for an August release with retail price of $19.99. The LumiCON features underglow and lighted buttons allowing gaming in the dark. There is a macro function also for pre-setting complex moves at the touch of a button. The lights sound abit of a gimmic really, but it does sound like a solid piece of hardware at a fairly good price. Look out for it soon in the shops.
Still no show for Phantom console Well as I did promise before, pictures of the new console were going to be shown this weekend but they failed to show. However the group behind the console, Infinium Labs has been keen to speak up quite abit about the console. The Phantom will come with Dolby 7.1, Networking, high-spec graphics and lightning speed access as standard apparently and will accept all types of hardware from keyboards to joysticks. For a Q&A and the latest info check out Gamespot. 3DO up for grabs Fancy a gaming franchise? have some spare money? Well now is your chance to own 3DO! For a low low starting bid of $250,000 it could well be yours. But what do you get for your money? mainly the ownership of brandnames and the like for dire games like "Armymen". Ah well, if you're still interested check out http://www.3doinfo.com, I hope you get this great website in the deal also!
PSP Specs are out! Well we now know it is going to be an even longer wait for the Portable Sony but by the specs of it, it could be worth the wait. Check out the specs now at Gamerfeed. Very impressive I think, but how much will it cost is the big question. Serious hardware like this you would think has a serious price tag. - Mark Tritschler
