2001 e3 - Double Your Mario Fun With Super Mario Advance Lights, Camera, Prepare for Action as Mario Makes His Game Boy Advance Debut at E3 LOS ANGELES, May 16, 2001 - Nintendo's leading man is back for more brick-breaking, turtle-tackling action when Super Mario® Advance debuts on Game Boy® Advance on June 11. The game will feature an all-new multi-player mode that allows up to four players to compete using only one Game Pak. Developed and published by Nintendo of America Inc., Super Mario Advance takes Mario to the next level with outstanding graphics and an audio track featuring brand-new character voices and enhanced stereo sound. In addition, players can see more of Mario in a handheld game than ever before, because Game Boy Advance boosts screen size by 50 percent over Game Boy® Color. Single-player Adventure mode offers the timeless gameplay of Super Mario Bros. 2® , letting users play as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach or Toad on an incredible journey through seven sprawling worlds - 20 levels in all - to defeat the evil Wart. Plus, players can battle against the computer in classic Mario Bros.® action, available on a handheld system for the first time. "Mario is an icon in our industry and it is fitting that he headlines the launch of this innovative portable video game system," says Peter Main, executive vice president, sales and marketing, Nintendo of America Inc. "After selling more than 110 million Game Boy systems, some people thought handheld video games just couldn't get any better, but this new Game Boy Advance adventure opens up brand new worlds of portable gameplay." Players can compete with friends in the multi-player mode, where up to four players can punch and jump their way to victory using a single game pak and Game Boy Advance Game Link® cables (sold separately). The two-player Mario Bros. playfield features a newly added trash can where players can dump opponents. The game also offers super-powered action with special bonuses, warps and power-ups. Super Mario Advance has an MSRP of $29.95.
