OpenGL
The OpenGL API (application programming interface) was originally developed by Silicon Graphics, Inc. (SGI®). It is now a computer industry standard API utilised for the purpose of 3D video display rendering and 3D hardware acceleration in games such as Worms 3D Demo and is a required game resource. It is strongly recommended to download and install the very latest video drivers to ensure that your computer complies with these requirements.
OpenGL Compatibility
OpenGL 1.4 must be installed within your system prior to running Worms 3D Demo. If this is not installed you may experience severe performance problems or the game may not run at all. Your video card and drivers must be 100% compatible with OpenGL 1.4.
If your video card is not hardware accelerated the game will run in software mode and exhibit severe slowdown during play. If you are unsure regarding the specifications or compatibility of your video card and drivers with OpenGL 1.4 please contact your hardware manufacturer directly for further information and possible software updates.
Whilst your hardware may not be OpenGL 1.4 compliant you may still be able to run the game with the very latest drivers, but you may experience an omission of effects or corruption abnormalities with the video display.
OpenGL Errors
On attempting to run the Worms 3D Demo if the game reports a ‘Could not load OpenGL subsystem’ you will require a specific video driver update. Native video drivers that are supplied as standard with your Windows operating system do not have fully included support for OpenGL. Compliant drivers for OpenGL 1.4 are produced and provided directly through the video chipset and card manufacturers respectively. An installation of these updated compliant drivers will automatically supply OpenGL support to your system.
Note: For computer systems that have multi-monitor support enabled it is strongly recommended to disable the secondary monitor output prior to playing the Worms 3D Demo.
When installing replacement drivers you may possibly receive a prompt stating that the new driver updates are not WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs) digitally signed. This indicates that the drivers are not fully tested by Microsoft and you will have supply manual confirmation for the driver installation. If you are unsure as to whether drivers are suitable for updating, decline their installation and contact your video hardware manufacturer for further advice.
Note: Motherboard integrated video chipsets may exhibit performance problems. This may be hardware limited as system memory could be shared for use as video memory.
Video Hardware Acceleration
If the game graphics seem to run at a very slow rate this may be a result of incorrectly set Windows video hardware acceleration.
· Select Windows Desktop with right mouse button
· Select Properties
· Select Settings
· Select Advanced
· Select Troubleshoot
· Select Hardware acceleration and alter level stepping accordingly

Whilst it will be possible to play the Worms 3D Demo utilising other available manufacturer video chipsets and drivers we cannot guarantee stability or performance of the game.
Note: Because of limitations within some laptop mobile chipsets and the 3D hardware requirements of the Worms 3D Demo, we therefore cannot guarantee 100% compatibility.
DirectX Diagnostics
The DirectX Diagnostic Utility (DXDiag) comprised within DirectX 9.0a will enable you to check for WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs) digital signatures within your individual system hardware. If it is apparent that any of your system components are non-compliant and deemed uncertified by Microsoft you may need to contact the hardware manufacturer primarily for possible software driver updates.
As an alternative it is recommended to consult the Microsoft web site directly for further advice regarding DirectX. Here you will be able to find detailed technical reference and troubleshooting information.
We strongly recommend updating system drivers for your devices directly from the guidelines indicated by your hardware manufacturer. If you are unsure as to the components within your system it is possible to perform basic DirectX identification and driver functionality tests on your system hardware components initially. The details of this test may be outputted to a text file.

· If sections indicate non-compliancy you will require a driver update
DirectSound
The DirectSound component of DirectX is utilised by Worms 3D Demo for the purpose of audio management. During development the game has been tested on the more popular sound hardware configurations available today. If you encounter any sound related problems with the game please check that you are using the very latest available audio drivers to ensure 100% compatibility.
If you are experiencing audio problems with your sound card there is a possibility that the software drivers are not fully compliant with DirectSound. It is highly likely that you will require a driver update. For further information contact your hardware manufacturer directly.
Audio Hardware Acceleration
If the game sound is stuttering or corrupted this may be a result of incorrectly set Windows audio hardware acceleration.
· Select start
· Select Run...
· Select Open
· Type dxdiag in the text box
· Select OK to evaluate your computer
· Select Sound
· Select DirectX Features
· Select Hardware acceleration and alter level stepping accordingly

If you are experiencing input problems with your devices there is a possibility that the software drivers are not fully compliant with DirectInput. It is highly likely that you will require a driver update. For further details please contact your hardware manufacturer.
Keyboard Limitations
Some keyboards are limited in that they may not recognise certain combinations of three or more simultaneously pressed keys. If this is evident during play this problem is not software based but is directly attributed to the hardware limitations of the keyboard. Usage may also prove problematic on systems with compacted keyboards that incorporate keys that are assigned with multiple functions.
Note: It is recommended not to press any custom key functions that may be available on your system (such as multimedia shortcuts) during play. Doing so may produce undesirable effects such as loss of program focus or instability.
