Starship Tycoon is the new much-improved version of our classic space simulation game StarLines INC, the game is still in development and currently in beta.
Starship Tycoon puts you in charge of an interplanetary shipping company, you compete against AI controlled firms to survive in the cutthroat world of space commerce. Configure and upgrade your starships, hire and hire the crew, smuggle illegal goods, and wage price wars against your competitors.
You can play Starship Tycoon either in a mission-based or freeform 'sandbox' mode.
SHIP CREW
Your ships require various numbers of crew depending on the starship configuration. Crewmembers include:
- PILOT Required for any starship to move anywhere!
- NAVIGATOR Large ships (over a certain tonnage) can't fly without a navigator
- ENGINEER Required for ships with more than 1 engine module, also advisable on any largeish ship to prevent too many brekadowns and faults developing.
- STEWARD Required for a ship to transport more than 2 passengers at once. Additional passengers require more stewards.
- CARGOHAND Required to transport more than 2 tons of cargo at a time. More cargobays will require more cargohands.
SHIP MODULES
You can reconfigure your ship anyway you like from a wide range of components
- ENGINES The more engines you have the faster your ship goes, but the higher the fuel usage and the likelihood of breakdowns. You can get standard engines, or TurboDrive units (more expensive but faster).
- PASSENGER CABINS You can get 1st 2nd or 3rd class cabins, which earn different amounts of money but cost different amounts. Each cabin holds a single passenger
- CARGO BAYS Standard bays hold 1 ton of cargo, Hazardous bays are reinforced and allow you to carry hazardous or explosive cargo (for mroe money). Perishable modules allow transporttation of perishable foodstuffs, smuggling modules are shielded from scanners to allow you to smuggle illegal goods.
- AUTOREPAIR Breakdowns are a fact of life on all starships, but these expensive units will greatly reduce the problems you see on your ship and keep your crew and passenger morale high.
- FUEL TANKS Extra fuel tanks extend the range of your ship, you can fill them with unrefined, standard or premium grade fuel
- HOLODECK Cheers up your passengers and crew, and allows you to charge more to transport people
- SICKBAY Boost passenger confidence and crew morale, cutting down the chances of a crew resignation
- FUEL INJECTOR Fuel can be expensive, especially for large starships, but fitting this unit will reduce substantially the fuel use of your ship and save you money in the long run.
- SHIPS GALLEY Keep the passengers and crew happy by keeping them well fed with this shipboard kitchen
