Marine Sharpshooter II Announced TORONTO – February 3, 2004 – Groove Games, a global publisher of interactive entertainment software and Jarhead Games, a top independent game development studio are joining forces to bring a new level of quality and enjoyment to value PC games. Details on the deal include the development of three PC games with the first being a follow up to their recent best seller CTU: Marine Sharpshooter, aptly named Marine Sharpshooter II. “We're thrilled to be signing on long-term with Groove. Finding a partner in today's value market capable of releasing a quality and commercially successful game is difficult.” said Bryan Ekman, executive producer and vice president of Jarhead Games. “Groove's forward thinking will allow Jarhead to take its games to a new level. Expect to see a great deal more quality content as a result of this powerful partnership.", “Bringing quality to value games is an obvious yet difficult venture; the key ingredients for success being a talented, committed development team and a flexible, market-focused publisher with an eye for fun games,” said Jon Walsh, president of Groove Games. “We really hit that mark with Jarhead Games’ CTU: Marine Sharpshooter so it was a no-brainer for us to want to work with them again on a more long-term basis. We expect Marine Sharpshooter II and the two subsequent games to continue to reinforce our quality value game theory.” As in the first game, players will be in control of the world’s most deadly silent military asset, the Marine Sharpshooter. This time around, Marine Sharpshooter II takes players deep into the African jungles on a mission to stop a rebel plot to overthrow the local government. As the Marine Sharpshooter, players will walk, run and crawl through 10 intense missions through more than 15 levels of lush jungles and cityscapes while sometimes enduring torrential weather including windstorms, rain and lightning. Marine Sharpshooter II also explores what it means to be a Sniper in much greater depth than the first game. With the theme of underlying action remaining, players are offered the choice of stealth over direct conflict making the player plan each shot strategically. Players can plan those shots with the impressive arsenal of modern weaponry used by true Marine Sharpshooters such as the M40A1, M40A3 and M82A1A Sniper Rifles, the M9 Pistol, as well as a combat knife. Additional details along with screenshots on Marine Sharpshooter II will soon be released and gamers can expect to see the sequel on store shelves this Spring.
