1. GameStop has reported that total sales nine-week holiday period ended December 31, 2011, were $3.02 billion, a slight increase compared to the 2010 holiday sales period. Total company comparable store sales decreased 0.3%, composed of an increase of 0.3% in the U.S. offset by a decrease of 1.5% internationally. Digital sales, which are included in the Other category, grew 60%, led by Call of Duty ELITE subscriptions for downloadable content. For the holiday period, total company sales of new video game software increased 9.9%, driven by strong sell-through of PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 titles, such as Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. New hardware sales declined 19.6% as there were no new console products or low enough price points to stimulate consumer demand as in 2010.

2. Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, has announced Optimized for NVIDIA GeForce 3D support for Qosmio F755 3D, enabling users to experience glasses-free 3D gaming for the first time ever on a laptop. The update is currently available for download via Toshiba’s Service Station utility. Equipped with a 15.6-inch diagonal 1080p Full HD TruBrite display with Active Lens technology, the double parallax image display is able to project two sets of images at the same time, splitting them between the left and right eyes to create the 3D effect.

3. Mad Catz Interactive has announced the shipping of the Primer Wireless Stereo Headset, which uses 5.8GHz wireless technology to connect with the Xbox 360. In addition, the Primer includes precision balanced 40mm neodymium drivers and controls which allow gamers to separately adjust volume and in-game chat levels. 4. Microsoft Corp. and News Corporation have announced plans to launch a series of new apps for Xbox LIVE that will feature content from News Corp.'s broadcast, news and Web properties. The apps will incorporate content - as well as voice- and motion-activated controls using Kinect for Xbox 360 - from brands including Fox Broadcasting Co. (FOX), Fox News Channel, IGN Entertainment Inc. and The Wall Street Journal. All the News Corp. apps will be available to Xbox LIVE Gold members and are slated to launch in 2012.

5. WikiPad, the first glasses-free 3D Android 4.0 tablet with an attachable video game controller, announces its debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas from January 10-13th (Booth 14832, Central Hall). Unlike traditional tablets, the WikiPad is the first to combine the experience of a high definition, glasses-free 3D tablet with patented hand-held gaming capabilities using an attachable video game controller. The WikiPad video game controller attaches directly to the tablet and enables users to play casual, mobile, and the latest high-end video games through new cloud gaming services. 6. TeePee Games today announced a unique partnership with The Express Group and OK! Magazine that will see TeePee Games power OK! Games, a brand new social gaming portal for the OK! Magazine UK Facebook The app will be available via the OK! Magazine UK fan page on Facebook and will offer a large selection of free Facebook Games.
