1. Red 5 Studios has announced that its upcoming open world PC shooter, Firefall, will be presented at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, March 9-11. Attendees will get to experience Firefall's dynamic open world with a hands-on demo, talk to Typhon and Mourningstar in their completed “Battleframes”, and walk away registered for Firefall’s exclusive beta.

2. Third annual "Horizons" research report , prepared exclusively for The PC Gaming Alliance (PCGA) members by market research firm DFC Intelligence, covers 2011 year-end sales figures and encompasses major aspects of the PC gaming software industry worldwide through 2015. The global PC games market continued to show surprisingly strong growth in 2011, reaching a record US$18.6 billion, representing overall growth of 15% over 2010. No geographical market segments tracked showed a decline in 2011 in overall PC game revenue, while China continues to grow at nearly twice the rate of the overall global market for PC games with growth of 27% resulting in record 2011 revenue of US$6 billion. Additionally, the mature game markets of Korea, Japan, U.S., U.K., and Germany demonstrated significant growth in 2011, together recording increased revenue of 11% in 2011 to US$8 billion.

3. Big Fish Games has acquired mobile-social game developer Self Aware Games and its parent company, Social Concepts, makers of the hit mobile-social brand, Card Ace: Casino.

4. Xbox LIVE Arcade (XBLA) Kinect title, Fruit Ninja Kinect has exceeded the 1 million downloads mark since its debut on XBLA in August 2011, Halfbrick announced.

5. Havok has entered into a worldwide license agreement with Nintendo to make Havok Physics and Havok Animation available to studios around the world developing on Nintendo’s Wii U platform. The agreement will give the development community access to the Havok technology to create high-fidelity, immersive games.

6. In Asian countries, Valentine's Day is for girls to express their affection to the men in their life; a month later, White Day is when the roles are reversed and the guys must lay their undying affection at the door of their women. Joymax announced a festive Celebration for White Day in Silkroad Online.

7. SG Interactive revealed that Grand Chase: Heroes, the latest update to its massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), Grand Chase, is starting off with Act 1, the first of three major updates. Taking center stage will be the brand new character, Rin - the fan wielding goddess with her own unique play style - who will be free for all players. Adventurers also will be able to experience the Eclipse, a darkness that sweeps across all dungeons offering many challenges and great rewards. SG Interactive will be celebrating with an extensive giveaway including an Alienware gaming laptop as well as numerous events. Gamers can begin playing as Rin and trying out Grand Chase: Heroes by registering on the game's official page for free.

8. Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) will release the open beta version of PlayStation Suite SDK to content developers in April 2012 and the official version later this year. Through the introduction of these SDKs, SCE will offer a more streamlined content development environment for content developers - from large game development companies to small, independent shops — and further expand the world of PlayStation® to open operating system based portable devices.

9. The Dark Nebula series, downloaded over 6 million times on iOS devices, has been acquired by Swedish game developer Free Lunch Design. To celebrate the occasion Dark Nebula 1 will be free and Dark Nebula 2 will be sold at half the price, during the weekend of Friday the 9th of March until Sunday the 11th of March.
