Cenega Publishing today announced they will publish in Q3 2005
UFO Aftershock,
"a mixture of squad based tactical action and global strategy" developed by
Altar Interactive.
UFO: Aftershock is the sequel to the highly successful 2003 title - UFO: Aftermath - and follows directly from one of the endings of the first title, where the player agrees to hand over the Earth to the Alien scientists, who are trying to change the planet into a giant living organism. The Council of Earth and their followers take refuge on an orbiting satellite prepared for them by the aliens, but not all the survivors of the original invasion where re-located. The game starts after many years in their new home, with no sign of the aliens and a failing life support system – the player must find out what happened to the Earth, the people left behind on the surface and the new visitors". Be sure to check the E3 2004
trailer if you haven't done so already.
The story continues...
After the alien invasion, the Council of Earth successfully fought the Reticulans and moreover discovered their secret plan: to cover the Earth with "Biomass", a network of alien organic tissue that, the Reticulans hoped, would become conscious and endowed with immense psychic powers. The Reticulans who invaded the Earth are not true representatives of their kind, they are a breakaway faction that burned the bridges and chose this backwater part of space to conduct its experiments.
The Reticulans would construct a large satellite (several kilometres across) with a closed ecosystem and move the remnants of human population there. The experiment with the Biomass would go on on the surface. Then something went horribly wrong...
