Gizmondo, the company behind the next-generation mobile entertainment device of the same name, has confirmed a major presence at both European Games Network ( "the industry facing event for everyone in the business of games") and the brand new consumer event, Game Stars Live - this will be the first time when the new handheld entertainment system, a wireless, handheld device featuring cutting-edge gaming, an MP3 music player, movie player, multimedia messaging, in-built camera and GPS functions, will be showcased in the UK. Game Stars Live will take place over five days at the tail end of the summer holiday period 2004 at ExCeL, the state-of-the-art exhibition site in London's docklands from 1st – 5th September 2004. It sits alongside trade-facing show, European Games Network, and new creative-focused event, European Developers' Forum: The Interactive Entertainment Conference, both of which run Wednesday 1st – Friday 3rd September 2004. European Games Network's mix of components will include The Market Place, a show floor of exhibition space with no free build; The Waterfront Rooms, a series of over 60 dedicated meeting suites for private meetings and product presentations; The EGN Lounge, an area dedicated to delegates for meetings; The Conference and Workshop Programme and the TIGA International Content Market, an exclusive area for developers backed by industry body TIGA. We were informed the Golden Joystick Awards 2004 will take place at the Park Lane Hotel on Friday, 5th November 2004. "Following an initial call to the industry for nominations, voting for the 2004 Awards will officially open shortly. Gamers can make sure their favourite games receive the recognition they deserve by heading straight over to the all-new Golden Joystick website". Any game published between November 14th 2003 and October 29th 2004 is currently eligible for a coveted Golden Joystick. Once the initial stage of voting has concluded, organiser Dennis Publishing will unveil the shortlist.
