Producer Dan Sochan takes us through one of the many multi-part police side missions open to the player, accessible from the Hong Kong police undercover HQ
Square Enix has released a new gameplay movie from Sleeping Dogs, showcasing this all-new open-world game inspired by classic Hollywood and Asian cinema style action thrillers. Developed by United Front Games in collaboration with Square Enix London Studios, Sleeping Dogs is a gritty open world cop drama set in city of Hong Kong. Taking the role of undercover cop Wei Shen, players are tasked with taking down one of the world’s most fearsome criminal organizations from the inside - the Sun On Yee Triad. Featuring an intuitive and imaginative combat system, Sleeping Dogs empowers players to perform an extensive set of martial arts moves, single-handedly taking on numerous opponents. Players perform bone-crushing kicks and combos, vicious counters, and a cinematic set of environmental takedowns making use of countless real-world items from circular saws to phone booths, incinerators to refrigerator doors.
In this mission presented in the video, Wei Shen is tasked in helping the Hong Kong police in a case where his unique knowledge and connections in Triad culture may help bring a killer to justice. Bodies are turning up around the city and the police believe that there is a Triad connection... but these are not standard gang killings, the police suspect this could be the work of a serial killer.
Sleeping Dogs will go on sale across North America on August 14th, and in Europe and UK on August 17, 2012, for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
