Derek Smart to develop Freespace 3?

Over the Avault forums Derek Smart posted a poll asking if he should exploit the Freespace license from Interplay and develop the third part of the series or not. While opinions vary, one thing attracted my attention. He said in one of his posts that "I CREATE games. I DEVELOP games. I SELL games. I PRODUCE and DISTRIBUTE games. It's what I do". The right thing to ask in this case is why don't you just do it?
