  • Krome Studios announced that it has joined forces with DPS Film Roman, an IDT Entertainment Company and the leading animation company known for the hit shows "The Simpsons" and "King of The Hill," to create television and DVD productions featuring the characters from the best-selling videogame TY the Tasmanian Tiger. The videogame series has sold well in excess of a million units worldwide. IDT Entertainment is a subsidiary of IDT Corporation a multinational telecom, entertainment and technology company. Krome Studios is currently developing the sequel, TY the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue which is scheduled for release this Fall for PS2, Xbox, GC and GBA.
  • We were informed that the rock band Phantom Planet will sing at “G-Phoria – The Award Show 4 Gamers” live on Saturday, July 31 at The Shrine Expo Center in Los Angeles. "G-Phoria is the original television award show that toast’s the year’s hottest video games, stars, music and trends that define the gamer lifestyle". The band’s current single “Big Brat,” from their latest self-titled album released in January, 2004, appears on Atari’s DRIV3R video game. They are also known for their song “California,” the theme song of Fox’s hit TV series, “The O.C.”
  • Extreme AI, Inc. announced the launch of Orbz for Tapwave Zodiac, their newest entry into the mobile video game market. This action/arcade game is published and distributed by Tapwave, Inc. - it is available for purchase and immediate download from the Tapwave store. Orbz is also available for PC’s running Windows, Macintosh, or Linux operating systems from GarageGames website
  • Canadian chip manufacturer ATI Technologies is another main sponsor of the GC – Developer Conference (GCDC), which is scheduled for 17 and 18 August 2004 in Leipzig just before the GC – Games Convention. This makes it the second big sponsor to come on board alongside chip giant Intel Corporation. Registrations to attend the GCDC can be submitted online here, where there is also more information on the conference programme.
  • TIGA, The Independent Games Developers' Association, has confirmed more details, speakers and keynotes for the European Developers' Forum, its major new European developer conference, which is also backed by many of Europe's leading developers and respective developer associations. The European Developers' Forum: The Interactive Entertainment Conference takes place at London's ExCeL between 1st – 3rd September 2004. This event will include keynote addresses from Warren Spector of ION Storm, BioWare's Ray Muzyka along with other speakers from development studios from across the globe.   • Allegorithmic announced a worldwide non-exclusive distribution and publishing agreement with Turbo Squid - interested parties will be able to purchase and download Allegorithmic’s products directly from the Turbo Squid website, including MaP|Time, MaP|Zone and MaP|KitsTM.   • Sony has chosen the Austin Game Conference on Sept 9-10, 2004 in Austin, Texas to give its most detailed technical discussion yet on programming for the PlayStation Portable (PSP). This week Sony announced the PSP will support Talkman, which translates spoken input into another language and plays it through the console's speaker, and Sony also said the PSP's wireless technology would allow up to 16 players to compete against each other simultaneously.
