London, April 2004 - Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) is pleased to announce the upcoming release of FORMULA ONE 04, the only officially licensed game of the FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPTM. Entering the second year of a four Championship season partnership with the Formula One Administration Ltd, SCEE maintains the exclusive rights to develop the FORMULA ONE franchise for next generation computer entertainment systems. Benefiting from its unique relationship with the sport, FORMULA ONE 04 features all of the official teams, drivers and circuits of the 2004 season, including the brand new tracks in Bahrain and Shanghai. "Our ongoing relationship with Formula One Administration Limited enables us to provide FORMULA ONE enthusiasts with an authentic recreation of their favourite sport on PlayStation 2", said David Reeves, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. "FORMULA ONE 04 delivers the realism that fans have come to expect in an easy to play yet challenging to master experience that appeals to gamers and FORMULA ONE aficionados alike". Developed by SCE Studio Liverpool, FORMULA ONE 04 brings the tension and excitement of FORMULA ONE to life on PlayStation 2 through a variety of gameplay modes. Four levels of difficulty ensure that the game is challenging to the most hard-core gamer, yet accessible to FORMULA ONE fans new to the videogame experience. Providing a completely immersive gameplay experience, yet still offering pick-up-and-play accessibility, FORMULA ONE 04 allows players to participate in all the action of the FORMULA ONE season - 18 races across four continents and sixteen countries, selecting from the 10 official teams and 20 drivers. In addition to playing as their favourite driver, FORMULA ONE 04 now allows gamers to race as themselves, with their name lined up on the starting grid next to the most skilled racing drivers in the world. A full simulation Career mode enables aspiring racing drivers to experience thrill of progressing through Championship seasons, beginning with offers from the teams at the back of the grid. Success on the track will attract the interest of more successful teams, while a poor performance may result in the player being fired! FORMULA ONE 04 will also offer the unique opportunity for players to set the fastest time in a time trail and race against ghost cars to achieve the best time, in an all new online mode. FORMULA ONE 04 is scheduled for release in June. www.playstation.co.uk Game © 2004 Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. An official product of the FIA Formula One World Championship.
