Game Developer Terminal Reality today revealed more features of its upcoming third-person action/adventure game, Blair Witch Volume 1: Rustin Parr. Blair Witch Volume 1: Rustin Parr utilizes an enhanced version of Terminal Reality’s Nocturneä game engine and will be the first of three PC games in the Blair Witch collection. Gaming enthusiasts will enjoy the mixture of adventure and action elements presented in dark, eerie environments while fans of the movie will be attracted to the Blair Witch mythology and various film tie-ins.” Based on the blockbuster horror movie and the mythologies associated with the Blair Witch legend, Blair Witch Volume 1: Rustin Parr combines compellingly crafted adventure with intense action elements. The game features characters from Terminal Reality’s Nocturne, a 3D-action horror PC game released in October 1999 which was highly touted for its cutting-edge technology and gameplay. Blair Witch Volume 1: Rustin Parr is set in the town of Burkittsville, MD shortly after the arrest and conviction of Rustin Parr, a local hermit who claims the whisperings of an old-woman ghost led him to abduct and murder seven children. The player controls Nocturne character Elispeth “Doc” Holiday, an investigative scientist from a shadowy organization known as Spookhouse. She arrives in town to unravel the true nature of the supernatural forces surrounding the legend of the Blair Witch, and to determine the role it has played in the Rustin Parr murders. “Doc” employs an arsenal of creative devices and weapons and her investigative experience, resourcefulness, and courage, to solve the wicked mysteries paralyzing this terrorized small town. Blair Witch Volume 1: Rustin Parr features include: Dark, interactive environments and eerie cinematography. Inverse Kinematics driven character animation that allows characters to adapt their animations to varying situations and environments. The next two games in the Blair Witch trilogy will be Blair Witch Volume 2: The Legend of Coffin Rock and Blair Witch Volume 3: The Elly Kedward Tale. Developed by Human Head Studios, Blair Witch Volume 2: The Legend of Coffin Rock takes place in Burkittsville, MD during the fall of 1886 and involves Robin Weaver, a young girl believed to be missing in the Black Hills Forest. Players take on the role of Lazarus and try to uncover the mystery behind Robin's disappearance and discover a bit about their own character. The game will be available October 2000. Ritual Entertainment's Blair Witch Volume 3: The Elly Kedward Tale is set in 1786 and places gamers in the role of witchhunter Jonathan Pyre. Children are mysteriously missing and Elly Kedward is accused and found guilty of witchcraft. Kedward is banished to the woods. This title will be released in November 2000.
