Mutable Realms has released two new screenshots from Wish, their upcoming Ultra Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (UMMORPG) planned for release in Q4 2004. The first image shows a boat docked at Harborview, and the second one shows a boat arriving from the sea. The official website story section has been updated with the tale of Shatterspire, the Lost City. "Wish supports more than 10,000 simultaneous players in a single, seamless world, without any zones or "shards". Wish is also the first massively multi player online role playing game that truly tells a story, and lets player actions have lasting implications on the world. Our single-world approach allows Mutable Realms to employ a dedicated Live Story Team whose singular purpose is to keep the story moving forward, providing a fresh gaming experience for our users each time they play".
Defining Ultra Massive Online Gaming™ Unlike conventional MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games) that confine players to a server with only a few hundred other players, Wish defines the new category of online gaming called UMMORPG (Ultra Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games). A highly-scalable server cluster infrastructure enables Wish to support tens of thousands of simultaneous players in a single shared world. Every player of the game is a player in your world, and that provides endless opportunities for bonding through shared experiences. By eliminating the need for artificial "zones", Wish presents a seamless online experience in a world whose size and rich detail far surpass conventional MMORPGs.
