  • According to this topic, the upcoming Xbox role-playing adventure game in the works at Big Blue Box, has gone gold.
  • Eurogamer is reporting that Ubisoft plans to two different versions of Ghost Recon 2. Shanghai Studio is working on the PS2 and GC versions, while Red Storm's North Carolina studio is producing the Xbox and PC versions. The PC/Xbox edition will be set five years after the PS2/GC version. Thanks: Blues.
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl will have a beta test in October - after the game ships to stores, a demo version will be released followed by a patch wich will add a co-op mode. Thanks: Homelan.
  • G3 Studios, a developer and publisher of video games for cell phones, handheld devices, Pocket PC and other platforms, and High Energy Magic, a UK-based developer of mobile entertainment, have signed an exclusive publishing agreement - G3 Studios intends to globally publish and distribute in September SAS: Commando, "a gripping infiltration-style action game", for Brew cell phones. As part of the agreement, G3 Studios will create the port of the game for Brew handsets and place the game with Brew carriers around the world. More details here.
  • The fansite Oblivion-Lost.com is offering a new official wallpaper of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. It contains the same artwork that will probably be used for the box of the game.
  • Xbox Live's popular "Game With Fame" series of online celebrity events is offering gamers a chance to play against some of the hottest bands during the MTV Video Music Awards. From August 27 through 29, gamers will get a shot at playing Madden NFL 2005 against Steriogram and other popular musical artists. Gamers looking for more info on joining Steriogram and other artists on Xbox Live during the Video Music Awards should head to the official "Game with Fame" site.
  • Gizmondo Europe Ltd., subsidiary of Tiger Telematics, announced that Gizmondo device will come complete with the industry's most advanced memory chip, mDiskOnChip G3 from M-Systems. Gizmondo will be priced between $300 and $400 and is set to first launch in the United Kingdom later this year.
  • The Korean MMORPG Khan the Absolute Power, developed by Mirinae Entertainment, will make its debut at this year’s ECTS 2004 taking place at Earls Courts, September 1-3.
  • Mutation Software, the independent UK developer (and later publisher) of many hit titles such as DoodleBug (Amiga), Dweebs1 & 2 (PC Budget) will close in September 2004 after failing for two consecutive years to achieve target turnover/profits to stay afloat.
  • Nima Taghavi, CEO of Crave Entertainment Group (CEG), announced the election of Rob Dyer as president and chief operating officer. "Dyer brings over a decade of executive experience in the interactive entertainment industry to his new role at the privately held distributor and publisher of videogame entertainment products".

  • Lifemode Interactive will launch a Maya version of their facial animation software package: LifeStudio:HEAD 2.6 at ECTS next week.   • Aspyr Media, Inc. will publish Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons of WWII for Macintosh. Under development at Aspyr Studios, this expansion pack to Battlefield 1942 brings experimental weapons out of the lab and into the field and introduces eight tough, new battle maps. Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons of WWII is expected to ship in October and more information is coming soon to the Aspyr website.
