Developed by Atom Split Games in conjunction with Dublin based inventor Brian McCarthy, The Power Game is a turn-based strategy game in which players control two rows of opposing cogs, and must move their cogs around the board in an effort to turn their opponents "master gear" clockwise. The Power Game features three game modes - a single player mode against the three difficulties of AI, a two-player mode, and an online multiplayer mode where players can gain experience and increase their rank to become a Power Game Master. It also features an in-depth tutorial to help new players get to grips with the game.
The paid app gives full access to the entire game, with optional micro-transactions to allow players to earn or purchase additional backgrounds, cogs and master gears to personalise their playing experience. However, The Power Game is one of the first to feature a |shock-proof| microtransactions model, allowing players to buy a one-off purchase to disable additional purchases, and give unlimited bolts to spend on player customisations. This family-friendly model gives parents a way to avoid bill-shock situations, sometimes seen with other games.
